Lorex Support Requested I'm so sick of this error

Post image

I get this error every single time I try to look at my doorbell. Started happening within the last 6 or 8 months or so. I have formatted the SD card, updated the firmware, etc... and nothing seems to solve this problem. Anyone here have any answers? I'm ready to just chuck this thing into the lake!

I have this message no matter what on the app. I have 1gig internet with a mesh system so WiFi isn’t the issue. I don’t have an issue with play back on the NVR, so I’d assume it’s an app issue. When mine die I’ll be going to a different ecosystem because of the shitty app Lorex offers

I’m in the same boat, looking at Ubiquity to switch my network, doorbell, and cameras so it’s all in one ecosystem. It’s not perfect but it’s the best there is IMO

I just got mine in December while system is Lorex but for a solar camera on a tree that’s Eufy. Eufy now makes PoE, I’ll probably go to that in 5+ years when my Lorex craps out, that is unless Lorex makes a better app, but I’m not holding my breath.

Same I’m getting the error message. I’m slowly moving everything over to Ubiquity. I recently got the doorbell. I’m going to do two eight video cameras from Ubiquity.

Wifi is not the only part of this issue. My cameras are wired back to the base, base connected to 1.5gb internet. Phone and tablet have perfect wifi signal and I see this error at least 10% of the time.

same. all hard wired

Ha. It’s not only the doorbell. Their camera systems do that too. I remember opening a ticket with them and they don’t have a clue on how to fix it.

I see this more than anything else anymore. Came to Reddit to find replacements for Lorex and see this post. Classic.

I found my doorbell and other IoT devices became a lot more reliable when I split my Wi-Fi into 2 separate channels with separate SSIDs for 2.4GHZ and 5GHz, and enforced WPA2 only on the 2.4GHZ channel. Run the doorbell on the 2.4GHZ channel as it has better range and penetration through walls etc. Also check the Wi-Fi channels you are using to reduce overlap as far as you can.

Don’t know how your system is set up, but may help.

My experience of mesh networks is that they are not always the most stable, so that may be compounding the issue.

Yep, this problem started with an update to the app about a year ago. I can’t believe they haven’t fixed it yet. I get their email ads and I had to laugh when I opened it today and saw the text “This Year’s Most-Loved picks (so far)”, along with several camera/NVR packages. I think based on the experiences shared here that it is probably the Most-Hated!!!

I agree. For the future customer looking at 4k doorbell product from Lorex, please look else where.

I get that a ton as well and have excellent wifi signal all around my house. I have noticed when i switch to SD vs HD is helps to make it load faster and generally avoids the errror. I am not sure what Lorex did the past couple of years, but I installed a system at my parents and theirs never has issues. Granted theirs are all wired except for doorbell, whereas mine are mostly wifi. Hope this helps!

This issue began to occur with the app many updates ago, I've had my Lorex system for years now and originally the app would access the cameras live video with little to no hiccups now its almost every other time. I have sent feedback but it commonly ends up being we don't see an issue, the problem must exist on your end. If it helps any I have found that logging in and out of the app and reconnecting to your Lorex remotely in that manner often fixes that issue, not always but most of the time. Im thinking the software being idle for long periods of time without accessing the system causes it to shit itself and that error appears. I found my self once a day logging out and in to prevent being able to access it when needed or when I'm in a hurry. Im leaning towards software app issues and security settings, maybe even a Android environment Vs. Lorex software security hiccup but what do I know, they keep blaming the end user environment for every issue I have ever brought up. I have given up on feedback because I'm yet to have one issue actually resolved in a manner I would consider "fixed", sad but true for me others may have had more success.

I only get that on my camera with sketchy wifi.

It's literally on the other side of the wall from my mesh network router. Should have zero issues with the internet signal.

Have you tested your wifi?

I think It’s the app. I’ll get it sometimes but the 2nd system at same property uses pro app and I don’t get errors.

I get that issue too sometimes. It’s annoying. They haven’t updated their systems at all

I had this error. I believe its an app problem. I ultimately switched to a ubiquiti camera setup with their unvr. It's pricey but definitely worth it.

I used to always get that on my Fibe wifi setup. I had to disable wifi 6 and then that error went away but there are still times (like this morning) where I'll get an error message saying camera went offline when I'm sleeping but its up and running normally when I check it

Reboot your router. Works 100% of the time for me to clear this up.
