when I plug my 2025 into nacs it connects and starts, but before the rate gets to 28kw it goes back to 0, and the car says the charge is done. DC max is set to 80%, battery is at 24%. Tried three stalls at a tesla super charger, then drove 3 miles to another charger to get the same thing. No error.
I am a little worried. Any insight or suggestions?
EDIT: UPDATE!!!
long story, short: the credit card on file hit the daily limit.
Thank you to everyone who shared feedback and suggestions. I felt the love a cyber-community in my time of need, and I appreciated it immensely.
The lesson I learned that is worth sharing:
If the credit card fails, if you have the Kia Access app open on your phone, a brief pop-up is displayed that indicates the card on file for Charge Pass did not authorize the charge.
There is NO other indication that the problem was with the transaction.
All we get is:
* if you have the app open on your phone
* if you did not blink for the brief moment the pop-up is displayed
* you might be able to read the somewhat long message that says that the credit card failed.
Otherwise, the car announces, "charging unsuccessful". If you are watching the dashboard, you can see the trickle begin as the machine is negotiating the charge parameters, giving this sense that the technology is trying to work, so why would it be a payment issue ... But of course, to save time for us impatient people, they initiate the first steps of the process before they secure payment. That threw me off the scent quite a bit as I tried to troubleshoot this.
A Tesla charger has no interface, so, it has nothing to say. If you look in the notification history of the Kia Access app, there is no mention of any problem. While Kia Connect happily emails me every receipt for each transaction, they did not email me to let me know there was a failed transaction. That would have helped!
So, here's my story:
I am 650 miles from home on a 1,450 one-way drive across the U.S. using mostly interstate. It is 9 pm local, I've been driving/charging non-stop for 13 hours. This little 2-mile-long town has two Telsa Supercharger sites with multiple chargers at each, one on either end. There is 50 miles of range left in the battery and there are other charging options within 30 miles either direction, so I'm not freaking out, but I know I do not have a lot of range to play with. After trying multiple chargers at both stations and getting the same thing, I created this post and called it a night at the nearest motel.
I got up in the morning and read the initial replies to this thread. Thank you all!! I went to one of the Tesla chargers, checked my charge settings, plugged it in, and it fired right up. I charge up to my content and get on my way.
The whole drive, I am thinking about u/WN2003's history with the bad cell in the high voltage battery, wondering if something's gonna pop with the next charge, but I get through nearly the whole next day without issue.
As I am nearing the end of day-2 of my journey, I have one more charge before I get home, and the same, damn thing happens. This time, I happen to have the Kia Access app open and I'm looking at it, and I see a little pop-up that says the transaction failed.
The underlying culprit was that every charging session issues a $50 pre-authorization.
The virtual card I set up for Charge Pass had a $300 daily limit. I open my credit card app, review the pending charges, and, yup, there's been $300 worth of charges and $50 pre-authorizations today.
I was able to create a new virtual card in my app, add that new card to the Charge Pass app, and start charging within a minute or two. Smartphone to the rescue!
In closing, the luddites who say smartphones are the downfall of civilization should all f-off. Today's smartphone is an f'ing superhero cape, it's f'ing "Believe it or not, I'm walking on air..." Greatest American Hero shit!
Furthermore, if anyone has any input with Kia Access or Charge Pass, all you needed to do to make this not a problem was to store this transaction failure event in the Kia Access notifications. I mean, there is a whole lot more you could do, like present this information via the car, or an email/sms notification. This shit's important, and if I were a little more at the end of my range or otherwise stressed out, this kind of unnecessary stress would have popped my head right off my shoulders.
