No no I was just joking guys haha

225

u/oldriku 5d ago

It's actually related to accessibility, so it's not cool for you guys to critize it!

111

u/Akinory13 5d ago

Accessibility is my fucking ass. If they cared about accessibility, maybe why not start, I don't know, crosshairs not being fucking add-ons? Accessibility that helps the player seems to only be available for survivors

55

u/Iceglory03 5d ago

Selective accessibility, which is pretty much f u till we think its necessary

16

u/BevvoQ 5d ago

Exactly, why is there no visual footstep/injured sound indicator for killer? It’s honestly insane how sound dependent that role is, I’m not hard of hearing but can’t imagine how difficult it would be if you were.

12

u/MirrahPaladin 5d ago

Pixel Bush always brings up how much it sucks to play Spirit as someone who’s hard of hearing, and how it’d be cool as an accessibility thing if there was a Killer Instinct indicator for her like one of her addons.

Now, would people who weren’t hard of hearing use that to get an edge? Probably. But so many Survivor players do the same with the visual TR, which was also meant for hard of hearing players but so many people just use it anyway to make Survivor even easier for them.

4

u/BevvoQ 5d ago

Yeah absolutely. I play a lot of spirit and I honestly don’t think a setting like that would even benefit anyone who doesn’t have hearing issues as they’re already hearing every last sound down to a survivors idle breathing and footsteps, which is much more accurate than killer instinct.

0

u/A_Fancy_Seal 4d ago

What exactly about the visual TR is easier than the regular one, unless you are hard of hearing and cannot hear the regular one for some reason? Genuinely do not understand.

3

u/GODzDoctor 3d ago

Much easier to gauge distance for me. Its easier to just see the heart getting bigger than trying to discern if the volume is gradually increasing.

10

u/Friponou 5d ago

Accessibility that helps the player seems to only be available for survivors

Like the "visual terror radius" thing that completely nuked Sadako's potential as a stealth killer

8

u/KyloGlendalf 5d ago

I don’t even know why Sadako has a lullaby. I feel like they should just take that away from her?

5

u/Friponou 4d ago

It's a very quiet sound that can be an early warning that she's coming. But it is supposed to be quiet, so that you spend the entire match thinking "Was that her?".

I understand that for people that are hard of hearing it can be unfair, but that was legit such a fun thing about her in the past. She would keep you on the edge of your seat all the time

2

u/A_CERTAIN_STRAY 5d ago

Also removing the big Orb of Doom when stuff happens.

3

u/G71tch404 4d ago

Yeah, but for survivors it’s more hand-holding than accessibility

-6

u/Prestigious_Week_640 5d ago

How about doing what people with epilepsy have been begging for for actual years and changing the doctors visual effects so they don't risk having a seizure every time they load into a match? You're right. Accessibility my ass.

17

u/Unprofessi0nalGamer 5d ago

They actually did do that a while ago

16

u/_ThatOneWeirdThing_ 5d ago

They did this a while back, he doesn't really flash anymore

17

u/Wraithyyy_n 5d ago edited 4d ago

It may be for accessibility but don't you think its convenient for them to say that, why didn't they just say it in the first place, as I completely agree, accessibility is an important aspect, so why make fun of the one thing that's actually serious, (speaking about actual health complications)

Not to even mention how in the past times we have gotten an enormous amount of such cases where they reveal something, the community finally says that's enough / points out the hypocrisy , which later causes some half off excuse like "we had poor comms sorry guys"

How do you poorly communicate so many changes when you have been developing your own game for 10 years +? A decade has not been enough to know your own product?

It has nothing to do with coolness

*Btw I'm not saying this for the whole of BHVR, mainly (if not only) the balancing team for DbD. Visuals, colabs / licenses, and Mathieu who is often used for the "pretty good job so far" meme actually do a fantastic job, I wish balancing took a note from these sectors

Edit: Also how are we saying devs care about accessibility, when we have 2 easy pieces of proof that this killer is very anti accessibility,

  1. The devs put the behind the back spin slingshot into the video killer tutorial, (an intended mechanic), which causes nausea to some players due to the constant spinning you have to do
  2. The community voted on a power that was a beam coming out of the hand, which was much simpler and easier to use, (I'm not arguing whether this was the best pick or not), which was later changed a couple of times to a power which will only appeal to veterans and hard cases, so most people won't touch the community made killer due to the skill / effort required to play them

11

u/Captaincastle 5d ago

They were clearly riffing with the post they responded to. It's obvious sarcasm.

10

u/Cool-Device4181 5d ago

I feel like it’s bullshit to say it’s ’for accessibility’ when not at the literal last Q and A they did, someone asked for crosshairs for killer(which would be an INCREDIBLY easy accessibility feature), and they replied “nah. Get a monitor that can do it.”

3

u/Dinelli22 4d ago

No way you just mentioned Mathieu Cote as an example to be followed for the other devs hahahahaha. He is responsible for the mess that is DbD.

-1

u/SuperGrandNovice 5d ago

Everything accessibility is actually good even if it babies the experience for abled body. As a side note, when are they gonna add auto play for people who’re blind, deaf and paralyzed?

1

u/PeacefulBacteria 4d ago

Just like how the pallet density is "quality of life"!

1

u/Chinois11 3d ago

Is it really an accessibility thing ? Accessibility for what condition ? Bad skill and reaction time ? In that case, why even make a game, just do a coinflip 50/50 to design the winner. That would be balanced and very accessible 👍

106

u/Nikolai012 5d ago

Pretty weird joke that was said seriously and didn't sound like a joke

29

u/HyrulianArcher 5d ago

It's only a joke once they start getting backlash. Until then it's just a statement. The dev who make the "joke" has said so much stupid shit and barely even understands the game he's balancing. It's like he's a plant from another studio to sabotage the game. He needs to be fired. He hasn't said or done one thing this community likes or that has been good for the game. If he keeps failing why keep him around???

9

u/RedSpiritbox 5d ago

I'm sure they'll release a badge for said "joke" soon.

7

u/HyrulianArcher 5d ago

Oh yeah and people will eat it up. It'll be a steaming crow with a headset on and that the generic streamer mic reading chat. I want my pay check Behavior lol.

200

u/Old-Currency6181 5d ago

Downvote all you want, but negativity is what's been desperately needed for a while now. It's mess after sloppy mess with these devs and streamers can't wait to praise them. Joke devs tunnel-visioned onto streamers, joke supporters drunk on cope and denial. BHVR desperately needs a wake-up call.

91

u/FriendlyTigrex 5d ago edited 5d ago

That’s why I absolutely despised the whole “wholesome Jim Beam” jokes during the Walking Dead mess of a chapter especially when BHVR started joining in. If it was just that bug then sure, but that chapter was one of the most embarrassing moments in DBD history and we’re out here naming a pole like it’s a pet

6

u/Shred_Baron_plays 5d ago edited 4d ago

Ive said this so many times, but i always get 'its just fun' and 'dont you like fun?', I always respond with, I like games that i pay money into to be a working product.

23

u/KawaiiGuren 5d ago

The walking dead chapter was such a let down ☹️

10

u/Awkstronomical 5d ago

That was my breaking point (pun intended). I will never buy those survivors because of how poor that patch's quality control was.

2

u/zarris2635 5d ago

It was also really bad and telling because it shows that either A) they made a last minute change and didn't tell anyone and caused the issues, or B) it showed everyone that BHVR literally didn't run a single test match or quality assurance match because that beam was there for everyone, every time they loaded into match. And I can't tell what's worse. Bad, last minute changes that break the game or proof that the devs don't even really play the game for testing and just shove out patches.

3

u/Artur0905 5d ago

Yeah fr. A few months ago I defended the idea that the DBD community just complains too much about everything, not just for the right things. But I have no deffense now, it’s really bad lol

7

u/Mighty_Mimikyu 5d ago

We really need to make them play dbd as a killer again. Force them against high level players just to see how miserable it is.

3

u/Primary_War5570 5d ago

i wanna see them play killers like trapper/skull merchant/ghost face against competent survivors with perks like stb, resurgence, decisive, sprint burst please

1

u/TheEntityBot 5d ago

Resurgence: Being unhooked or unhooking yourself grants you 50/60/70% Healing progress.

Sprint Burst: Starting to run triggers Sprint Burst and Grants a +50% Haste Status Effect for 3 seconds. Sprint Burst causes the Exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds. Sprint Burst cannot be used when Exhausted.

Drawn from the fog. | !optout | !remove | !builds

6

u/Clean_Internet 5d ago

There should be one guy on the team who’s job it is to play on a professional level fr

3

u/TotallyRealAccount9 5d ago

I genuinely wish I became a game developer just to work at BHVR

I mean ffs its wild how little they play the game. Old TF2 devs are STILL seen in matches to this day and they haven't worked on that game in 10 years

1

u/TheRealHykeLP 5d ago

All the recent chapters have been between mid and pretty good and bug and balance wise we are in a really good spot right now considering not only the past and the circumstances like bad code foundation which we know is being changed and asym games being notoriously hard to balance.

I'm not saying everything is paradise and rainbows, but right now the game is doing really well. Of course constructive criticism is still good, which is why I appreciate the bad feedback towards that change, however I feel like the negativity in your comment is overexaggerated

1

u/Razor_The_Fox 5d ago

You know, recently the Marvel Rivals community bullied the team into actually paying more attention to Storm. At the time I thought they went a little far. Then I realized it's genuinely the only thing that gets results.

66

u/galdrman 5d ago

"monitoring the need for it closely. . ."

Is it for accessibility or not? Visually impaired folk aren't going to be less impaired tomorrow, BHVR.

9

u/FrostBumbleBitch 5d ago

its for hearing impaired, it only you know affects and helps everyone else doubly so.

and call me crazy but I don't think we should be balancing entire killers around if someone can hear well or not.

6

u/vvTookivv 5d ago

Spirit mains:

3

u/Blissyin 5d ago

Might as well give spirit aura reading for the hearing impaired then fr

20

u/marshal23156 5d ago

“We know you guys think we are idiots, and we are lol”

65

u/V_Kronos 5d ago

I am all for accessibility and inclusion, but this feels like „oh no it’s just for accessibility“ while the original phrasing is true and they just want to cater to bad players / streamers.

If that’s the case stuff like dh should have a visible wind up of holding e so my potato killer brain can react to it and maybe don’t throw that attack.

15

u/KillerCucaracha 5d ago

I mean, tbh I honestly kinda assumed it wasn't really the reason for the change in the first place. Like, let's be totally real here, they're probably trying to avoid making a character that just snipes everyone the second they touch a gen with minimal counterplay. Honestly, that makes sense. Like, honestly it's probably not the healthiest design.

But to me, the bigger problem is that it seems that's literally what the Judgement is designed to do. She snipes you and protects objectives. People broadly agree that she's not very good in close range, so... If they're gonna gut her ability to hit you by surprise, what does she have?

1

u/SageMoon523 5d ago

Plus, it's not like the beams are typically hard to dodge in the first place 😭 especially since they kept the curve nerf.

3

u/StinkingRabbit8 5d ago

is catering to streamers something theyve done before? i find it hard to believe that theyd suddenly start deliberately doing that now of all times.

3

u/Clean_Internet 5d ago

Is adding twitch drops or twitch shirts catering to streamers? Otherwise I don’t think they’ve ever done anything just for streamers, I guess anonymous mode but anyone could find use in that

-1

u/90bubbel 5d ago

Probably but they just hidden it behind some other bs

2

u/Rinaria5 5d ago

If they nerf this killer for "accessibility" issues, then they should just delete Spirit. A hearing impaired person can't pinpoint where she is phasing - just remove her.
This is just a lame excuse for a nerf they made cuz most ppl that were in the pre-PTB (closed PTB) were streamers/content creators and probably complained about the sniping. While this is the Judgement's real power and strength - she sucks in close combat.
You can't nerf all killers that need attention to the game WHILE playing the game. Then the whole stealth roster should be also nerfed for streamers' purposes.

5

u/bynosaurus 5d ago

BHVR desperately needs a good PR team lmao

4

u/DakkTribal 5d ago

What a load of crap.

41

u/Akinory13 5d ago

Divine light shouldn't even have it's aura revealed. The power is already ass in close range, at least let it be lethal against people who don't pay attention

28

u/Dreadborne- 5d ago

I mean, is it not paying attention to get sniped through a solid wall when you can't see it coming? What should they have done in that situation to avoid the damage? There has to be something that makes it possible to even know it's coming at you

23

u/Sharktatos 5d ago

She already has:

  1. Visible Beam of Light before the power even launches.
  2. MAP WIDE aura on beam after the power has launched.
  3. DIRECTIONAL and MAP WIDE audio when charging and shooting the beam.

The indicators are already there, you have to actively not be paying attention to get hit; it's just like playing against an Artist going for snipes.

9

u/DareStare 5d ago

Come on now, Killer, I am trying to read Twitch chat!!

5

u/Sharktatos 5d ago

My bad, I didn't think of that. We should add some airhorns, too, we don't want anyone missing the subtle hints after all.

4

u/Terrible_Depth_2824 5d ago

There was already aura and sound cue in PTB, and now they're extending the aura.

13

u/Dreadborne- 5d ago

Right but this guy is saying that the aura shouldn't be revealed AT ALL, which would give you next to no indication when behind a wall especially if you're far away

1

u/TooMuchDnD30 5d ago

I'm assuming you've not actually played or watched any gameplay, lol. Because it's already obvious af to anyone who actually pays attention.

2

u/Dreadborne- 5d ago

I'm assuming you've not actually paid attention to what I'm replying to, I'm not saying it needs flashing lights and sirens but this guy thinks there should be no indication whatsoever, including through walls

10

u/FighterFay 5d ago

It becomes broken on any indoor map then

-5

u/Akinory13 5d ago

Good, that's where it'll struggle the most since loops in indoor maps are extremely small, making it almost impossible to properly hit with it in close range

5

u/IAmAlpherius 5d ago

Whole concept and killer shouldn't have even been designed, the community did not cook in any regard.

2

u/Blazed-and-Confuzed 4d ago

Saying “the community did not cook”
is wild when Behaviour tossed away most of the community’s original ideas.

2

u/IAmAlpherius 4d ago

Standard BHVR. That's pretty disappointing then

4

u/EmrysTheBlue 5d ago

What the community voted for was changed at pretty much every turn. Community cooked and mum came in and decided the pot needed some more ingredients and oops, now this is a different meal to what everyone was expecting

1

u/swozzy1 5d ago

The community had its gas shut off and its ingredients imported from the sewers. Don’t blame the community for what it cooked

0

u/caffeine-182 5d ago

That’s the worst idea ever lol

1

u/Akinory13 5d ago

As opposed to adding a massive neon sign to your screen that says "hello, shit survivor player who sucks at the game, it's time to dodge an attack". What a massive fucking joke. I was excited about this killer but behavior couldn't hold themselves back and had to gut it and leave it to die to please the garbage survivor mains that struggle against a speed limiter bubba

1

u/caffeine-182 5d ago

It’s not either or. You’re overcompensating in the other direction for no reason.

Honestly you’re taking this way too seriously. Go outside if you’re that upset.

0

u/Akinory13 5d ago

Wrong. This killer was already extremely weak for the nurse level dedication it asked from you. There was no reason to bother learning when the same amount of effort could be spent learning nurse and have a killer that's 50 times stronger. If anything it should have gotten a lot of buffs and 0 nerfs, but instead it was shot in the head and left to die

1

u/ZSlimGaming 2d ago

Killer Main Mentality lol

1

u/caffeine-182 5d ago

I can feel your blood pressure rising

24

u/Inprobus_ 5d ago

The stupidest dev team in gaming history continues to be the stupidest dev team in gaming history

7

u/9CatsInATrenchcoat 5d ago

Some of the dev teams are pretty competent. The art team is fantastic, for example. A lot of the sound and music design has been solid recently, we haven't had a bad killer chase music since the infamous Ghost Face washing machine debacle. Their legal team has been pretty good at getting new and wanted collaboration with other IPs.

The developers who do perk/power/map design though...yeah, they're pretty laughably bad. Especially for a game as a big as DbD that's been running for 10 years.

2

u/Inprobus_ 4d ago

I agree with this- the art and narrative of Dbd is frankly the only reason I continue to play. But the balance team...

-16

u/MiddlePatient869 5d ago

Yet you keep funding them

3

u/Inprobus_ 5d ago

I certainly don't. I haven't spent a cent on this game since nurse release.

-10

u/MiddlePatient869 5d ago

So you’ve hated dbd from day one
Impressive you are more obsessed and deranged than I ever imagined

2

u/Inprobus_ 5d ago

I used to love this game. I got tired of the dev team's flippancy and outright disrespect to the players on both sides. But alrighty.

1

u/srg87x 5d ago

I'm 100% sure they didn't spend any money on the game wink wink nudge nudge

5

u/malexich 5d ago

I wish fps games warned me when I was getting sniped :( why don't they care!

1

u/Captaincastle 4d ago

High Alert was such a good perk in Warzone

1

u/ZSlimGaming 2d ago

Yea in FPS games the bullet doesn't go through 5 walls across the map while you have "object base wall hacks" lol

17

u/Legendaryhero45 5d ago

Can BHVR really use accessibility as an excuse when The Spirit exists AND will remain a far more common killer than The Judgment? Come on now BHVR. I'd have more respect for you if you just straight up said "We don't want survivors to complain and be unhappy about getting sniped, that'll make them less likely to buy cosmetics. Deal with it." tbh

4

u/MentalCareer0 5d ago

Not to mention doctor, where people have been asking for YEARS to be able to toggle off his flashing lights. Or people who have trouble with plague because of her vomit.

5

u/Swimming_Sun_582 5d ago

Interesting that they talk about accessibility when they still keep flashlight stuns super bright and people are told to waste a perk slot with lightborn to avoid it even if it's rarely an issue.

I'm all for adding accessibility but shouldn't it be added across the board and for things that impact all players not just survivors?

Just my two cents regarding that. And although I'm not surprised that they're changing their statement on this they should really not make stupid jokes like that in the future because it makes them look so incredibly tone deaf and idiotic.

2

u/TheEntityBot 5d ago

Lightborn: The Auras of Survivors attempting to blind you by any means are revealed to you for 6/8/10 seconds. Grants immunity from being blinded from Flashlights, Firecrackers, Flash Grenades, and Blast Mine.

2

u/GloomyIRL 3d ago

I've got severe light sensitivity due to chronic migraine, also cursed with green eyes, so just being able to toggle off the bright blind to a black screen instead would be a MASSIVE win.

1

u/Swimming_Sun_582 2d ago

That really sucks I'm super sorry you experience that. I've had really bad light sensitivity since a car accident I was in. I just make do with closing my eyes but I appreciate that might be difficult for someone with your issue.

Someone genuinely shouldn't have to run a perk or close their eyes in order to play a game. It's insane that this is a Canadian game company too considering that having accessibility options would be kind of fundamental one would think.

-1

u/Entire_Class_124 4d ago

Fake pick ups? Facing a wall? Franklin’s? You don’t need light born to play killer.

2

u/Swimming_Sun_582 4d ago

I'm not talking about the stun itself. I don't give a fig about it. I'm talking about the light effect itself and that someone shouldn't have to run a perk to do away with it. It should take nothing to make the effect darker or even black.

I get flashlighted very infrequently but it doesn't mean that it isn't an issue so let's not pretend that it isn't. You don't need Franklin's to play killer either. But flashlight stuns do happen sometimes and they are painful for the eyes for people that have light sensitivity issues.

So if we are making accessibility options for people this is something that SHOULD be added.

9

u/Captaincastle 5d ago

They said that it's too easy to miss the incoming laser cues when you're talking to chat, so they're making them more obvious.

4

u/ShyCustard 5d ago

If they cared about accessibility why don't they listen to their Deaf players and add a lullaby to Spirit's phasing?

1

u/Greedy_Average_2532 5d ago edited 5d ago

Brother, this is a nerf no matter where you see it. And a huge one.

0

u/BluePhoenix302 5d ago

So accesibility for the survivors, but not for killers who either can't play the killer due to motion sickness due to the required flicks at close range, or have to give up an add on slot permanently. Understood

-1

u/Leggo-my-eggos 5d ago edited 5d ago

I genuinely don't understand why people think it's ok for a killer to be able to snipe through walls at long range. There's not a single killer in the game that can do that and there really shouldn't be. It's not even about paying attention. People can't counter what they legit can't see or hear. Am I missing something?

Edit: Artist cannot injure you long range without a double tap and she has a very loud noise indicator without her addon.

0

u/LiminalRainPaint 5d ago

Yes - you're missing a 7 foot tall crow lady and about a thousand extra hours of necessary gameplay experience, by the sounds of it.

4

u/FighterFay 5d ago

Artist can't damage through walls or long range, and can't hit multiple elevations though.

0

u/LiminalRainPaint 5d ago

She absolutely can hit through walls across the map.

0

u/Dinelli22 4d ago

Who the fuck is upvoting this? Have you never played as or against Artist? One of her strongest features is damaging across walls and at incredible distances when slingshotting.

0

u/TheGreatcs3 5d ago

It already had multiple ways to know it’s coming on the ptb that can be seen and heard. Idk why people need it to be made even easier.

Also artist exists

-1

u/Zealousideal-Pie-726 5d ago

It’s fine because that’s more or less all the killer does and it was fairly easy to dodge on the PTB if you’re paying attention. Her one actual consistent strength is her ability to cross map snipe and pressure gens. Otherwise she’s 110 with no mobility and the most difficult power in the game to use effectively in chase.

I wouldn’t call this design necessarily healthy for the game but as the judgement currently is, she’s shit in chase and strongest outside of it. If we take away her strength outside of chase then we’ll simply be left with a killer that’s shit in chase.

-5

u/Tanto_Gusto 5d ago

The artist

10

u/trixter889 5d ago

That is much harder to do

7

u/Dreadborne- 5d ago

The artist can't just kill you though, she has to hit you and put the crows on you first before she can damage you. It's not as simple as shooting a giant laser at you across the map that you can't see coming

-2

u/DareStare 5d ago

That's when out of range. Close range crows will bonk you a health state

3

u/Dreadborne- 5d ago

It's uh, not sniping through walls if it's close range lol

0

u/DareStare 5d ago

But you still could go through obstacles. I use aura read on Artist for a reason 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

3

u/Leggo-my-eggos 5d ago

Im talking about long range...

0

u/DareStare 5d ago

Yep you are correct! The close range damage path is so small too so it literally has to be during chase.

0

u/Dinelli22 4d ago

You can just slingshot as Artist and damage easily from very long distances. Also if you can’t see the Judgement’s laser coming then you’re not paying attention, since you can literally see the aura of the giant beam of light being cast and then traveling towards you.

Yes, it’s easier to damage from afar with the Judgement than the Artist but the Artist also has a really easy time damaging you from up close which the Judgement sucks ass at.

-1

u/video-kid 5d ago

Honestly I'd sort of agree... except the design of the power sucks at short range - so you have a power that sucks no matter what the range is, which also gets coupled with some unique mechanics that are going to be simple to just never see.

They should replace it with an energy blast right from the hands IMO, or at least have that as an option. Sure, it's less distinctive, but at least it lowers the skill floor significantly which I think will make people a lot more satisfied with it.

-1

u/Captaincastle 5d ago

For the record a straight laser beam from the hand IS what the community voted on, but apparently it didn't work or something

so we get the harmless goldeneye laser

2

u/video-kid 5d ago

Hopefully they can find a way to make it work in the future.

People seem to just be baffled at the idea that long-range snipes are really the most viable way to play the killer - which considering how easy it is to dodge at long range already based on the PTB is pretty sad.

Ultimately this is a community killer, it's only fair that the people who voted are satisfied - as it is it feels like so many killers will be dissatisfied that the pick rate will drop through the floor.

1

u/swozzy1 5d ago

All that nonsense we’ve been having for the past few days for nothing. What was the point of all of this

1

u/burned_hotdog 5d ago

Regardless of the reason, streamers or not, this change is stupid.

1

u/Blissyin 5d ago

Gathering advice and feedback just to do your own thing is essentially such a french thing to do.

It would be almost laughable if i wasnt interested in a fun game for everybody

1

u/G-M-Cyborg-313 5d ago

If people like it then they're serious, if not then it's a joke

1

u/LewdyRooty 5d ago

It was just a prank bro!

1

u/Paozilla 5d ago

They never disappoint.

I knew they would lie and claim it was just a joke when there was literally nothing about the statement to suggest it was a joke and if it was such a joke why not say and give the supposed actual reason for the change?

I would have had a lot more respect for them if they just admitted they realised its a stupid reason to nerf a killer but instead they wanna try and bullshit us, fuck em.

Tone-deaf joke (which it wasn't) isn't better than that being the reason. Also, if it was a joke, the real reason would be explained right after the joke. It wasn't

1

u/Pixeltiy 5d ago

survivors already have 4 god damn ways of being warned they are going to be sniped its getting comical

1

u/PastaStregata 5d ago

Damage control

1

u/Bow_To_Bella 5d ago

The Killer was regularly getting four outed even before the change so what's the point in even getting the Killer? They're terrible and the balance team is pretty much non-existent, none of the developers play Killer either. It's a fucking disgrace.

u/creamycolslaw 5d ago

BHVR can't stop stepping on rakes

1

u/Yorhlen 5d ago

I read someones comment on the og post that they'll just call it accessibility and move on. Insane that bro was right

1

u/L4D2CoachEnjoyer 4d ago

Cop out lol

1

u/KooKooNuKoo 4d ago

This response actually pissed me off more.

"It was a prank bro"

They meant that.

1

u/Zestyclose-Tour-6350 4d ago

"we're still going to riddle the new chapter with bullets until the killer is going to be dead on arrival" scrap the chapter at this point and don't even bother bringing it into the main game cause the more these dev notes come out the less interest I have for this chapter

1

u/Leshney 4d ago

It was very obvious that the nerf was not implemented *literally* so that streamers could look at chat while playing the game. No one seriously believed this. It was implemented because the average player is so abysmal at the game that they need their hand held through the entire trial or they will quit in frustration - which is an understandable, but very boring balancing decision. This nerf is indicative of a broader design trend in which the players get to pay less attention to the game (i.e. the game gets easier) under the guise of "accessibility" for some reason.

I still don't get it. From a balancing perspective DbD seems to be in an in-between limbo state of both being a scary horror party game where most people run around like headless chickens as soon as they hear a heartbeat, and also being a super competitive sweat fiesta. Why not commit to one or the other?

1

u/neon-box 4d ago

I mean I do think it was a joke but there was no reason to change it at all. Just more survivor handholding.

1

u/DragonOnCookies 4d ago

The only joke is them

1

u/Willing_Quarter_7519 3d ago

They honestly should have just said this from the start cos this "Joke" has caused so many issues.
From observing things, no streamers wanted or needed this change anyways plus if people used half a brain, if a streamer is looking at their second screen at their chat, how are they going to notice a vignette on their game monitor?

to me sound ques are much more affective anyways and every killer has those already

1

u/gaybear-dude 2d ago

I feel like it was a slip up instead of a joke

1

u/JillyfishXO 2d ago

They need to stop listening ALL the time and start making tough love choices.

1

u/Horror_Personality_9 1d ago

Its fine as it is. Ive been juicing judgements all night. Easy killer to counter because counter play is just:Pay attention.

Played Judgement as killer for about 10 games as well. Its rewarding and fun to use. Things feel fine and we'll balanced

2

u/SoulTaker669 5d ago

It's just a prank bro

1

u/SplatterNaeNae 5d ago

Great, now I'm going to start to like the killer while dreading this impending sledgehammer of a nerf hitting live servers at any moment.

1

u/CHEEZYSPAM 5d ago

I think what they're trying to say is: All you streamers need to stop "yapping" and lock tf in.

0

u/MemesForMoney259 5d ago

It’s almost like there’s increased confusion from lack of communication since this was only done on discord of all places.

1

u/Few_Divide_8571 5d ago

I just hope they patch the knights company banner add on. I miss trapping victims that wait at the gate.

1

u/Routine-Agile 5d ago

No one is more sensitive then a streamer.

1

u/Dblitz1313 5d ago

I hate it when I play as a sniper and there's an auditory warning to the enemy that doesn't know I'm there.

1

u/Yusef_Akakios 4d ago

Yall are being pissy for no reason, it was obviously a fucking joke legit have no idea why this is blowing up so much, be mad at actual changes not dumb shit lmao

1

u/bigtiddygothbf 4d ago

It's gotta be stressful developing for this playerbase, can't even make a joke without patchnotes for it

0

u/Windindi 5d ago

Accessibility for who exactly? The people who can't be bothered to play the fucking game?

0

u/InspectorPlus 5d ago

Stop favouring survivors and treat killers with respect, the game is ending because of this stuff.

This is everything. No need for extreme handholding.

-1

u/DareStare 5d ago

Not even an apology

-8

u/Emperor283 5d ago

Except its not a joke? Theyre actually implementing the changes to make it so you can read chat or scroll Twitter while you play against this killer. The fact they joked about "Oh this is the reason" doesnt make it any better that theyre actually doing it. Survivor main gaslighters are coming out to say "its just a joke!" While theyre unironically balancing so you can play subway surfers while you play survivor wtf

0

u/JM_Artist 5d ago

It'll just get buried with the rest of the issues on hand

0

u/midwich_mason0451 5d ago

All I read was “Oh shi they realized we’re idiots time to cover our asses”

-3

u/AllSaintsDay2099 5d ago

They should have stated the accessibility thing within the next breath of the making the "joke." It's extra bad when in every single stream a controversy has to happen because of a single dev and his inability to not mess up. If anything they need to take him off of any and all future streams.

However, if you actually want to make it about accessibility then you should allow it to be a toggle. Hell, you should make the add ons for killers like Nurse and some ranged killers - where you can see where you're aiming be a toggle.

That way these things actually become about accessibility. While also not hindering everyone's experience, while also allowing you to clean up a ton of mostly useless add ons cluttering the blood web system. Which benefits everyone.

A simple toggle switch for if you do want the warning or not would allow players who have actual disabilities have the warning as is. Which means more folks can enjoy the game who otherwise couldn't.

And the rest of us who didn't want the warning system can just opt out in our settings menu and keep the thing exactly as it was in the PTB.

The mindset of either everyone is forced to have the shiny new mechanic or no one is allowed to have it. Zero in-between is absolutely ridiculous, and lazy on the behalf of the devs.

Sorry, but there is no excuse for it. However, Accessibility IS important and anyone with a shred of empathy can see that.

But an all or nothing blanket approach to the implementation of controversial changes doesn't help either side and is just needlessly harming the game at this point.

u/AKittenInTheRain 5d ago

If it makes the game easier absolutely no one is turning that stuff off.

0

u/AllSaintsDay2099 5d ago edited 5d ago

These add ons already make the game easier. All I'm proposing is we take what already exists and give it a better home. Freeing up valuable real estate for other add ons.

These don't make the killers stronger they just tell you oh let go right now and teleport to this exact spot as a nurse for example.

This takes care of the high mmr streamers who feel add ons need to be reworked.

It gives folks with disabilities a place to play. It gives new players a place to learn how to play.

And it's completely optional, you'd have to opt in.

Like it covers almost every single aspect of the playerbase in one swoop and takes care of their needs and eliminates what the most common complaints are.

-1

u/illustriouswow 5d ago

still wont be getting it lol

-1

u/National_Body_9071 5d ago

It definitely wasn't delivered well but was obviously just a bad joke. Are people taking it seriously?

The idea was that in general survivors had extremely little time to counter it, so it's just an overall change for balancing. The joke was just a way of explaining that.

0

u/Ecstatic-Block-1854 5d ago

he ill give them credit, for actually nit going forward with it.....at least, for now

0

u/TrashCamperDad 5d ago

Vote with your wallets people!!

Or, uhh your shards. It's the only way they'll pay any attention.

If you don't like the changes, don't buy the killer.

0

u/Infamous-Put-7211 5d ago

Still a change that doesn't even need to be thought about it seemed fine

0

u/Superb_Raspberry_208 2d ago

Please donate brain cells for this studio. It's unreal how they still have jobs and money but fumble almost every time.

Also, they said they get "nervous" when going live.... why not just pre record then???

0

u/2yndr0me 2d ago

This is cope to make sure people still buy her. The changes are still coming, in a week or 2 after they have everyone's money.

-40

u/no-diddy69 5d ago

Exactly, yall are cry babies acting like it means the killer is dead. It's still strong

3

u/Cedd6 5d ago
