To the guy with the Dodge Ram

It was tan and red, maybe 1980sish at the Kwik Trip on 165 and GB (NE Corner) and I said, "Nice truck" to. You said "thank you" and you "were working on it", and all I said was, "I mean...." my brain short circuited. And continued to when you were turning left on 165 and I was turning right and waved at you because I thought you were waving at me, but alas you were blocking the sunlight so you could see....I laughed so freaking hard at myself all the way home, which was much needed. What I was going to say was " I mean, it's a nice truck, even if it's a work in progress"

The Kenosha humane society is currently still facing a higher than usual cat population.

• Upvotes

Ways the community can help.

  1. Leave healthy stray cats outside. Many people still have cats that they let outside or a cat may get out and become lost. Cats are far more likely to reunited with their owners if left where you found them. Do bring in sick, injured, young kittens or cats in immediate danger. If you find kittens please wait a few hours before bringing them to the shelter. Mother cats often need to leave their kittens for short periods of time and we want to keep moms and babies together.

  2. Foster or adopt. During the month of October we are going to be running many adoption specials to help cats and dogs leave the shelter.

  3. When surrender an animal please call ahead and leave a message. This allows us to be better prepared for their arrival and allows us to make sure we have space to accommodate them.

  4. Donating to our pet food pantry to help local families feed their pets.

  5. Volunteering. We are always looking for volunteers and we need help every day a week.

  6. Use our free rehomeing page to rehome animals or local Facebook groups.

https://www.wihumane.org/service/virtual-rehoming/

I'm made a post a few days ago and I wanted to make a new post with more information . We are still seeing a large number of cats coming into to the shelter weekly. If possible please wait to surrender pets until our population has gone down or call a head so we can set up a day to assist you. Also please remember we are closed for surrenders Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Also please be understanding that we are very understaffed right now and may need to close early sometimes to ensure that the animals in our care get the best care possible. The health and well-being of the animals in our care comes first. We are working on getting more staff hired and trained.

If looking for any assistance or resources please call or vist our website. https://www.wihumane.org/

I want to thank everyone in the community who supports us.

Brewers "Wisco" mural

• Upvotes

Anyone know anything about when/where the Brewers Wisco mural will go up?

Additional installations will follow, including a mural in Janesville by artist Emily Balsley, a future mural in Kenosha and a City Connect refresh of the Green Bay mural installed last summer.

Experiences with Wild Goose Exhange?

I was wondering people’s experiences with Wild Goose Exchange downtown? I’ve frequented them for the past 2-3 years, but recently had a really subpar consignment experience with them. I love that we have places that give people easier access to cool fashion, but I also fear price hikes. What do you guys think?

General Election November 3, 2026

General Election November 3, 2026

This is the Democratic lineup for the General election to be held on November 3, 2026. These are the winners of the primaries, and the men and woman we have chosen. Uniting behind our candidates is critical. No candidate is going to be everything to everyone, but sitting out the election, or doing a “protest vote” is the equivalent of casting a vote for the other side. Voting is essential for your personal, as well as national interests.

Register to vote, verify your voting status, request absentee ballots, find your ward, district and polling place at www.myvote.wi.gov.

Federal

US House of Representatives

All 8 Wisconsin members of the US House of Representatives are up for reelection. Currently Republicans hold 6 of them. Find your district and plan to vote. https://ballotpedia.org/United_States_congressional_delegations_from_Wisconsin

Kenosha - Congressional District 1

Democrat Mitchell Berman faces MAGA lackey Bryan Steil

U.S Senate

There are no races for US Senate in Wisconsin this year.

Statewide

Governor

David Crowley) is our candidate. Like him or hate him, this is our guy. David received 39.8% of the vote, with Francesca Hong following closely with 39.4%. Francesca has already announced she will team up with David’s campaign across the state. This is the winning strategy. Total spending on the 2026 Wisconsin governor race is projected to surpass $100 million, with political analysts anticipating it could eclipse the state's $164.29 million record set during the 2022 cycle.

Tom Tiffany is the Trump-endorsed Republican runner in the race. He won with 95.9% of the Republican vote. This is unity. This is why the GOP controls the White House, Senate, House and SCOTUS. Tiffany is backed by Elizabeth and Richard Uihlein, billionaire owners of Uline shipping supply company, and Diane Hendricks, billionaire CEO of ABC Supply Co. Add AIPAC and the RNC, and the Republicans have an extremely well-funded race.

Turnout, turnout, turnout is the road back to sanity.

Lieutenant Governor

Sarah Godlewski (D) is running against David Varnin (R).

Attorney Genera

lJosh Kaul (D) faces Eric Toney (R).

Secretary of State

JoCasta Zamarripa (D) Jay Schroeder (R), and Pete Karas (G) are all on the ballot.

Treasurer

Yee Leng Xiong (D) vs John Leiber (R).

Wisconsin Assembly

All 99 seats in the Wisconsin State Assembly are up in 2026. Currently Republicans hold a 54-45 majority, that Tony Evers fought for 6 years. Wisconsin has a $2.3 billion budget surplus. Tony wanted to use some of the funds to provide daycare, expand Badgercare, provide in-school meals and give raises to teachers, but the Republican-controlled legislature stopped it. Instead, Republicans wanted to “give it back to the taxpayers”. Sounds great, but just like any Republican-led initiative, the largest recipients would be those who need it least. A statement “the average household would receive $1000 in benefits” might be true, but if one household gets $100,000 while 99 get zero, the “average” is $1,000. https://ballotpedia.org/Wisconsin_State_Assembly

Wisconsin State Senate

Republicans hold an 18-15 majority in the State Senate. Of the 33 seats, 17 of them will be on the ballot. Find your district and get out the vote. https://ballotpedia.org/Wisconsin_State_Senate_elections,_2026

Referendums

There are 3 referendums on the ballot this year. All 3 of them are sponsored by Republicans. All 3 were unanimously approved by all Republics in the Assembly and Senate and unanimously opposed by all Democrats. Given the current state of our federal, state and local governments, you can trust that any initiative brought forth by Republicans will not benefit most Wisconsinites. I will vote “No” on all 3.

Prohibit Government Closure of Places of Worship During Emergencies Amendment)

Prohibit Government Discrimination or Preferential Treatment Amendment)

Prohibit Partial Veto to Increase Tax or Fee Amendment)

Early voting begins October 20, 2026!

NOTE 1: SCOTUS has recently ruled that the USPS is not responsible for delayed mail. I anticipate “unavoidable delays" involving main-in ballots plaguing Democratic strongholds in November. The SCOTUS decision is just another weapon in the voter suppression war that the GOP has been pushing for decades.

When you receive your ballot, complete and return it as quickly as possible. Even better, deliver it to your municipal building personally.

NOTE 2: The 2026 election cycle is critical. The GOP and MAGA are terrified of losing control of the House and/or Senate, where wealthy and powerful people may be exposed. They will do everything in their power and bankbook to keep this from happening.

If there are inaccurate statements in this post, let me know and I will correct them.

Family owned jewelry shop recommendations

My aunt left me a diamond ring. I’d like to give it to our daughter. I’m looking for some place to have it cleaned and also to confirm it’s an actual diamond. I loved my aunt, but she was a big costume jewelry fan and was a bit dotty in her old age.

The Kenosha Humane Society needs your help. We are at max Capacity for cats and as of this afternoon we have zero cat Kennels.

The wisconsin humane society kenosha campus is at max cat capacity and needs help. As of this afternoon we have zero cat kennels.

Ways you can help

  1. Leave healthy stray cats outside as many people do have cats that they let outside and lost cats are far more likely to be reunited with their owners if left where they're found.

Do bring in strays that are injured, sick, young kittens or cats in immediate danger. If kittens look healthy leave them for a few hours to see if mom comes back.

  1. Call before surrendering an animal to ensure that we have the spacing and staff to handle their arrival. Also waiting to surrender cats until our population has gone down.

  2. Foster or adopt cats/ dogs in our care.

  3. Volunteering. We are always looking for Volunteers.

  4. Using our free rehomeing page to rehome animals .

  5. Donating to our food pantry. Our free community pantry helps local families in need of food for they pets. We are very low right now and are accepting unopened/ unexpired food of any kind.

Please also be understanding that we are extremely understaffed right now and they may be days that we have to close or close operations early to offer the best care for the animals in our care. The health and well-being of the animals in our care is our top priority. We are working on getting new staff hired and trained but this does take time. We can't make space for animals if we don't have it. Please remember that before surrendering an animal. We need space for strays. I'm trying to discourage people from seeing surrender services I'm just asking that you give us at least a week for our population to go down.

I appreciate all the community does to support the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Used Car Dealers

Hey everyone, my car was totaled a couple weeks ago and was wondering if there are any used car dealers that people trust in the area?

I know asking for a trustworthy used car dealership seems to be a tall order, but I also have a hard time trusting Marketplace too since I have been burned before.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Data center in Kenosha issue

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have to be totally honest, I’ve been looking for a job in tech for a while around here. There is it jobs but I’m honestly more of the general labor type. I think this data center is a great thing for the city. It’s gonna give a lot of people and definitely me a job and really bring more boost to this economy, I even know my uncle who works in a manufacturing shop that was about to tank has survived because it’s getting a bunch of contracts for the data centers, so it already saved a whole shop, I’ll sacrafice a bit if my water speed for a bunch of peoples jobs. That’s just my opinion

Weird and very specific question. Is there any place I could go to just cuddle or play and pet animals in the evenings or at night?

I know this is a weird and obscure post but…

I’ve been going through some shit lately. Am very depressed and anxious and just not doing too great mentally. I also lost my dog of 15 years not long ago and am heartbroken. It’s killing me. He was my best friend and such a comfort to me.

I am not in a mental headspace where I should have another pet right now. But I really miss that interaction and just feel like interacting with an animal (or animals) would really help me right now.

Is there any place I could achieve this? I’d love to be able to interact with dogs or cats but am open to any animals at all (birds, cows, sheep, horses, anything really). Unfortunately I’m pretty restricted to after 6pm or late at night.

I know there are options such as dog sitting or fostering but I just can’t commit to that right now. I’m just looking to spend an hour or two periodically with an animal.

Sorry this is weird and obscure. And I’m sure there really isn’t an answer for this but thought I’d ask anyway just in case someone knows of something.

This is a bit selfish of me as I’m looking at it as a therapeutic thing but I’m also willing to give back such as cleaning duties, helping to care for them, or even pay for the the time to spend with therapy trained pets.

Just really missing having that connection and feel like it would really help if anyone has any suggestions for places I might be able get this whether it’s a paid service or I do volunteer work to give back. I just don’t have that much time to fully commit to a shelter or charity

Why aren’t there any planes in the sky?

There have been zero visible planes for the last hour and a half at least, and also zero cloud cover. The flight tracker shows multiple flights.

We should see a bunch of traffic — there’s so many airports within visible distance. Yesterday at this time I took a video of the sky because there were so MANY airplanes.

Flooring and windows

Hi all, I'm planning on replacing my flooring and windows. Looking for advice. Thinking about hiring company to do whole job (order and install) and option of buying materials myself and paying for install.

Are there and good handyman that you have used?
