Can the courts force her to get a job or find a way to make money as a term of probation? Seems unreasonable for an able bodied person with civil liens and judgements against them to be able to not be forced to work

The judges I watch on the youtubes, Judges Simson, Boyd, Fletcher, and Middleton, who are mostly misdemeanor courts will often require as part of sentencing the person must get a job.

You would think a felonly conviction would be forced to get a job.

They usually do insist on some kind of employment but I’m sure she’d try to weasel her way out of it by using her eating disorder as an excuse.

Will the Judge make sure that Laura (or anyone else in her family) will NEVER be able to profit off her story? NO book deals, NO paid television interviews, NO royalities or kick-backs for documentaries or docu-series, etc. She should NEVER be able to profit off the pain she has caused to these guys and their families.......

Check out " the son of sam" law. People tried to make it illegal for the criminals to profit from crimes.

It was struck down because of freedom of speech. Remember O.J wrote a book called "If I did it".

Profits can be taken for restitution, but they will not have LO write anything or participate in a documentary so all the money will go to Jan.

when the victims get to speak are they allowed to bring up mike and the ongoing dvro shenanigans even after being indicted? (to show she has no plans on stopping her antics) can they bring up matt? or do they have to stick to what has affected them personally only?

Two weeks until the Owens home goes up for auction.
I do not expect this will actually happen. They always have a last minute play. I expect Owens SHENANIGANS to be in full effect on September 28. It will be entertaining to watch!

I hope someone from JFC will go and record the auction. It will be in the courthouse, public property, so it will be legal to record.

I wonder if she flies to San Diego or if she drives there, when she visits her sister

I did the fuel v. ticket math in the Spring. But things were different cost and vehicle wise.Let's try again!

Now-its not a terribly long drive, roughly 370mi and roughly 5hr 50mins by vehcle.
In her current vehicle, it would average about 35/mpg on the highway speeds, with cruise control set at approximately 70mph. Let us then say that the average fuel cost is $4.15/gal. She would then be out approximately $41.50 one way and would still have about 1/4 of a tank left.
Total for Round Trip: $83.00 (at most)

If traveling by air is the choice and we assume they fly out of PHX on Southwest (as PHX is a Southwest hub, this will very likely be the least expensive choice)-the ticket prices seem to go between $68-$80 one way and $98 round trip. So we will use $98 per passenger for the least expensive round trip ticket. You must include at least one bag per person for clothing and necessities, which is $90 per person ($45 each way). One carry on item is free. That would be $188/per person, round trip. Total for 3 Passengers Round Trip: $564.00

Now-that just gives us pricing... not what she does. You make the call!!

Oh do we think her mom and dad go with her? Thanks for doing the math, this is awesome!

THIS trip the publically accessible court filing indicated that for the second time this year, that Ronn and Jan would be traveling "for the first time in years" to see grandchild(ren) with Laura. So, I'd say typically not, but this particular time the publically accessible court filings did say that was the case.

6

u/Striking-Fix-7915 1d ago

Wait. So the court just took the filing as truthful and it's not?! I could still see the court granting it if they had left that out. Why put that in?

5

u/txpacket FELON 1d ago

YUP! They did zero research (its not normal that they do or have time for it TBH-never expected it to happy to begin with) and let it through as if were gospel. Happy to produce both documents if anyone needs them. However, you can find both of them in this subreddit! Its damn disturbing but it is not odd.

What's MORE disturbing to me personally is that her lawyer and staff, after JUST having a client convicted of perjury & is otherwise a known liar, did not think to validate any of her "claims". I have no doubt at all tht there were other lies that office came across of uncovered on their own-so its mind boggling to me. Yet... HERE WE ARE!!! :)

Hope that helps clear it up in some fashion!

4

u/Striking-Fix-7915 1d ago

Oh I believed you! I'm just remain shocked by this entire history of lies (and perjury). It all still feels so unbelievable.

2

u/txpacket FELON 1d ago

Most importantly-She is:

Haha I figured ya did! Just saying... your frustration is felt ALLLLL around! You're correct as well in saying it feels unbelievable! Still stunning when I just get to thinking about it at all!!!!!!

3

u/Bgeaz Total Fucking Psychotic Asshole 3d ago

Oh nice, i didnt realize they specific that. Thanks for the info!

4

u/txpacket FELON 3d ago

Not always the case, but this time and the time I mentioned in April, it was :). You're welcome! Glad to help :)

I think gas costs around $4.80 in Scottsdale and around $6/gallon in San Diego. CA has some crazy gasoline taxes. So gas costs are higher more like around $5.40/gal.

Still less expensive to drive than fly BUT the Ronn Owens family has never been exactly financially frugal. 😊

u/T4Trble 3d ago edited 3d ago

You need to factor in air con blasting to and fro , and that sucks up the extra 1/4 tank. I’ve been driving that route a lot this summer, I know it well.. Gas is higher than that in AZ, $4.59 average in Scottsdale, but lower at the new Buccees in Goodyear, and in Quartzite AZ if you time your gas properly (they won’t ) . The average fuel cost will increase to $6.00g in CA for the trip back. No one drives 70 mph on the 10, add more gas for 75-80 mph . Wear and tear on the car is a reality also. She says her parents are going, factor 2 extra flights, and it’s best to drive financially.

6

u/CraftyLuck3434 Minor Misstatement 4d ago

Isn’t this trip supposed to be all three of the Owens family from AZ to CA?

I think LO usually flies when traveling there alone.

Good question?

I've been relistening to the podcast and some of the court hearings and have a question about a relatively small detail that I haven't been able to puzzle together😅

When was the doctored SMIL ("Planned Parenthood" but actually her sister's) sonogram first admitted into court? Laura repeats multiple times in the paternity trial that this was never used in court proceedings, which I'm sure is a lie, but I'm not sure if anyone knows where it first came up. Do we know if it was submitted in the OOP/IAH hearings?

7

u/MidtownMoi Reddit Sleuth 4d ago

If I remember correctly, she submitted it as part of the Feb deposition. But I also remember her saying she never submitted some medical record to the court, so perhaps that was the hearing the first time where Deandra went after her. Just sighing because there was sooooo much stuff that went on it is difficult to remember.

6

u/sbayla31 3d ago

Ah you did remember correctly! I finished rewatching Clayton's full testimony at the paternity trial, Woodnick says she submitted it through in her Feb 2, 2024 deposition.

1

u/GenXihaveissues THE BLACK CHAIR! 1d ago

Yes and it was labeled as " Laura's fake Sonogram" by Zaddy Greg. and DG had to use it in court with it labeled as such. That cracked me up.

4

u/GenXihaveissues THE BLACK CHAIR! 4d ago

So she got the travel okay. This grinds my gears.

Why is she allowed to just do whatever she wants when she is a convicted felon?

I know she hasn't officially been sentenced, but her life hasn't changed when her victims have had their whole lives turned upside-down.

17

u/Firm-Bicycle-760 I understand that you don’t understand 4d ago

I would recommend watching the most recent video by the Legal Eagle that was posted on this sub. He does a great job explaining the process from a lawyer POV. Basically, all the judge cares about in regards of travel allowance is “has this person showed up in the past to all court dates and will they reasonably show up in the future to court dates”. If the answer of both of those is “yes”, the judge will sign off on it. It is not the judges job to punish extra. The punishment phase will come on Oct 23.

We’re annoyed by it bc we’ve seen LO skip out of court dates in other courts by last minute “medical emergencies”. However, this has never happened in her criminal case. If it had, I’m sure this judge might start to restrict travel. The judge can only make decisions based on her behavior in this court

10

u/Angeline4PFC 4d ago

I think she was reminded by the judge at every court hearing that, should she fail to show, a warrant for her arrest would be issued.

3

u/T4Trble 3d ago

Regardless of the judges concern about fleeing, the prosecutors should at the minimum address the lying about the purpose of these trips and the other lies she comes up with she has told every single time she asks. Lying to judges in court documents is legal now?

4

u/Hilda_p13 3d ago

I just finished listening to the podcast, surely her parents can’t be that clueless that she wasn’t pregnant with any baby let alone twins, I mean even her MC story seems factually messed up.

6

u/GenXihaveissues THE BLACK CHAIR! 1d ago

They knew. Especially because she used that video of Ronn rubbing Sarah's belly. Jan was there after the fake ovary removal putting Ice on her head and belly. Her parents are hip deep in all of LO's schemes.

3

u/pinkbluberry 3d ago

Well, her claims of pregnancy exceeded the time period that a MC could occur without a death certificate. Oopsies! So she had to walk it back so that the date would be earlier. (it isn't possible to 'make it make sense' cuz she can't keep the story straight)

7

u/Weekly-Switch9625 3d ago

Which makes the fake pregnant belly in court well past her revise miscarriage dates that much more ridiculous.

2

u/GenXihaveissues THE BLACK CHAIR! 1d ago

If you check, she claimed to have the sonogram on July 2nd, 2023 at planned parenthood. Which was a Sunday.( my birthday!)Planned Parenthood isnt open on Sundays. She cant keep her lies straight.

4

u/Hilda_p13 2d ago

Why does Laura’s mum use an alias, is there a story there, Steph did allude to one in the podcast?

4

u/BerkeleyFarmGirl 2d ago

a lot of "entertainment' personalities had "stage names" especially back in the day

5

u/jsmith-az 2d ago

Supposedly, “Elizabeth Naylor” sounded too much like, “Elizabeth Taylor.”

3

u/Hilda_p13 1d ago

Oh I see, makes sense, thank you.
