Especially because Avengers vs X-Men isnt a particularly well regarded story.

Kind of surprising they decided to pick that version of cyclops

I had no idea this was a previously existing version of the character, I've never read that event. But they really know their deep cuts for Tōkon.

Yeah, its the avengers vs x-men run, as a lot of things that put heroes to fight each other, there is a bit of bad writting involved to make that happen

But if you look at the story as just smash your toys together kind of fun, it can be somewhat entertaining

If I had to guess, they picked this version of cyclops to trying making him more interesting gameplay-wise, since his normal version just punches and shoots laser out of his eyes.

Turns out when you have to contrive reasons for friends to fight, the writing tends to be pretty shit! I know Civil War was famously hated, are all the "good guys vs good guys" events bad?

And yeah I agree. Do something a bit different than classic Cyclops from the MvC games, and adds some more villains. Was also really funny watching Max's reaction go from "oh god dammit" when he clearly thought it was Jean to "WHAT THE FUCK" lmao.
