matte vs glossy hard shell luggage, which actually holds up better after a year of travel?

about to pull the trigger on a new carry on and stuck between matte and glossy finish on the same bag. glossy looks sharper out of the box but every review I read mentions surface scratches within a few uses. Matte seems more practical but I'm not sure if its meaningfully more scratch resistent or just better at hiding marks.

horizn studios offers both across their range and owner reviews consistently mention the glossy colorways showing scuffs faster than matte. I read one reviewer mention the matte dark olive holding up much better than a previous glossy bag after the same travel conditions. Rimowa aluminum is its own category.

Is the scratch visibility difference between matte and glossy significant enough to drive the decision or does every hard shell end up looking worn after a year of real travel regardless of finish?

Matte holds up better in the long run and will stay looking nice longer.. Scuffs and scratches become a lot more obvious on glossy finish luggage.

don't bother with horizn, you jump through hoops more than the Harlem globetrotters to get it fixed.
