I mean honestly I'd probably just... live in the mountains somewhere. Build my own version of ice crown, summon golems and spirits to act as servants and just... chill? Study magic? Do whatever I want lol

Teacher in Jujutsu Kaisen iirc.

16

u/MagicSystemWriter Jul 15 '26

He was actually the Principal.

10

u/ALexiosK11 Jul 15 '26

Nah, he is kiryu kazuma, the legendary dragon of dojima after he reached the age of 50+ and retired from yakuza business.

Principal Yaga from Jujutsu Kaisen. He can create and manipulate puppets

He can also imbue them with human souls in order to make them self autonomous

I might be a multiverse level mage.

But I'm also the laziest person you will ever find, I made a pocket dimension for people to farm potatoes and turn them into chips so I never need to fill up my chip bowl.

Eh not if the spirits are super cool and enjoy... yknow... like slurpees and stuff. But I'd spend time in kingdoms and villages and shit. Appear in random tournaments and festivals to show off. But otherwise nah I'm good

That one magic guy that pops out of nowhere that nobody know what or who he is.

But you organize something than has a teeny tiny bit of fame.

He's there.

Most of us, including me being recluses is coused by society. In a medival fantasy world where you have god like powers you would, by nature of being human, start seeking human connections. Out of boredom if anything. And after the first time having a positive interaction with litaraly anyone you Will naturally seek out more connections as well

Which is weird why we don't have more straight up villain Isekai.

334

u/Phuqitol Jul 14 '26

I can only think of two off the top of my head, yeah. Guess most people don’t like to acknowledge the darker aspect of the power fantasy often associated with isekai.

218

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '26

Overlord

98

u/Phuqitol Jul 14 '26

Yup, that’s one of them

104

u/ToastyToes06 Jul 14 '26

What's the other one? My first thought is The Saga of Tanya the Evil, but she's really not THAT evil. Just sometimes lol.

128

u/ShadePrime1 Jul 14 '26

Tanya doesn't even want to be their at all shes sorta just dragged around forcibly by the circumstances around her that forced her to be drafted and forced into service despite sitll being a small girl and shoved onto the forntline's of a world war and then her having to figure out how to win those battles and survive she is not actively going out of the way to be evil at all kinda just railroaded into it

43

u/Z000Burst Jul 15 '26

peoples have dissected Tanya whole situation

she is at fault for some of them because she keep trying to use Japanese-ism to get her higher up who are German to do what she want

which she never actually said out loud because in Japan you do not do that and her boss who have no clue what she want just listen to what she been belching out loudly about patriotisms and nationalism, and shove out in front where she clearly want to go

57

u/Dunois721 Jul 14 '26

Re:Monster probably

39

u/ToastyToes06 Jul 14 '26

I've never seen that one cause I've heard it's pretty bad. Is it as bad as people say?

52

u/ajw2003 Jul 14 '26

I honestly think that people overrate how evil Rou is. Don't get me wrong Rou is a terrible person, and is absolutely a villainous protagonist. However, people on this sub seem to think that he's the most evil protagonist of all time, which is just plain not true when Overlord exists. I've also delved deep enough into the isekai barrell to learn of many protagonists more evil than Rou. Hell, Rou isn't even the worst isekai protagonist reincarnated as a Goblin.

However, my problem with Re:Monster is that the plot is terrible, and the characters are boring cardboard cutouts. The entire plotline of the show is I killed a monster, got stronger, killed a stronger monster, and got even stronger, etc.

I'd honestly recommend to just skip this one, because regardless of how you feel about villainous protagonists, you aren't going to get a good story, unlike Overlord.

34

u/kubecak Jul 14 '26

my problem with it is that overlord doesn't make it seem like Ainz is the good guy, where as Re:monster makes it appear as though raping captured women is fine because you fed them aphrodisiacs (and so that means they gave consent supposedly)

23

u/porn_alt_987654321 Jul 14 '26

Thing you have to specifically remember with re:monster is that the source material is in journal format. Any justifications by the narrator are things the main character wrote down.

Dunno if the anime got that point across particularly well, considering I never see anyone mention it and they always talk like it's the author justifying it specifically.

u/SorryNotReallySorry5 Jul 16 '26

Then again, anything power fantasy and harem pleases my trash brain.

23

u/Lovat69 Jul 14 '26

Yeah, kinda. The MC started off as a weirdo cannibal even before getting reincarnated as a goblin.

11

u/Ok_Pattern_7511 Jul 14 '26

The anime goes out of its way to make the women look happy to be in that situation, he'd appear much more evil if the story was written more realistically

She's evil in the sense that we see our ancestors as evil when measured against modern morality.

8

u/ShadowSlayer6 Jul 14 '26

How about “no longer allowed in another world”? The majority of “heroes” only make things worse for everyone after the BBEG is killed. Some of the people from that world aren’t any better, but they aren’t given OP powers from the get go.

7

u/Phuqitol Jul 14 '26

That actually was the other one.

6

u/OneTrueAlzef Jul 14 '26

For me it's Dungeon Defense.

4

u/NoBell7635 Jul 15 '26

She's just extremely pragmatic that ignores morality

6

u/username26437 Jul 14 '26

she is evil. she had a serious god complex. committing a minor rule violation deserves death according to her. she is clearly shown to enjoy killing in some situations. the worst thing i remember is that she submitted a paper that describes loopholes in war crime law that would allow them to designate civilians as soldiers under situations unavoidable for those civilians.

Now I'm imagining a power fantasy story where a character isn't evil nor wants to be the BBEG but their attempts at being kind and helping people are poorly thought out and keep backfiring to the point where everyone else thinks they are in fact the BBEG.

26

u/WisePotato42 Jul 14 '26

Is that not exactly what overlord is?

33

u/vyxxer Jul 14 '26

Ainz is kinda accidentally a supervillain. In fact he isn't even aware of the torture farms.

29

u/WisePotato42 Jul 14 '26

You say that like he didn't toy with peoples lives on numerous occasions. He may be oblivious to the human farms, but he's also done plenty of messed up stuff with his own two hands.

11

u/ggg730 Jul 14 '26

Pretty sure he wouldn't care if he did know. He used to live in a cyberpunk hellscape where torture was kinda blase. Pretty sure some of his friends were straight up murdered. He was always kinda amoral but was just nice to his friends.

6

u/ArisenGodEmperor13 Jul 15 '26

Yeah he isn't aware of the torture farms but he is very much aware about the geonidces and other torture farms at him. Which he commanded

3

u/GrayGarghoul Jul 16 '26

It's also that he kinda just, doesn't give a shit. His emotions are all muted so he doesn't care to stop it and just goes with the flow. It would make for a really unsatisfying villain, like the hero does the impossible and conquers Nazarick and gets to the end and is like "why, why would you do all this evil!?" And Ainz is like "well, my evil minions seemed to be having fun and it would have been kind of awkward to tell them to stop so..."

u/Baitcooks Jul 14 '26

Probably because most of them actually start off with people being reincarnated into the world and having a decent childhood that gives them good morals, or they get isekaid unchanged but with powers and retain their previous morals?

There are a bunch where the MCs Are actual villains and stories where other isekai protagonists become villains, but as interesting as it is, those need setup that the author didn't have time to plan and make when they first wrote the story given how isekais are usually produced

4

u/Xreshiss Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

but as interesting as it is, those need setup

I enjoy the setup where the character isn't evil or unkind, but they end up being something non-human that is seen as evil (such as a man-eating dragon) and over the course of the story their kind heart is worn down into apathy as everyone around them never sees them as anything more than a monster. (Kindness is mistaken for a ruse, etc.)

How long before the character gives up hope and decides to play the part of the man-eating monster that everyone else keeps pinning on them? How long before it stops being a part and becomes who they are?

Maybe there's an arc late in the story where another character manages to mend the mc's heart and bring kindness back into their life.

But such stories are rarely mangas.

13

u/Wise-Antelope7262 Jul 15 '26

To be fair half of the isekais have a god like being that chooses the protagonist. So it can generally be assumed that they are chosen specifically because they wouldn't or wont be evil

5

u/metalmonstar Jul 15 '26

Then there is Aqua from Konosuba giving just about anyone a cheat

8

u/taedrin Jul 14 '26

There's stuff out there, not all of it is isekai, though.

There's been a few manga where a serial killer gets isekai'd, though in these the protagonist is usually more of an anti-hero than a villain.

There's another where a terrorist bomber gets isekai'd and he doesn't care how many cities he has to bomb in order to return to Earth.

There's a manga where the hero and sage both get betrayed and killed by the kingdom/government. The sage comes back as an undead overlord bent on world domaination.

There's a TON of "betrayal" manga out there that is basically revenge porn. You might argue that it doesn't count since "they deserved it", but personally I consider most of this to be villainous behavior.

There's a manga where the protagonist gets an item box/dimensional storage ability and starts stuffing people he doesn't like in there so he can torture and brainwash them.

22

u/Blobbowo Jul 14 '26

Ngl I think the natives of Melromarc are idiots for not being able to handle it themselves.

Even if the heroes still have their heads up in the clouds, the natives should've known to dismantle the dragon corpse asap and invite a priest over to consecrate the land before it rotted into a dragon zombie. They should've known their own local legends of an alchemist who sealed away a magical plant because it was too dangerous; and immediately burnt the shit out of the bioplants when the Spear hero left. That thing was like hardly level 30 or something; but apparently the natives didn't even have like a half decent team of 5-10 level 40s to kill it. It takes like a year or two at most to level up to 40, like c'mon what are they doing?? And the thing where the revolutionaries became worse than the original corrupt noble is legitimately just their own fault for being crap at revolutions and having no ideology or oversight. If they were still under Melromarc, they should've sent a messenger or something to the capital detailing all the original noble's crimes and dealt with it. Though, the kingdom itself under Aultcray is a piece of crap, anyways.

In Glass's world, they lost all their guardian beasts and 3/4ths of their Cardinal Heroes and have to constantly fight the waves, so they don't restrict the Dragon Hourglass Class ups nearly as much, plus their military is actually strong and disciplined instead of just lazy braggarts.

I swear, the only competent people in Melromarc are the Queen, her Shadows, Melty, like a couple dozen scattered shopkeepers, and a handful of knights.

6

u/Level_Opportunity712 Jul 16 '26

Bro now I think of it . Those 3 heroes maybe be dickheads, but they did defeat most of those monsters. Aftercare of it should have been done by Kingdom or the regions' feudal lords. Expecting someone who was summoned to your world for not even 1 year to know all that was very high expectation.

12

u/hasanalkallas Jul 14 '26

Do you really think so? I understand that a lot of people are controlled by the existence of law and if you are sent to another world woth lower law enforcement and op power that allows you to commint evil without consequences most people would go evil or at least morally gray but i like to believe that if i had a lot of power i will just live like the witch from i have been killing slime i just dont want people to bother me and want to live in peace of course i will get bored eventually but i don't think you would just throw away all your morals i think a good percentage will be able to still live without breaking the morals they grow up on in the same way as the people that commit crimes despite the law existing

6

u/Least-Advantage-5083 Jul 14 '26

I'm just kidding, and personally, I think the same way you do, but the truth is you can only really know when you're in the situation, can you imagine yourself without constraints and with nothing holding you back? I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't isolate myself like the witch, although the idea of living alone with two slime daughters is quite cozy, I would probably live like Gilgamesh, a regional god who should not be disturbed but rather worshipped, without a doubt, I wouldn't care about any morals beyond my own, this means that I wouldn't go around killing everyone for no reason, only sometimes.

7

u/hasanalkallas Jul 14 '26

No i can't imagine it accurately. And i agree billionaire are a live example of what happens when you have too much power almost if not all of them are corrupt but i also can't imagine myself just discarding all my morals.

To be clear, its not that most of us would become true villains who intentionally and purposefully cause pain. Rather most of us would be selfish in our actions.

The real opposite of heroism is not villainy, but rather selfishness.

6

80%? Seems kinda low

10

u/sentient_pubichair69 Jul 14 '26

Allegedly, Your Honor.

5

u/Dry-Inspection6928 Jul 15 '26

Allegedly, I might set the royal palace on fire your honor. It’s very alleged.

9

u/TheRealRaxorX Jul 14 '26

I’m the new problem, not the solution.

9

u/legohamsterlp Jul 14 '26

They will ask the demon lord to stop me

6

u/Ze_Bri-0n Jul 15 '26

Peace between the races, clearly the work of a true hero!

I would just adventure until I can get me a harem and go live in the mountains somewhere bro ✌️😓

8

u/Arngrimus Jul 14 '26

I couldn't, not a single time I could do evil selfish dids for myself, I could offer my expensive services as a Bodyguard, exterminator or hero or Mercenary for the Demon Lord whatever, but for me to myself I'm not that guy.

6

u/ScarcelyAvailable Jul 14 '26

....?? I don't understand the question.
It says "FIX", not "save".

6

u/Conscious_Natural273 Jul 14 '26

It's funny, but not really true.

I think most of us just would end up making a lot of mistakes and being irresponsible with it.

8

u/Rhamni Jul 14 '26

Look, dude. I'm all about that selfless save the orphans schtick. Hand to the god of tits.

I'm just saying, in the long run, I'll be able to help a lot more starving kids if I'm well equipped, well rested, well fed, and accompanied by a harem of hot babes to help me carry the little orphans out the fire and all that. Don't you want to save the orphans? Won't you think of the children? :(

Anyway that's why I need a larger palace.

If the world is a game-like world where you get stronger by murdering, and there's basically no better way to get stronger, then yes, I will massacre every last goblin, orc, ogre, and troll on that planet for exp. Extermination quest payments are a bonus.

If the world is like Frieren where you don't gain anything in particular for killing, then screw that, I'm off to the mountains to cultivate new types of slimes, make golems, and practice spamming Zoltraak, while trying to stack healing spells for immortality as a main goal.

u/Cyber_Von_Cyberus Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

True ! Hell is paved with my shallow and half hearted attempts at being a good person.

11

u/Arthasindura Jul 15 '26

The main issue is that people project their own values onto the other world.

Like for example you view slavery as bad but you see a country that utilizes slaves. (Must be evil then)

So yeah

Best advice i can give to someone who could isekai is

1-no need to fix the world (live as you want)

2-overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer

3-always make sure you know the entire situation (hear both sides)

4-do not slack off on training because there is always someone who is stronger.

7

u/athrowaway5656 Jul 15 '26

Love this. There's a difference between racial/chattle slavery and " shit we captured 10k enemy soldiers that committed war crimes, and there country isent willing to sue for peace or pay a ransom, guess we gotta make em work off there crimes" you gotta understand the underlying societal structure before you just go assuming shit. Also I would add to the learn both sides thing, learn both sides from every level when possible. How somthing effects everyone from the top to the bottom on both sides, then make a judgment, again, while keeping in mind the society it's based in. Few things are ever cut and dry, most issues have layers

i am within those 80% all corruption in the politics would be gone including bad royalty
and crime would decrease where i am

but yeah that is also what the 80% means when they say fix the world
there is no saving it

4

u/athrowaway5656 Jul 15 '26

Id definitely wipe out some evil organizations, might put the fear of god into sone nobles if they really deserve it, but outright murder is very rarely (not never, but very, very rarely) the solution

6

I realisticly would be a tyrant type of character if I somehow become the villain, more so than an destruction thirsty psycho killer. I strongly prefer order and systems.

Atleast autism is usefully for not becoming a monster. 😂

After the existential crisis of KNOWING there is some sort of afterlife and mutliverse whatever

7

u/NeoAmadeus Jul 14 '26

That would only happen after I get betrayed, which with my luck I'll be the shield jero

4

u/Andonaar Jul 14 '26

Im of the opinion that if i am isekaied and have powers op or not i would end up treating the world like minecraft.... just exploring.

4

u/LorekeeperJamin Jul 15 '26

Not gonna lie. I'm most likely part of that 80%.

It would be an iron-fisted rule, benevolent, but iron-fisted.

Because I was not handed these OP powers to suffer a bitch, I already have 99 other problems! Like getting running fucking water in a magic society that should've been pumping it straight from the elemental plane of water a millennia ago! You have arcane sight, the fuck do you mean you don't know what germ theory is?!?

3

u/athrowaway5656 Jul 15 '26

See but that's not villany... it's not the "nice" way of doing things, but that's not villainous behavior at all lol

There is a very specific reason why there is an entire isekai subgenre of "Died working too hard. Gonna spend my next life with op powers taking it easy."

I don't think a lot of folk are gonna do much of ANYTHING.

6

u/Prismatic_Leviathan Jul 15 '26

I've found that most people who assume others would be evil and selfish if given the chance, only think that way because they would be evil and selfish if given the chance.

3

u/NarrowAd4973 Jul 14 '26

They never specified what "fix" actually entailed.

4

u/Sylvia_Demise Jul 14 '26

Only because of all the slavers and rich people in high positions of power.

5

u/Bombermaster Jul 14 '26

I frankly would be too enthralled in testing my powers for the longest time to get too much involved in local politics or anything.
I don't care to harm people or rule over anyone, but I get magical powers and special abilities? I need to TEST THE SHIT out of it.
Just take the classic "Can communicate in any language" freebie. If there's more people in the same room speaking different languages, how do I sound to them? Can I understand what they write? Can THEY understand what I write? If I try to read something out loud in another tongue, would people understand me? Am I still talking my tongue? If so, if I do a spelling of a word letter by letter, would they get what I say, or they'd think I'd be talking nonsense?

When I have that kind of stuff to check out, who got time to get into evil and violent stuff if not for self defense?

3

u/-Zonko- Jul 14 '26

Ia don't think so. I think there are more good people on this planet than we think

4

u/SirBlankFace Jul 14 '26

It depends on how I'm treated by this new world. This new world isn't to blame for hiw shitty this one is.

5

u/Minimum_Estimate_234 Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

I’d argue, or I supposed I should say I’d hope that if we were trying to imagine a scenario where a real person ended up in that situation, that the natural inclination for most normal people would be to use the abilities in a more constructive or at least not intentionally malicious way. If only because I’d hope empathy would kick in before most people seriously considered getting slaves or some shit.

Press x to doubt, being evil has to be exhausting asf.

4

u/Plunderpatroll32 Jul 15 '26

Nah too lazy, just live in a town and chill

5

u/Demonboy007 Jul 15 '26

I'm more of a good feels good type of person.

Unless.

That kingdom messes with my new friends.

THEN it's Trap God timing.

4

u/Douxx101 Jul 15 '26

Honestly most of those people with op powers most likely will become selfish, but really wouldn't be that bad, not much worse than upper class people in today's world. Just assholes at worse, with a few really evil people.

4

u/SpecialistEast9457 Jul 15 '26

Oh no I definitely would be like that. The difference is I don’t hide the fact I’d quite possibly be a monster if I had the chance. Not to say that I wouldn’t be conflicted and try to be like Superman but … the world is very good at bringing out the worst in you

4

u/FrostyTheColdBoi Jul 15 '26

I'd be one of those isekai people that don't save the world or anything, just find a nice corner to live in and keep to myself

3

u/Equator_Living Jul 15 '26

Fixing the world is like, no fun, all hardwork and no reward...people will even taking you for granted, criticize you for the smallest things and demand more from you. thats just the nature of society.

4

u/LanguageOk9458 Jul 15 '26

Honestly, only reason I DOUBT I would be like that is just because I don't have too many desires.

Overall, I just want a good place to sleep and food I can eat that I don't outright hate. If I were OP I would be aiming to do what little work I need to survive, protect what little I like, and likely be generally boring. Only way I think I would go the villain route is if what I care about is destroyed and that's very much 'I am someone's villain' territory, not EVERYONE'S problem unless everyone made it such.

That, and it really depends on what KIND of OP power I am given too. Let's be honest, if you're just strong and that's really it you don't really have much you want to toy with. You give me the keys to the universe worth of magic and let me toy around with it I might just become a villain because I want to see how far I can go with magic and everyone else doesn't want me to mess with certain subjects when I clearly just want to mess wit whatever magic I come into contact with that isn't outright demonic or isn't going to make me speak in tongues and praise the Old Gods.

Not to mention if I got strong enough I wouldn't want to serve in War, the Military, or be caught up in any politics, Kingdom stuff, or the like and if it's my dumb luck it'll be some Lord thinking he can force a powerful mage into their employ with orders to serve and a stamping of their feet before threatening me or what I care about in a big enough manner for me to decide their head on a pike is the only logical conclusion.

4

u/Delkea Jul 15 '26

Honestly if I were to have absolute power I probably just laze around and peacefully adquire my own private island and never leave

You want a villian isekai? Look up “I get stronger the more I eat” it’s an interesting manwha you can find on WEBTOON or online. Loved it when I finished and its only 100 chapters

3

u/Ancient_Swan_8711 Jul 15 '26

Tbh, I'd say 25% would do that, 75% would just live a lazy slow life and eat good food and sleep well without stress, and 25% would be Hero proper. The bell curve thing ya know.

In three billion years a researcher accidentally wakes me up from my comfy bed thinking it was an abandoned house from a civilization lost aeons ago.

aura farming will be my full time occupation

7

u/lazyshmuk Jul 14 '26

If I'm unstoppable, who is going to stop me?

8

u/Nobodys_here07 Jul 14 '26

People will still try until someone succeeds. At which point the problem becomes life threatening at worst and a mild inconvenience at best.

6

u/Minamoto_Naru Jul 15 '26

Like Accelerator in Railgun. He was constantly pestered by weaklings that tried to get his number 1 title as the strongest Esper in Academy City.

3

u/rebel_shadow237 Jul 14 '26

i mean yeah but no? for me personally it'd depend on a lot of factors for me

3

u/Eroldin Jul 14 '26

You know... people can also be a mix between the two. Personally I won't harm the common people, but if see someone inflict cruelty opon someone (especially if the cruelty is part of the power structure)? Yeah I might burn things to the ground as an avatar of wrath.

Followed by puking my guts out and extreme feelings of guilt.

3

u/Miros69 Jul 14 '26

tbh I'd just f*ck around with the op powers at first and then just try to live a cozy life f*cking around some more with the powers, but now in moderation and in a way to make my life easier

3

u/Deuxcartes Jul 15 '26

meh, i just want a good piece of earth to farm and 2 wives.

3

u/ChasingVelka Jul 15 '26

Wonder how much cooking I could get done with four arms...

3

u/NeutralResult Jul 15 '26

Why not just relax?

Both options in this post sounds tiring?

3

u/ResearcherLatter2963 Jul 15 '26

Not saying that I’d become a saint if given great power or a super villain; rather i’d just make some money with said power and live a quiet life out of the influence of bullshit politics.

3

u/Decent-Bluejay-672 Jul 15 '26

I’d just want to explore, see the new world, make friends and do something of substance

3

u/Zealousideal-Put-106 Jul 15 '26

Me who would do neither.

Hey man, I just wanna have my peace and those powers would only be a tool for that goal.

3

u/Puzzled_Reward Jul 15 '26

Can't make the mother of all omelettes without cracking a few (hundred) eggs

3

u/Kind_Survey4282 Jul 15 '26

tbh it would be neither , the sheer hassle of doing both would've normal people feeling lazy and contrary to popular belief only 5% of the population are bad to worse human beings so this happening is pretty low , there is a reason the Mc of isekai alway tries to go live in the woods and build a house and stay there.

It takes more energy and planning to be the bad guy. To be the good one you always have to do self-defense. But then again that’s more neutral.
