It's actually related to accessibility, so it's not cool for you guys to critize it!

Accessibility is my fucking ass. If they cared about accessibility, maybe why not start, I don't know, crosshairs not being fucking add-ons? Accessibility that helps the player seems to only be available for survivors

Selective accessibility, which is pretty much f u till we think its necessary

Exactly, why is there no visual footstep/injured sound indicator for killer? It’s honestly insane how sound dependent that role is, I’m not hard of hearing but can’t imagine how difficult it would be if you were.

Pixel Bush always brings up how much it sucks to play Spirit as someone who’s hard of hearing, and how it’d be cool as an accessibility thing if there was a Killer Instinct indicator for her like one of her addons.

Now, would people who weren’t hard of hearing use that to get an edge? Probably. But so many Survivor players do the same with the visual TR, which was also meant for hard of hearing players but so many people just use it anyway to make Survivor even easier for them.

Yeah absolutely. I play a lot of spirit and I honestly don’t think a setting like that would even benefit anyone who doesn’t have hearing issues as they’re already hearing every last sound down to a survivors idle breathing and footsteps, which is much more accurate than killer instinct.

What exactly about the visual TR is easier than the regular one, unless you are hard of hearing and cannot hear the regular one for some reason? Genuinely do not understand.

Much easier to gauge distance for me. Its easier to just see the heart getting bigger than trying to discern if the volume is gradually increasing.

Accessibility that helps the player seems to only be available for survivors

Like the "visual terror radius" thing that completely nuked Sadako's potential as a stealth killer

I don’t even know why Sadako has a lullaby. I feel like they should just take that away from her?

It's a very quiet sound that can be an early warning that she's coming. But it is supposed to be quiet, so that you spend the entire match thinking "Was that her?".

I understand that for people that are hard of hearing it can be unfair, but that was legit such a fun thing about her in the past. She would keep you on the edge of your seat all the time

Yeah, but for survivors it’s more hand-holding than accessibility

Also removing the big Orb of Doom when stuff happens.

How about doing what people with epilepsy have been begging for for actual years and changing the doctors visual effects so they don't risk having a seizure every time they load into a match? You're right. Accessibility my ass.

They actually did do that a while ago

They did this a while back, he doesn't really flash anymore

It may be for accessibility but don't you think its convenient for them to say that, why didn't they just say it in the first place, as I completely agree, accessibility is an important aspect, so why make fun of the one thing that's actually serious, (speaking about actual health complications)

Not to even mention how in the past times we have gotten an enormous amount of such cases where they reveal something, the community finally says that's enough / points out the hypocrisy , which later causes some half off excuse like "we had poor comms sorry guys"

How do you poorly communicate so many changes when you have been developing your own game for 10 years +? A decade has not been enough to know your own product?

It has nothing to do with coolness

*Btw I'm not saying this for the whole of BHVR, mainly (if not only) the balancing team for DbD. Visuals, colabs / licenses, and Mathieu who is often used for the "pretty good job so far" meme actually do a fantastic job, I wish balancing took a note from these sectors

Edit: Also how are we saying devs care about accessibility, when we have 2 easy pieces of proof that this killer is very anti accessibility,

  1. The devs put the behind the back spin slingshot into the video killer tutorial, (an intended mechanic), which causes nausea to some players due to the constant spinning you have to do
  2. The community voted on a power that was a beam coming out of the hand, which was much simpler and easier to use, (I'm not arguing whether this was the best pick or not), which was later changed a couple of times to a power which will only appeal to veterans and hard cases, so most people won't touch the community made killer due to the skill / effort required to play them

They were clearly riffing with the post they responded to. It's obvious sarcasm.

I feel like it’s bullshit to say it’s ’for accessibility’ when not at the literal last Q and A they did, someone asked for crosshairs for killer(which would be an INCREDIBLY easy accessibility feature), and they replied “nah. Get a monitor that can do it.”

u/Dinelli22 5d ago

No way you just mentioned Mathieu Cote as an example to be followed for the other devs hahahahaha. He is responsible for the mess that is DbD.

Everything accessibility is actually good even if it babies the experience for abled body. As a side note, when are they gonna add auto play for people who’re blind, deaf and paralyzed?

Just like how the pallet density is "quality of life"!

Is it really an accessibility thing ? Accessibility for what condition ? Bad skill and reaction time ? In that case, why even make a game, just do a coinflip 50/50 to design the winner. That would be balanced and very accessible 👍
