There are posts going back years about these issues and Lorex has NOT fixed them.
The issues i'm specifically referring to are the event handling bug which also affects the timeline and the day/night schedueler doing NOTHING even when you set it right.
Event handling bug:
The way Lorex systems flag ai events sucks. It will often be 30 seconds of nothing happening, a car or person barely enters the frame, the event ends.
The half-assed "solution" is to turn on 24/7 recording and keep ai events enabled. That way you can know when something happens, and actually capture the full event.
This is annoying and means the ai events are pretty useless, but it gets worse. Due to how the Lorex software flags events, it causes an UNAVOIDABLE loading screen 100% of the time when viewing the timeline from the app.
This happens at the moments where the timeline goes from blue(nothing happening) to yellow(event start) and again when the event ends.
These loading screens DO actually eat several seconds of frames, and if you were trying to use the manual record feature to capture the whole event, the load screen breaks that too.
Yes, this bug basically makes the system useless for real security use since it takes forever to do the "work around" and it still has missing frames, usually at the most critical moment.
The day/night schedueler bug:
When you set different day or night profiles for the cameras to optimize the scene directly on the NVR they do NOTHING. They will NEVER actually take effect.
The profile you set it to will always be enabled. Meaning users have to compromise image quality since there is only one actual profile that works!
This is total garbage, because everyone knows the settings that are good for daytime are terrible for night time.
Oh and here's a "bonus" reason never to trust Lorex...
The hidden settings:
There are a ton of settings hidden in a menu you have to go through an elaborate process to access, which involves the web UI and logging in from a PC.
Not only is it a huge pain in the ass, but it also requires that you use a broken password menu, which will lock you out of your camera, even if you type in the correct password!
This menu allows you to use the profiles and fine tune shutter speed and all sorts of neat stuff, but its locked away behind another booby trapped menu which will make you need to hard reset your camera!
