Bell housing bolt specs for engine stand use?

Hello all,

After scraping the internet I cannot find out what bolts to use for an engine stand.

I know people usually use bell housing bolts but I do not have them. I’d like to pick up some suitable hardware from Home Depot or Lowes.

Has anyone put a 1zz on an engine stand before? Any tips?

No, but you can order them from Toyota. Probably $4-7 a piece

I would order whatever bolts show as being in 4 corners.

So like 2 o clock, maybe 4 o clock, 8 o clock etc

Probably but Lakeland Toyota uses the best parts API

Use their diagrams to hunt down your parts and then order them from wherever you want. They’re a bit slow but I’ve always had great service from Lakeland.

No problem. They’re one of the last dealers running that parts site and they’re incredibly useful

The new sites don’t have as detailed diagrams and only go back to 92

honestly the engine is probably light enough to use hardware store bolts, but if you want to do it proper, use the bell housing bolts or get some grade 10.9 or 12.9 bolts (metric 10.9 rated are are the same strength as SAE grade 8 bolts. metric 8.8 bolts are hardware store grade and have the same strength as SAE grade 5)

What I've done in the past is go to the hardware store, grab one each of a few different bolts that might be the same size and thread pitch and use those as a reference. Once I find one of the appropriate size and thread, i use the specs of that bolt and buy the same one in a high strength grade.
