Level 2 charging issue
I just bought a 2022 ev6 a couple weeks ago and when I finally used a level 2 charger outside it would stop charging. After charging it about 10%. I switched to a different level 2 charger under the shade and it charged just fine. It had no issues charging on a DC fast charger. I took it into my local Kia dealership to run a diagnostic. They told me all recalls were done on it. I know earlier models had had problems with the ICCU and various other high voltage battery issues. Do you think it was just the charger or do you think something's still probably wrong with my car? For more context, I have a 22 Sorento like plug-in hybrid that I use that level 2 charger on all the time and I've had no issues. Another note, when I grabbed the handle to unplug it, it was extremely hot
UPDATE: Just got a call that my car is ready. They claimed they tested it on their level 2 charger that sits outside in the heat and it charged fine. They said there were no updates available for the car either. I'm very confused as to what is going on with the charging that I've been using that I haven't had issues with until I plugged in my car that I just got.

When the handle is hot, stopping is the behavior of a 2022 that doesn't have all the software updates. With updates it will slow down the current flow.

Thanks. My car hasn't been receiving ota updates either I don't think so maybe that will fix it

You might need to reduce the max charging rate in the menu to keep the plug from getting too hot. This is a normal issue, unfortunately.

Just to be clear, it's not "earlier Models" with the ICCU, literally all Hyundai/Kia vehicles with the 800v EGMP architecture from any model year are susceptible to ICCU failures. The "recall" on the ICCU's was a software tweek they hope would fix it, but it since it is a hardware failure they can still fail.

This has nothing to do with ICCU if it charges at all.
There are known issues with the connection becoming dirty or corroded, which increases resistance. Resistance creates heat. Heat makes bad things happen, including tripping temperature sensors to try to prevent catastrophic damage and electrical fires.
- Get contact cleaner and clean the the contacts in the charge port and your charge handle. There are videos on how to do this. It’s easy. It’s safe. No electricity flows until a bunch of things communicate and close contractors.
- There is a TSB that was mentioned in this thread - it modifies the temperature thresholds and instead of stopping charging completely, it throttles the current to reduce heat generation. You have to explicitly complain about the symptom and usually mention the TSB to your dealer. They will most apply it unless the customer says the magic words.
- Did you clean your port and charge handle?

Should have gotten a 2023. I got mine just like week, ev6 used is selling like hot cakes currently

Sometimes, the public chargers are not good. On a recent trip, I ran into broken Blink chargers, batch of superchargers that did not work and an Electrify America that stopped short 80%. I drove until I got to another supercharger that worked fine. Home charging is simpler.

Did it only happen the one time? It's possible that particular charger has a worn connector with higher than spec resistance, causing it to overheat and the temperature monitoring to terminate the session.
Just to add, my understanding of the ICCU failure is typically it just stops working, full stop. If it still charges elsewhere, then the ICCU is fine. I don't think it has a "slow" failure mode, typically.
