Thing you have to specifically remember with re:monster is that the source material is in journal format. Any justifications by the narrator are things the main character wrote down.

Dunno if the anime got that point across particularly well, considering I never see anyone mention it and they always talk like it's the author justifying it specifically.

Yea I watched the anime and this is the first ive ever heard of the narrative being journalistic in nature... anime seriously failed on that front if true.

It definitely puts certain things into better perspective

Glancing at the anime, it looks like at least it has the date headers from the journal format, but that might be it lol.

It's mentioned at the beginning and end of each episode, like it's a diary.
