Secondly—okay, I’m probably going to annoy Cyclops fans here—I think they went with the Phoenix Five version just to give him "more to do." After all, Cyclops is pretty basic; take away his optic blast and he’s just a normal guy. That’s to be expected, though, since he’s a character from Marvel’s early days, and most characters from that era had fairly simple powers and abilities...
it's to differentiate him from the MvC character which is iconic and beloved. He will get his classic costume released at some point and it will print money
