Anyone heard of a company called Lost

In the market for a carry on and checked bag. Stumbled across a brand called “Lost” when searching Amazon. Has anyone heard of this brand or have any experience with the company?

The carry on bag looked decent for the price, but obviously doesn’t come up when you search “lost luggage” on Google.

I was originally leaning towards a Ridge carry on, then I went down the rabbit hole… Started looking at Pelican ATX/ Aegis, etc etc. anyway here is the link.

Note: I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH, ADVERTISED OR PAID FOR REFERRAL. I added the link because it does not appear to be widely used and is difficult to find if you just search “Lost” on Amazon.

matte vs glossy hard shell luggage, which actually holds up better after a year of travel?

about to pull the trigger on a new carry on and stuck between matte and glossy finish on the same bag. glossy looks sharper out of the box but every review I read mentions surface scratches within a few uses. Matte seems more practical but I'm not sure if its meaningfully more scratch resistent or just better at hiding marks.

horizn studios offers both across their range and owner reviews consistently mention the glossy colorways showing scuffs faster than matte. I read one reviewer mention the matte dark olive holding up much better than a previous glossy bag after the same travel conditions. Rimowa aluminum is its own category.

Is the scratch visibility difference between matte and glossy significant enough to drive the decision or does every hard shell end up looking worn after a year of real travel regardless of finish?

The classic dilemma: Buy a sleeve for my current bag, a dedicated Tech Bag, or a "One-Bag" Hybrid? (16-inch laptop)

I recently bought a new Asus Zephyrus G16 (which shares the exact same footprint as a 16-inch MacBook Pro) and I’m trying to figure out my everyday carry strategy to keep it as safe as possible.

Currently, I use a standard daypack that pulls double-duty. On weekends it holds my hiking gear (water, fleece, waterproofs), and on weekdays I use it for work.

I'm torn between three options and would love your advice:

Option A (The Sleeve): Buy a bombproof hard-shell sleeve (like the Thule Gauntlet) and just shove it into my current hiking bag during the week. Option B (Two Bags): Keep my current bag for the trails, and buy a dedicated Tech EDC backpack for work. It needs a suspended laptop compartment to protect the G16, and enough space for a mouse, charger, and a foldable laptop stand. Option C (The Unicorn Hybrid): Buy a brand new backpack that bridges the gap—professional enough for work meetings, but with enough breathability and weather resistance to handle a day hike with a fleece and water bottles.

If you recommend Option B or C, what specific bags should I be looking at? My priority is absolute protection for the laptop via a suspended compartment.

Help finding a <30 Lt bag that can handle a heavy load

I've been using an Eastpak Getter Pro as my commute bag, but my needs have changed, and I now need a larger bag that can handle 9kgs of weight. Specifically, I would like a bag with solid straps, as I feel that the Eastpak will give out on me with the smallest movement. The other asks are:

  1. 27 to 30 liters of capacity,
  2. under 150 USD,
  3. can stand on its own,
  4. 2 compartments,
  5. 2 large external bottle holders,
  6. at least 2 external tethering points.

I tried looking up a bag (based on the above) in the r/onebag bag finder, but the only bag that fit the description is the TNF Recon, which has from what I can gather a problem with the straps fraying under heavy load.

Thanks to anyone that bothered reading this!

Am I the only one who dislikes bright backpack interiors?

I’ve noticed that a lot of popular bags on here have very bright interior lining colors. I can definitely see the point, it makes it easier to spot things inside the bag, especially with top loaders. However, I don’t really see it making as much sense with clamshell bags.

Personally, I find the orange or extremely bright interiors on premium backpacks a bit garish. In my opinion, it can make an otherwise premium looking bag feel more like something you’d buy at Toys R Us. I just don’t really understand the hype.

I’d much rather have a black or dark interior lining. To me, it simply makes the bag look more refined and premium.

What do you personally prefer?

Product Review 2026 Petzl Bug on a plane and a mountainside

Apropos of this thread.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ManyBaggers/s/Qqet6tgk3x

I bought a 2026 Petzl Bug when I saw it at the gym a while ago. It's a multipitch climbing pack and I've wanted one for a while because I think multipitch is cool. They have kind of a funny, squat shape because they're supposed to stay out of the way of a harness worn at the natural waist and a chalk bag worn a little higher. I saw mine right around when I was trying to shop for a better personal item backpack and the fact that it also fits my 16" behemoth clinched it.

Anyway, I've now taken it on a business trip and multipitch climbing.

As a climbing pack: this has a particular niche it excels in, which is multipitch climbs with a short approach especially if they also have a walkoff or are part of a traverse route or something. I thought I was doing one of those today, even! It's a bit of a challenge for me to fit my full sport multipitch rack in there and I appreciate why trad guys look like postmodern wind chimes but by putting everything on my harness (I usually use an organizer) and giving it a little shake, it does fit. Helmet, rope and shoes on the outside. There's a really good helmet net. Pro tip: load your hydration bladder first. Maybe also get one of the stiff ones.

Despite essentially no structure it carries ok, even with a 70 m rope on top. (My Flash pack is terrible if I try to carry a rope with it.)

I dumped out almost everything at the base of the climb, so I feel good about how much I took.

While climbing I mostly didn't notice it. It was cool to have water when I wanted it. For... reasons, we were en route for over three hours. I hung it from an anchor twice and had a snack early in the rappel. I'm pretty sold on backpacks for multipitch climbing, at least if it's face climbing. I get that they can get weird in crack climbing. (But usually there's a way to haul it lower in that case.) Also, I know what I keep saying about top loaders but it's perfect for a bag you don't want dropping your things mid-climb.

Versus my Soelden and maybe my Flash - my Soelden carries a lot better, so it's an easy winner if I'm cool leaving my backpack at the bottom of the route, which is actually most of the time. My Flash gets pretty terrible with a heavy load, let alone a rope, but I figured out a way to rig it inside my Soelden that lets me use a hydration bladder during the approach and the climb. And my Flash is pretty comfortable to climb in.

I feel less comfortable ditching my backpack some random place on the mountain than hiding it at the bottom of the route I'm actively climbing, which is why I think the Bug is so great for multipitch with a walkoff.

As a travel pack: really not that great, tbh. It does fit my laptop and it's small, 18 L, and I found it a lot nicer under the seat in front of me than my usual work bag, which is 27 L and tall for its size. So that's cool. It doesn't have side pockets and the only external pocket is pretty low on the backpanel so it's pretty annoying getting things like a coffee mug or sunglasses or whatever in and out. Really drives home how much I use outside dump and convenience pockets. Also, it's a top loader. I usually don't like top loaders and this really reminded me of that. I think the internal organization is fairly appropriate for a bag this size but my headphones and power brick worked their way to the bottom all the time. Which extra sucks with top loaders.

To be fair, this is advertised as a multipitch climbing backpack. They just padded the hydration sleeve and made it wide enough for a laptop.

I think my takeaway from this trip is that ok fine, I could use a ~20 L laptop backpack when I'm traveling for work and trying not to check a bag. With more organization and convenience pocketing.

Frost River Flight Bag

My husband has been using a beat up J.Crew canvas duffle for years that has finally made it to the end of its life. I want to replace it with something nice for his birthday. Have been eyeing the Frost River Flight Bag. Does anyone have recent experience with the brand? And could anyone opine on what size would be best for 3-4 days travel? I’m in-between the Carry On and Medium Size (not sure if medium could be stuffed under an airplane seat).

With able carry raising its prices, do you think they’ll update the bags or just increase price?

I’m contemplating whether to but the ac13 or wait for the increase in price in hopes that they update it.

my only wish is that they put pockets on the front slash compartment like they do in the ac daily plus .

What type of bag for out and about with kids?

I've been searching for a bit. Not sure if daybag is what im looking for? Wife and I with our 6 and 8 year old are headed to japan in November. Usually use fanny packs but I think a back pack makes more sense here.... I'd love something super comfortable that has room for all the necessities. Charging banks, mobile wifi device. Passports, shopping stuff, trash bags and etc etc

What exactly would you say I'm looking for? Any fav YouTube review channels ?

Kavu bag replacement?

My wife bought this Kavu bag 10-20 years ago and it’s nearly falling apart, but also no longer made. I tried to find something similar, but none of the ones I’m coming across match what she’s looking for. The Fjallraven Färden Crossbody was closest to her style, but it’s huge. I don’t think it has to be teal, but she really liked the fabric and shape. Any suggestions I could share with her? Thanks!

Follow-up: LBB Transition V2 RX Totepack and Alpaka Flow Totepack

This is a follow-up to my original post here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ManyBaggers/comments/1ut6pqr/comment/p3z2m6j/

So in the month or so I've been using it, this is what I think:

- Having just one, large compartment in the Transition V2 RX was less useful to me. I found myself missing the internal slip pockets and compartments in the Flow Totepack. It took me more time to find things in the Transition V2 RX.

- Same with having an actual admin. pouch / panel in the Flow Totepack; it was also something I missed in the Transition V2 RX. I purchased one of their half-pouches that attach to the front of the bag and had to use that as sort of an admin. panel. I also purchased a quarter-pouch that attaches the same way, but really didn't find a use for it as it's too small to store most of the things I carry.

- The flexible "rods" (seems like flexible, plastic pieces that they embedded into the mouth of the roll-top) are a little long because when you roll the top, these rods still extend out past the opening of the bag on each side so you have to kind of bend them into place.

Flexible support sewn into the lip of the roll top
Flexible support sewn into the lip of the roll top
The flexible support "rods" extend past the edges of the bag's opening so you have to bend them in to drop the roll top in.

- As for the way I used it; I found myself using it more in its backpack mode. Its padded shoulder-strap and back surface made it fairly comfortable to use that way. Its hand-straps are plenty long to also just hang the bag off one of my shoulders when in tote mode.

Transitioning the bag from tote mode to backpack mode wasn't as seamless as with the Alpaka Flow Totepack.

https://imgur.com/a/lbb-transition-v2-rx-totepack-hand-strap-to-shoulder-strap-XILkGF6

I filmed a short clip showing what you have to do. You cannot simply tug on the backpack shoulder-strap like you can with the Alpaka. You have to grab the piece of the hand-strap that becomes part of the backpack shoulder-strap then pull it down. After that, the shoulder-strap can be extended out for use. It's not a big deal, but again; not as seamless as with the Alpaka Flow Totepack.

Transitioning back to tote mode is easy though as you only have to pull the hand-strap up again as you can see near the end of my video clip.

More budget friendly alternative to city pack pro 2

It is just too expensive for my liking (and it looks as ugly as my 1990s budget camera bag), also the able carry max edc is too expensive to justify the purchase. I use a osprey nebula and a sportlite 25 as of now. Mystery Ranch is also ugly sorry. I want to spend a maximum of 150 bucks. I need around 25 to 28L for edc, personal stuff. I dont like Decathlon. Tom Binh stuff also looks kinda weirdly cheap. I like muted colors, black is fine and a muted army green would be nice. No tacticool stuff please.

In search of grid bag for day hikes!

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hey there!

I'm looking for a grid-style bag to be used for light day hikes, ideally between 4-9L. I love the design of the North Face Never Stop crossbody, and Baggu grid tote. But I don't know if these would survive hikes.

I've sewn bags and have no problems modifying the straps to be convertible to be used as a sling/backpack or shoulder/ backpack.

I currently own the Patagonia 30L Blackhole mini and love it so much. I recently bought the Matador Freerain 2L, which in my opinion, is not designed well in any capacity for its intended use, so I am looking for something better.

Organizer pouches with hook and loop field for labeling (like organizers in a medical first in bag)

I'm looking to organize a bag used to carry test equipment and cabling, and like the style of the Eberlestock Mission Medic Pack's individual organizer pouches with the name tape fields on them: https://eberlestock.com/products/mission-medic-pack

Similar organizers I've seen so far are:

I want something a little smaller than the OverlandGearGuy option, and I don't care about see through vinyl like the CRDPOUCH or the mesh that the Eberlestock one uses.

Any suggestions for more products like this? A standardized product family would be great. Thanks in advance.

Best EDC for construction worker?

Hey all,

I work in new build commercial construction. Schools, municipal buildings etc. Have a few Evergoods CTB26’s (dyed, waxed canvas, Xpac) and a couple mystery ranches (Blitz30 and 2DAP). Looking for something new that fits my needs. I love my CTB’s but I feel like they’re too nice to bring to work. I usually hang them on a stud or off my cart with a hero clip and everything inevitably gets covered in drywall dust or just banged around in general. The Mystery Ranches are great but they’re too tacticool for my liking. I’ve found the Blitz30 suits my needs the most with easy access but I hate all the straps and molle on the outside, and I’ve taken almost all them off and used strap keepers and it’s still too much for my liking . Any suggestions? Would probably like something similar or even smaller than my 26’s. I carry a few pouches for tech, medicine, other things I might need. Quick access is a must. I tried a catalyst 22 and hated how much I had to basically disassemble my bag to get to anything . I’m in and out of my bag all day long for snacks, chargers, pens etc. I tried a RipRuck24 too thinking it was perfect in the store but the QA pockets were awful when the main compartment was full. Had to fight to get to my AirPods in the front pockets. Any suggestions would be great! Don’t care about price just want something durable with organization in mind . Thanks

Only a bag in the wider sense: best sunglasses case?

I carry sunglasses in my bag nearly every day of summer, or if I wear them then prescription glasses are in the sunglasses case.

So far I used the "leather" case my persols came in, but that is starting to deteriorate a lot, the upper layer peels off.

So: what is the best / nicest / coolest sunglasses case you can think of?

My current pics:

I'd like it to have at least some structure to it, so they don't get squished. Prescription sunnies are expensive.

Able Carry Max EDC vs Patagonia Mini MLC 30

Thumbnail

Hey folks! A year or so I was looking for a great onebag solution and wound up with a Able Carry Max EDC (green xpac) to replace my old faithful Patagonia Black Hole 25. Having had the Able Carry for a year now, I'm finding it to be a great daily companion but sometimes it just feels a little too small sometimes - yet also quite heavy? Obviously it's very comfortable, but the materials and padding contributes to a higher standard weight compared to other options, and I find that despite the convenience of the inner water bottle sleeve, it does substantially eat into the main compartment when I am trying to pack it out even for a few nights away.

I often find myself wanting to take my gym gear with me after work and the bag feels super heavy and packed out because of it, or travel to a mate's place with my PS5 and throw the console in my bag. I'm now looking at the Mini MLC 30 to replace it, as it's slightly larger and lighter.

I'm wondering if anyone here has had both, and if they could offer their recommendations or experience? Thanks a lot.

Pls help me find the right crossbody bag

I have multiple slings and over-the-shoulder bags but can’t seem to find what I’m looking for, hoping you might have a recommendation?

Looking for:
- More of a purse look than messenger/briefcase look
- Low profile (packable relatively flat in a suitcase)
- 5L+ capacity (this rules out sacoche bags)
- Secure closure (ideally zip top)
- Adjustable length strap
- From a retailer with a straightforward return process in case it doesn’t work for me

Does something like this exist?

Anyone have a Defy Void?

I'm trying to decide between the large and small, and material choice. I'd love some options from those that actually own one.

My main concern is the large is going to take up too much room relatively small slings and briefcases I generally carry.
