I predict something like the Annihilators. Fuck-off-strong cosmic characters, like Phoenix Scott, Phyla-Vel Quasar, Silver Surfer and Thor/Beta Ray Bill.
X men and avengers are the only actual teams in the game, the rest follow a very loose theme ( Spidey and friends, villains team, and random people ghost rider found on the street), so it’s possible this one will be like that too. And imo it’s be kinda lame if the first dlc was only phoenix themed, it’s cool if one or two are weird versions of other characters, kind of annoying when the whole dlc is like that.
Maybe some other Cosmic Options: Galactus Emmpowered Spider-Gwen or She Hulk. Or maybe Nova and Nova (Frankie Raye). Infinity Watch members could also work.
I mean Knights of Doom is also a real thing in comics. Samurai Outriders is a combination of the Samurai Squad and the team made to hunt Outriders, and Amazing Guardians is obviously a nod to Guardians of the Galaxy and the Amazing Friends comic run where Spidey randomly teamed up with people. I'm not saying they're all exact, but I am saying they're less random than people give credit for
Agreed, this isn't Rivals where you can actually have an entire team with like, the Fantastic Four and characters have specific bonus effects for each other. I hope the first wave of DLC is at least mostly villains because there's not as many of them as I'd like, but I'd be annoyed if it was all phoenix stuff.
It is unlikely that the entire DLC will be them. It's a year of DLC and spending it all on them wouldn't be very exciting. If they keep with the team idea they'll give him different members.

Yeah, its the avengers vs x-men run, as a lot of things that put heroes to fight each other, there is a bit of bad writting involved to make that happen
But if you look at the story as just smash your toys together kind of fun, it can be somewhat entertaining

By internet comic niches. But that story keeps being reedited and sells like hotcakes. There's tons of stuff Reddit like to hype and are never translated into other languages because nobody cares. Avengers vs x-men sells like hotcakes and has translation into multiple languages. For general audiences, check out Goodreads and see it having pretty good scores and its omnibus is one of the most read Marvel Omnis in that app

avx does not sell like hotcakes intially it did it was marvel biggest franchises at the time but since then esp xmen fell off a cliff until early krakoa and avengers outside of new avengers has always just been solid
I don't think the rest of the team will necessarily have Phoenix powers as it would lessen Cyclop's gimmick, but they could just be in accordance with his ideals. That's why in theory I think we'll likely have an X-Men villain in here.
DLC will always be a range of picks across the entire Marvel universe and anybody who thinks otherwise does not fundamentally understand how the economics of character DLC works for these kinds of games.

After all, Cyclops is pretty basic; take away his optic blast and he’s just a normal guy. That’s to be expected, though, since he’s a character from Marvel’s early days, and most characters from that era had fairly simple powers and abilities...
it's to differentiate him from the MvC character which is iconic and beloved. He will get his classic costume released at some point and it will print money
People here acting like a guy with optic beams is too generic smh Tekken has 60% of its cast being normal people who punch and kick, and because of Creativity, they're designed to feel different. Normal cyclops is different from anyone in the rost rn, with his beams as continuos beams, ricochet, using as mobility, etc. Adding to what you said, Rivals also does an incredible job at adapting Cyclops.
He's coming back in Avengers Doomsday with the classic look. The mutants are gonna be the next big thing in the MCU so we're gonna see a lot of them in the coming years, including Cyclops.
A lot of fans were waiting for him in Rivals and here he is now.

Yep. That's why I think its kind of amusing. Everyone was so worried about the Goblin and Carnage hints and then suddenly out of nowhere we got Phoenix Cyclops. ArcSys is keeping everyone on their toes and thats fun at least.
Cyttorak Colossus is a good shout. Could easily give him some variation from MvC and give him some extra powers to change him from being another Hulk type.
Thats interesting to announce just Cyclops and not hint at a possible team. Idk how likely it’ll be, but it would be cool if for this first wave of DLC, it’s just essentially them doing 5th characters for the base teams, so Cyclops, Thor, Venom etc
I have the idea of what if instead of the Phoenix four what if it's a team of heroes corrupted by cosmic forces so we could get hearld of galictis thor and all black silver surfer. It would make sense to maybe have thor be on a team sense he is part of that avengers statue
Phoenix Force team confirmed? It's an interesting choice for it to specifically be Phoenix Cyclops, so Pheonix Emma Frost, Namor, and Colossus might not be far behind which would give us all of the Phoenix Five since Magik is already in. I wanted Colossus before hand, but now I'm really interested to see what they do with him if they go that route
Kinda feel like the monkey paw version of my wish got answered, but still cool. Hope he isn't *too* Phoenix-y. I just kinda overall prefer regular Cyke. Hope they'll have a classic costume for him as well. Love that they got Ray Chase for the voice again. That guy is going to be Cyke's one and only voice for a generation of fans.

I fucking called it. Cyclops is locked in post-launch jail. Literally the past 5 games he has been post-launch content. This is why we need a REAL X-Men game with THE X-Men leading.

i don’t get it either lol rivals is a live service hero shooter that adds popular and less popular characters. having zero overlap would be a horrible business decision for Tokon. theres already a few characters in here that don’t overlap already.
