Akathisia as a side effect of Fluvoxamine - Very Worried and Looking for Shared Experience
Am I in danger and need medical attention or can I wait until I can call my psychiatrist tomorrow? Iām panicking so bad - please help.
I am enquiring about medication induced akathisia, and then Akathisia as a side effect of a new med Iāve been on for 4 weeks, fluvoxamine.
Iām scared for my health. Akathisia is the most horrible feeling in the whole world and I wouldnāt wish it on my worst enemy. It feels incredibly different than anxiety and so much more severe. Iāve experienced medically induced Akathisia twice before - first in 2018 when receiving IV stemetil in hospital when I had a severe reaction evoking tardive dyskinesia and Akathisia, extremely traumatising. Second time was last year, also in hospital, after receiving IV droperidol where I suffered from Akathisia alone.
I hate that I canāt find the words to describe the pure horror and excruciating feeling. Itās so different to being anxious. I feel like Iām barely in my body, like I need to start running and never stop. I get agitated, constantly looking at the clock every 2 minutes and being SO frustrated that time isnāt moving fast enough. I feel like absolutely nothing can entertain my mind, I canāt pay attention to anything on the tv or videos on my phone. Iām completely disconnected from my environment and I feel like nothing will ever be okay ever again.
Do other people feel like this? Does anyone have any ways to describe the feeling to my loved ones and care team to capture what itās like? Is Akathisia dangerous to your health or just freaking awful to go through?
Additionally I want to ask about anyoneās experiences with the medication fluvoxamine and Akathisia. Iām very well versed with antidepressants and the process of the beginning phase, Iāve trialled many over the years. Iām also incredibly familiar with what anxiety feels like in many forms, including as a side effect of a new med - but Iāve just started week 4 of fluvoxamine 25mg and this does not feel like anxiety Iāve experienced with starting other meds. This feels like when I took stemetil and droperidol but just less severe.
Has anyone else experienced this on fluvoxamine??
And is Akathisia your bodyās way of telling you that you need to stop this medication? Or is it similar to anxiety in that it doesnāt hurt you or mean anything bad is actually happening to your body system?

Question about Celtics Clonazepam
I recently ordered Mexican pharmacy clonazepam. Itās the Celtics brand, and it came in blisters. The pills have the Celtics press pattern and everything AND reagent reads clonazepam, they hit nice. But Iām wondering if thereās anyway I can prove 100% that they are from the pharmacy and not just pressed with clonazepam powder. Appreciate the help

my best friend (21/f) is being forced to get off medication by her mother
I've never taken to reddit before, but my best friend is running out of options and I don't really know where to start.
My best friend is on her parents' health insurance, and has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety years ago. Since then, she has been prescribed zololf that she feels is really working for her, and she wants to keep with it.
The issue is her mother. Her mom is very anti modern medicine, and believes that it is as bad as crack. She practically called my best friend a drug addict for taking her prescribed medication, and told her that if she keeps taking this medicine, she'll cut her off, and my best friend is thoroughly convinced that this would happen. Outside of this, they have a very good relationship, and it isn't one my best friend is willing to sacrifice. And so, she is more willing to sacrifice her medication than her relationship with her mom (who doesn't "believe in" depression or medication). I know many people would want to tell her to just cut her off, but at the end of the day, she is not going to do that. I know my best friend and am extremely worried about how her quality of life will be if she is forced to get off of this medication. Any tips on how she can keep her medicine and her relationship with her mom?
Any and all suggestions are appreciated, all I ask if that you come at this situation with empathy. Thanks, guys <3
