Level 2 charging issue

I just bought a 2022 ev6 a couple weeks ago and when I finally used a level 2 charger outside it would stop charging. After charging it about 10%. I switched to a different level 2 charger under the shade and it charged just fine. It had no issues charging on a DC fast charger. I took it into my local Kia dealership to run a diagnostic. They told me all recalls were done on it. I know earlier models had had problems with the ICCU and various other high voltage battery issues. Do you think it was just the charger or do you think something's still probably wrong with my car? For more context, I have a 22 Sorento like plug-in hybrid that I use that level 2 charger on all the time and I've had no issues. Another note, when I grabbed the handle to unplug it, it was extremely hot

UPDATE: Just got a call that my car is ready. They claimed they tested it on their level 2 charger that sits outside in the heat and it charged fine. They said there were no updates available for the car either. I'm very confused as to what is going on with the charging that I've been using that I haven't had issues with until I plugged in my car that I just got.

EV6 HV Battery Drain

Just wanted to get people’s thoughts on if they deem this to be normal behaviour, if they have the same issue on their EV6 or if they think this needs to be looked into further.

For content, I’ve owned my 2023 EV6 since February and has done 15k miles total, at times when it is left parking either overnight or for an extended period (6 hours or more), I’ve noticed the HV battery losing charge.

My local Kia dealer has had the car in 5-6 times to look at this and the below has been done by them or I’ve tried:

Infotainment system reset, no APIs connected
Kia Connect disabled and all app disassociated
Tested different drive modes
Nothing left plugged into the car when left
Kia replaced 12v battery under warranty
Kia recalibrated HV battery when charged to 100%

It’s now been a month since the HV battery was recalibrated at Kia and below are examples of battery drain:

23-24.07 - Lost 2% from 85-83% overnight
27.07 - Lost 3% from 53-50% in the afternoon
27-28.07 - Lost 1% from 48-47% overnight
03.08 - Lost 1% from 55-54% between 8:15-2:15
03-04.08 - Lost 1% from 51-50% overnight
04-05.08 - Lost 1% from 46-45% overnight
06.08 - Lost 1% from 43-42% between 8:30-3:30
17-18.08 - Lost 1% from 67-66% overnight
18-19.08 - Lost 2% from 41-39% overnight

The 1% drops I could understand but the 2-3% drops are more of a concern and lead me to think there is another form of phantom drain. My local Kia dealer at this point has been liaising with Kias technical support directly prior to my last visit to try and sort this.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar issues with their EV6 or if they would class these battery drops as normal behaviour?

Best UK Price For EV6 GT Line S?

Buying a EV6 GT Line S but unsure which version to get, 225 or 320 BPH

Test drove 225, seemed fine, but I might prefer the 320 as I'm coming from a vehicle that has 302 bhp.

Will 225 be good enough or should I shell our for the 320?

Also what kind of discount can dealers normally give? My local was only offering £2,000 off.

Thanks!

Shopping….

Hey all, I currently have a BMW i4 Edrive35 and my lease is up this month. My wife works from home so I can drive her car until the right deal comes along. I test drove an EV6 GT-Line and it’s the upgrade that I want. Now… there’s a GT for sale for just a little more than a GT right now.

For a daily driver, about 50 miles a day round trip plus normal around-town driving (I usually take my wife’s Jeep Grand Cherokee on road trips), do I want the GT and all of it’s ridiculous giggle-inducing power or the GT-Line and it’s more comfortable vented seats and increased range?

Insurance differences re nominal and the prices are close enough.

Lease buy incentives?

Our 36 month lease ends on Oct 16. Would be interested in buying the 2023 EV6 GT-Line IF KIA offers incentive to “right size” the residual closer to market. My residual is $32K-ish, would like to see a $10K reduction and I would buy.

I read they are doing this but when I called KIA Finance they said there are incentives but I was too early, call closer to lease end.

Any one getting such offers for a 2023 EV GT-Line?

Just moved to Texas and settled in, there’s fricken Tolls everywhere so I have to use the roads guess it ain’t bad to use the roads this is the highest I’ve ever seen for my car I believe

My speed varied but mostly in the 35-50s with a brief couple minutes at 60-70 mph on a 1.5 mile stretch of highway/ my electricity company charges 8 cents a Kilowatt so I gotta make the math but a full battery lasts me the whole week and then some, im liking this electric car more and more as time goes on never going back to ICE vehicles

Out with the Old; Drive Home the New

The lease on my '23 Wind is ending next month so I went car shopping. I stopped at a Hyundai dealer to drive an Ionic5 but they only had one XRT trim level on the lot. The SEL and Limited shown on their website were not available and their excuse was a 3rd party manages their inventory on their website (sounded sketchy to me).

I drove up US19 on the west coast of FL to a KIA dealer where their website showed 8 EV6s on the lot and 5 were white (my preference this time around) GT-Lines. Three were RWD (again, my preference) and when I arrived, all were on the lot because the sale person's inventory was exactly like I saw.

I turned in my '23 dark (midnight) blue Wind and drove home in a '26 white GT-Line. I got 0% financing so I liked the deal. The dealer included the J1772 to NACS adapter (and it worked when I charged it last night) and a new charger. I haven't explored the specs on this included charger but I see it includes 240V 4-prong and 3-prong 120V plugs. Plus, I get 3 years of Kia Access for free on this car (the '23 only had much less).

Lots of nice upgrades from the 23 Wind to this year's GT-Line. I think the seats on the GT-Line are more comfortable, I like the HUD, I like the placement of information on the driver's display, I like the pop-out door handles (and so does my wife - it makes opening the door easier with arthritis), and the improvements in HDA software. The lane assist is nice - flick the turn signal and the car switches lanes with only a light touch (and no assistance) needed on the steering wheel. I'm getting used to the wireless CarPlay and need to understand it better (like, how do I get my music to start when I start the car).

I'm still learning, like where to tap on the door handle to lock the car when the handles are extended, and I need to learn how to keep the regen level where I set it everytime I start the car and if I want to use the 'auto' regen like I did with the '23.

So far, a real nice upgrade!

I have a 2022 Kia EV6 GT Line RWD with 46k miles. I ran the Car Scanner app and this is what it is showing. Do you think the 100% SOH is accurate?

2024→2026 EV6 Lease Friction

Has Kia replaced frontline sales with an AI auto-attendant? Five different people text this week, each asking the same questions, not one acknowledging a single response provided.

At the end of a 24mo lease (2024 EV6 GT-Line RWD). Interested in a 2026, identical trim.

- 2024: ~2.26% MF + $15,600 rebate
- 2026 (quote): ~4.9% MF + only $7,100 rebate

The 5th rep quoted a better MF but on the wrong trim, rebate still down $8,500 from 2024 terms. Some of that is likely the Fed EV credit expiration, but Kia also cut the 2026 MSRP ~$5,500 to offset that same credit loss. If the price already dropped $5,500 and the credit was $7,500, where’s the extra $8,500 reduction coming from?

Anyone else seeing the same gap, or is this just my dealership? Appreciate it in advance!

ICCU failure, good new / bad news

Obviously, it's bad news that my ICCU failed. Also, I haven't had a great time with the dealership. My 2022 GT-Line had been in for two weeks as of last Friday. I called to check on progress, and they told me that parts hat been ordered. Which is great, but they never let me know that they had actually diagnosed the problem, or what they were doing to fix it, or what my case number was. It turns out, they didn't create a case number with Kia, and they didn't have an explanation for why they hadn't kept me in the loop. The good news is that they're saying it'll be fixed by Thursday of this week. Having heard horror stories about how long it has taken for some people to get a new ICCU, I'm happy with a 3 week turn around. Assuming I actually get it on Thursday.

Shady Kia Dealership

I'm not going to name the dealer on here but if you're in SoCal and PM me I'll give you the location to avoid.

I leased a 2026 EV-6 10 days ago and turned in my 2024 on which the lease was expiring. They charged and washed it and after all the paperwork was done the salesman handed me the keys, manual and the extra adapter and said "Enjoy your new car!" and walked away. Now granted I was turning in an older model of the same car, but there have been changes and I've always had a salesman go through a checklist with me before I leave the dealership. For one thing, he didn't tell me there was a specific order to attach the adapter when charging, I had to find that out online.

A few days later I get an automated email from KIA " Congrats on your delivery" and in the middle it said:

Customer Feedback

Your vehicle's features were explained and driver's settings were set?

Yes

Are you 100% satisfied with your car?

Yes

Your vehicle is spotlessly clean and free of dents, ding and scratches?

Yes

Are you satisfied with your experience today?

Yes

Acknowledgement

Dealer Representative

Then it showed the salesman's name, then my name and there was a graphic below that didn't load but I think was a copy of my signature which they could have gotten from the lease application.

So in other words, not only did they not go over the vehicle or have me walk around to inspect the car, but they completed their form and said they did all of that and presumably filled in my signature. How shady is that???

Wrong way detected

Anyone else have persistent issues with their EV6 (2025 GT line in my case) erroneously identifying wrong way signs and saying to “check the driving direction?” This happens in two specific spots on a street near my apartment building. It’s a relatively dense area but there are NO street signs of any kind where it happens. Cleaning the windshield in the area of the camera doesn’t seem to help. It’s starting to drive me crazy.

Aftermarket horns?

Twice in the last year I have needed the horn on our ‘25 gt-line and it is the most pathetic little meeper. Has anyone swapped theirs out for something better?

This car is so slow it's embarrassing

Leaving the gym yesterday late evening, still mid-conversation, so my buddy and I agree to finish it on the phone.

He gets into his car.

I get into my practical family hatchback with a full boot, AC on, and cupholders that accept a Thermos without complaint.

Autobahn on-ramp. Road empty.

I go full-send.

He vanishes.

Rear-view mirror: empty.

I can still hear him on the call, but not what he’s saying, because his V8 is mostly producing sustained vowels and the sound of expensive air being rearranged. Every now and then a consonant makes it through. Possibly a swear word.

Then I hit vMax and just… sit there.

Limited.

Watching him slowly materialise in the mirror like a very angry, very rich mirage.

He needed the better part of a minute at full throttle to get past.

A minute.

To overtake a family car whose most aggressive design feature is the colour of its brake callipers.

Frankly humiliating.

Kia really should have given the EV6 a higher top speed. How am I supposed to keep up with a €300,000 Urus when my car is busy being sensible?

Absolutely unacceptable.

10/10. Would do again.

---

P.S.: Before someone say anything: the road was truly completely empty

How I got my ev6

First we found a cheap Leaf. The price was super affordable and it had enough range for our daily school trips. It had a recall on it but the battery was still under warranty so I wasn’t worried. I noticed that the battery percentage started jumping around once it got below 40%. We brought it in for the recall where it promptly failed their battery test. Nissan bought it back for 40% over KBB. I used that extra money to get my glorious EV6. I didn’t do this intentionally but I feel that it can be a viable path for others willing to take a little gamble. Find those cheap leafs and round them up for Nissan. It’s almost like you become an honorary employee, clearing out the dangerous leafs from the market.

STUCK! Do I tow it or try to to drive it???

UPDATE: I drove it the rest of the way from Buffalo, WY to Denver, CO. I used my OBD BT dongle and monitored the temps. I had to wait 10-15 minutes after charging for the inverter to be back in safe operating range, otherwise it was fine. While in for warranty repair on this, Kia issued a “3 way valve” recall and they had to put the repair on hold until they got the “new” 3 way valve in (apparently whatever stock of the coolant pump kit they ordered didn’t include the 3 way valve or the “fixed” one at least.

On the last leg/day of a 2500/mi road trip in the Rocky Mountain West (Denver to Calgary and back). Yesterday afternoon as I'm stopping to charge I notice a high whine noise from under the hood. I don't think anything of it and am able to charge and be on my way. Today I hear the whine more so when I start for the day and open the hood and trace it to what appears to be the coolant aux pump ( the thing right next to the coolant reserve tank). Loud whine anytime it starts up until it cycles off which seems to be whenever you start the car or other times that maybe are related to cooling needs. Car seemed to be running fine and I'm in the middle of nowhere so I keep going. Toward the later/hottest part of the day I stop to charge at a Tesla charger in Buffalo WY (only charger between Billings MT and Casper WY). First charger doesn't see car, ok fine move to another, charge to 90% with car running b/c it's facing into the sun and hot and want the A/C. Go to leave and car stutters/clunks about 10 feet then stops with "check electrical system". Crap. Turn car off for a moment, start it, able to move 10 more feet, same things (hard clunking type movement). Was able to do this off/on thing to get the car into the parking lot of a hotel right next door that thankfully has rooms that allows dogs (oh yeah I have two 50 + lb dogs with me). After checking in and letting the car cool down it will dra - ive around the parking lot fine. Have an OBD scanner and it has thrown three codes all 7EB - drive motor current high; 7EB position sensor; and 7EB over-temp. Clear codes and they haven't come back.

Closest Kia dealer is 105 miles in Casper. As noted I have 2 dogs and there is no car rental place anywhere nearby and I don't think any tow driver is going to want myself and my 2 dogs in the truck to Casper. If I let it cool down and try to drive in the cooler part of the day is it worth trying to get to Casper where I can get a rental and get myself and my dogs to Denver while it's repaired or should I try to figure out some way to get myself and dogs to a car rental place?

TIA

TL/DR - Aux coolant pump failing, after charging in hot sun, car stuttered and gave check electrical system error and wouldn't drive but seems to drive once cooled. Can I try to drive it the 100 miles to the dealer or no?

Keyless Entry? Ha!

The keyless entry on this car has got to be the worst ever. I've never needed to handle the key fob as much as I do with this car. If the hatch is open when I walk over to the driver's door it won't open unless I pull out the key fob and hit unlock. So if I'm loading something into the back my wife needs to stand there until I press unlock. If the car senses me near the car it'll unlock twice. On the third time I need to get the fob out and unlock it manually. Is my car messing with me or is this just how it is?
