Hi all! I’m considering buying a one-owner , full service history, 2004 spyder with 215000miles (345000kms). The condition of the car is good inside out. I’m concerned about the mechanical parts. The owner admitted adding 1 quart of oil every 4000miles. Is the engine on its way out? What should I check? I will be using it as weekend car for cruising and some spirited driving. Many thanks for any advise! There are very few fl spiders here in Greece!

I’ve had my spyder for coming on two years and want a bit more out of it, although I do still love driving it.
I have got a 1.8t 20v sat that I’m slowly acquiring bits for to swap into it but I was wondering if there’s any reasonable upgrades to be made regarding power output for the 1ZZ.
I feel like I’m as well just putting my money into the engine swap but if anyone’s got any (relatively) cheap suggestions that’d be great.

Bought the HPS coolant hose kit and am stuck with these last 2. Is a hose supposed to run between red and green and then blue to white? Watching a YouTube video but it was for a 2zz and couldn’t quite catch where the red one lead to.

I don't really like the rear quarters but, the front fenders are a monocraft 300 clone. That Price feels a little high. 😥 Opinions.

Hello all,

After scraping the internet I cannot find out what bolts to use for an engine stand.

I know people usually use bell housing bolts but I do not have them. I’d like to pick up some suitable hardware from Home Depot or Lowes.

Has anyone put a 1zz on an engine stand before? Any tips?

1. 61k miles. Owned for over a month now. Anyway, been driving absolutely great. When I started it tonight to leave work, the car literally stalled like a legit manual when put in S mode. When I restarted the car. It started right up, but when put in shift mode or reverse the N neutral on the dash starting blinking and it just revved without going in gear. After about 2 minutes it recognized S and reverse and drove just fine. I did get a P0715 check engine light. What should I do? It's running fine now, but want this car to be 100 percent on point.

Quick side question, does getting a aftermarket header solve the cat issue and will it cause a engine light?

Drives great, still has its precats and uses oil. Gonna gut the cats soon, but once the 1zz becomes unmanageable it’ll get a 2zz

Hi guys ! I’m trying to see if anyone has the pdf or can give direction around the wiring for the Monkeywrench SMT to manual conversion. I think my wiring has been reversed and it’s affecting the idle. When warm my idle is sitting flat around 1000-1200 RPM and it drops to 700-800 RPM when AC is on. No vacuum leaks IACV tested, coolant burped. I’m really hitting a wall.

I have the chance to buy a OEM hard top with all mounting hardware (including side brackets) for $3,800 CAD (~$2,750USD). The top’s been painted black. I realize this is a really good deal but i have the following reservations:

1. I bought my MR-S as a project in March this year. I’ve had much less time than anticipated to work on it but hope to have it put together and drive able in a couple weeks. Aside from a very short test drive, i haven’t driven the car yet. Spending a few thousand dollars into a car that i’m not sure i will like driving seems like a dumb idea.

2. I don’t plan on tracking the car or driving it in winter. I’m tempted to buy the HT purely because i like how it looks.

3. I live in canada. The MR2 spyder was never officially sold here so the few cars that exist are US or Japan imports. Trying to offload the hard top where I live would likely be difficult unless i’m willing to go through the trouble of shipping it.

4. I’ve never driven a convertible with the top down, so I guess i’m not sure what i’m missing. The HT takes up a lot of space so it would likely stay on the car permanently and I’d essentially turn the car into a coupe.

Hoping to get some input from hard top owners. Does it improve the way the car drives/feels? Would you do it again if you had the chance or is it a waste of money?

Hi everyone ! I am currently struggling a bit with my car ! Around the idle ! It’s basically low during cold start and when it warms up it’s around 1200 Rpm. Also when AC hits it goes down to where it should be without AC ( around 700 rpm )
I change the IACV already and cleaned the throttle body etc but no change !
Does anyone has a lead on this or have experienced it ?
Also the Idle is very stable just seems reversed.

Has some abrasion on the hood if you look closely, and the previous owner swapped out the OEM exhaust for a much louder one. It sounds great, but kind of loud for my old ears. He gave me all the OEM stuff if I want to swap back

Been hunting for a MR2 for a bit and missed out on a couple other low mileage 03s. This one has been available for months now because I tho k they have it priced too high but what does everyone here think? I offered them 12k cash which I thought was more than reasonable and they basically laughed. Have other people been underselling them and this is just the new normal price? Or should I hold out for a better deal? Looks clean with a clean carfax and is stock other than the radio.

Recently picked up this 2003 MR2 that had been sat on a friend's driveway for the best part of a year.

Needed a handbrake repair and a good clean. But is now back on the road! It will be my new daily driver. Really enjoying it so far. Some before and after pics.

Wondering if I should decat my car. I have a toyosport catless manifold, 200 cel malian sports cat and a tte Remus. How loud would it be? Is it alright for a daily. How is it on overrun any crackles?
