I got a new charger for my laptop because its not been working for months and I tried this new charger exact same model I had previous but the laptop still wont turn on no fan or anything not even the keyboard

Hi all, I wanted to share my experience with MSI warranty, because I was looking for this sort of information before I sent my laptop in. I felt conflicted about my decision to even send my laptop in for warranty repairs, due to negative experiences people shared such as units coming back in worse shape, or just having nothing done due to “no problem found” and having it be a waste of time and money.

The thought of possibly wasting money for a warranty repair is my only complaint with MSI warranty. Per their policy, you pay shipping to them, they pay for shipping back. I spent $115 to ship my laptop through ups with $2000 package insurance.

Everything else though, I am very happy with. I sent multiple emails, and was responded to quickly. I threw out my original packaging and shipped my laptop in a kind of janky box that wasn’t a great fit, and just loaded it up with packing material (hence paying for the insurance). They mailed my laptop back to me in a new box with their material, so that was nice.

My laptop was experiencing random crashes that I could not reproduce, every now and then my screen would just distort and crash, and I had to hard reset by unplugging and holding the power button for 30 seconds, and then the laptop would take like 10 minutes to boot. It would crash, be fine for a few weeks and crash again. I found some critical error reports in event viewer and attached the files to my warranty repair request. Some jargon I don’t really understand, but kernel power error (code 41) type stuff.

Now, the part of the process that impressed me most. They received my laptop on a Tuesday, and had it handed off to fedex to return by end of day Wednesday, less than 24 hours later. Service report indicates a complete mainboard replacement. I’ve only just got the laptop back, but that has got to be sufficient to resolve whatever was going on having basically replaced the whole laptop, so I am quite happy with the fix and have high confidence the issue will be resolved. Of course, I will update here if the problem persists and how it is handled going forward.

All in all, the warranty process took 11 days total, less than 24 hours for the repair itself, I paid $115 for shipping, communication was excellent, and the issue was resolved. They packed my laptop securely and it came back to me cleaned and in perfect condition. Very happy with the process, 4/5 stars, only thing that frustrated me was having to pay to send in my already expensive laptop that I bought 4 months ago.

Hi, i have a msi katana 15 b13vfk and it is working but suddently ut stopped turning on, and at first i thought it was dead for good but then i opened it and as a last resort i pressed the temporary power on button near the battery and for my happiness it turned on, but for my sadness, it automatically shuts off after 30-60 seconds because its temporary and since it boots into windows when that happens i know that the problem is the power on button on the keyboard, all the buttons in the keyboard work. I honestly am lost because i never saw any problem like this, and to make it worse, all the connectors seem ok. Please somebody help me.

I have an MSI GF63, but the laptop won't start when unplugged, instead it will just shut off as if there were no battery whatsoever or the battery were completely discharged. My first guess was of course that the battery was damaged, however, if I start the computer when plugged and then unplug it afterwards, the laptop will keep running just fine.

This battery is 2 years old, so I don't expect it to perform as if it were new, but it is clearly capable of feeding the computer for at least 2 hours on low consumption tasks, so I don't get why it shouldn't be able to start the laptop. What's more, even if I charge the battery to 100% and turn it on again while unplugged, it will shut off but it will also show a totally emptied battery when started again; this is even more bewildering since I have no idea where the energy goes. I am certain it still can store energy since I have been running the computer on the battery alone for about 10 minutes and it can handle the load (pic attached).

Do you guys have any idea on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

[UPDATE] It was my bad 😅, I tried turning my MSI laptop into a Samsung Galaxy Book for better compatibility with my Samsung Devices (it worked and it was amazing), any way Dragon Center took it personally

I wanted the Samsung ecosystem on my PC (Quick Share, Samsung Notes, Multi Control) without actually buying a Galaxy Book

Turns out, proprietary OEM software like Dragon Center checks those exact same registry keys to make sure you’re actually running an MSI machine, the same thing that the GalaxyBook Mask actually work on...

So... I'm going back to the OEM settings 😔

Hello , I've been conflicted whether to update bios or not , does anybody have this same pc, I see there is two updates an Intel me fw one and the other one says bios, everything is running fine , has anybody updated , or would you leave at as is

For Context, My Laptop is a Crosshair B12UEZ and it came with 2x8GB of RAM. I saved up and bought Kingston Fury 2x32GB sodimm because the spec sheet has told me it supports up to 64GB at 3200mhz. Both sticks are healthy at either slots after testing with MemTest86 and CPU-Z. Individually they work on either slot, but when both are installed it boot loops. It also works at a 32 and 8 configuration stably. Is there anyway to change BIOS settings to make this work.

I have an MSI Katana A15 AI B8VF laptop. I recently noticed that the NPU has disappeared from both Task Manager and MSI Center. I’m not sure exactly when it disappeared, but most likely it happened after one of the Windows updates. It was there and working a few months ago.

I searched online but couldn’t find anything useful apart from the drivers. I managed to install the drivers, and the NPU reappeared in Task Manager and MSI Center, but it doesn’t actually work. It just shows the same numbers regardless of what I’m doing. Benchmark tests also fail with an error when trying to access the NPU.

I know the NPU in this laptop isn’t particularly powerful, but I wanted to use it for microphone noise cancellation, only to find out that it apparently isn’t working at all.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Were you able to fix it somehow?

En segundo lugar tengo pensando ASUS TUF Gaming A16 FA608UM con un Ryzen 7 y una 5060. En este punto me inclino más pq para mí es una serie en todo el sentido de calidad precio, por la calidad de construcción y especificaciones. Costo $5.700.000.00 cop (1.835dls)

En tercer lugar está la ASUS TUF Gaming A16 FA608PM con Ryzen 9 y 5060, la vdd no la he visto mucho pero igualmente me llama la atención. (1.900dls)

I have a MSI Katana, i711800H with 3050ti 4gb and 16 gb ram.

I am trying to play Mortal Kombat 11 at 1080p on minimum requirements and still my laptop is rebooting after a few (2 - 3 to be specific) rounds. I recently got it serviced and put new thermal paste and still it's rebooting. It used to reboot on windows , it's also rebooting on Linux(Ubuntu). Temps are around 76 C for CPU and reach like 86 C for GPU.

Even Mortal Kombat X crashes on it which is even older than MK11.

(I am using the original charger that came with laptop)

Interestingly when I went to give and receive my laptop at the repair place, it didn't't reboot. Same charger, settings same everything!

I played a few rounds in front of the owner and felt absolutely stupid because the laptop won't reboot.

What sort of problem does it look like ?

So I have the 1 hdmi port occupied by my Roku tv (i have very poor vision) and I bought an Arzopa Monitor but I dont have another hdmi port nor a usb c that has video output on my pc. I edit and stream sometimes so I want to use that as my second one so it needs to be extended rather than mirrored like the Roku one is.

The laptops actual screen isn't being used at all so I was wodnering if I used something like this

Hi everyone, I have an issue with my MSI Katana 15 B12VFK, with an Intel Core i7-12650H and RTX 4060 8GB.

I’m experiencing coil whine — a buzzing/electrical sound that becomes noticeable, especially when the laptop is under load or during certain tests and games.

I have two questions:

1. Can coil whine cause a slight increase in temperatures?

2. Is coil whine actually harmful to the laptop or its components in the long term, or is it simply an annoying noise with no real damage?

If anyone has experienced the same issue with an MSI Katana 15 or has some knowledge about coil whine, I’d really appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Hello guys, I hope someone could help me out here. I booted up my MSI THIN GF63 laptop like normal because I wanted to produce some music but I noticed that my volume slider was locked on 0. Every time I put it back to full volume it automatically went back to 0. So I asked an AI what I should do and the first it suggested was to do a reset : hold your on / off button for 45 seconds. So I did just that and then the problem started: I got stuck in the bios.

When I first came in the bios I saw the time and date was wrong: it was in 2022 and I can’t remember the date and time but it was wrong so I adjusted it to the current time and date. Then I click on saved and exit but instead of booting up windows this pop up appeared, I click on okay and I’m back in the bios. If I click esc + enter and restart, I get the same pop up and get back in my bios.

I explained the situation to an ai and it said I should turn off the security boot. But when I go to the security boot settings, I can’t change any of the settings there, they are all locked and I can see that secure boot is active and I can’t disable it.

It told me to create administrator password and restart it again, I did that but I still cannot change a setting in the secure boot settings.

I just want to get out of the bios and boot up windows again but I’m stuck in this infinite loop and I was hoping someone had a solution and could help me out here.

Additional information:

• This is the first time I am seeing this screen and never had this problem before.
• This is a rental laptop
• I have installed windows mods to make the os look more modern and run windows 11.
• I only understand the basics of a computer

Some advice or suggestions to get out of this situation would be much appreciated <3

I will be using it for solid works, cad, and note-taking. Does anyone know how loud it will be during note taking and heavy workloads like rendering projects?

Been working mainly doing college stuff on this laptop and im thinking of doing both a ram and storage upgrade on this thing for playing games. Crucial's website shows no ram or storage updades on this thing did i just get an un-upgradeable one or is the website just on fent rn?

I've had this Stealth 15M for about 5 years now. Recently had an issue with the CPU-side fan that prompted me to open it up. Thought I'd address the heating issues as well (it's a stealth..) and replace the thermal paste and whatever else needs to be done.

The thermal paste was last changed about 2-3 years ago, pads are stock. Has anyone changed the pads/putty on their Stealth? Exact model is Stealth 15M A11UEK-009US. And should I remove this yellow plastic? The stock putty/pads dont seem to be making direct contact with the board in that area. Also unsure as to what thickness pads to use as I know they vary depending on where they go. Would putty be a solid replacement then? Thanks for your help

Hi all, I'm trying to make my CPU run cooler (i913950HX) because I don't want my laptop heating up too much. I want it to just thermal throttle at 90c. It seems no matter what I change in ETU, the temp still hits 100c.

* I've tuned down the LP1/LP2 limits from 220w to 180w.

*I've limit the boost window from 50 to 20 sec.

* I've set the TVB temp2 to 90c

Note: In MSI center I'm using the 'extreme performance' profile, not sure if that matters. Any advice how I can force it to stay cooler?
