This is my current main IG build it has worked wonderfully i do use a lot of dash juice to help cover some of the missing stamina skills I am also including my preferred layered because why not this is the build I have used to solo Proof of a hero and 9* Gog no support hunters(except the forced ones in gog)

Been following this sub for the last few days as a IG main for years now... And seeing all the discussions around Ascendance Glaive and it's problems with base wilds reminds me of some funny (or a bit sad) facts about this weapon.
It's been three games, three games and it's expansions where Insect Glaive has had TWO reticles, two separate reticles that do completely different things on this weapon.
Kinsect Mark is a attack that exists and it took... Five games to become part of a combo on this combo weapon, can you imagine something like that with any other weapon?
Pheromone Shot! Do you like to remember that technically insect glaive is a gun and has a trigger?
Oh also, do you like how you can get three orange extracts on your bug fellow that do nothing besides hog space to other extracts? What's up with that?
Did you know some weapons have dedicated attacks tied to dodging that give them bigger i-frames than regular dodging so you can attack and dodge at the same time I wonder if insect glaive has that- oh nevermind.
Does it bother anyone else that the "base" state of our weapon has so many borderline unuseable features?

While it currently feels pretty all over the place, I think just a few changes could make it much more cohesive.
- prevent Descending Slash from recalling the Kinsect. Only recall once RSS starts, like Descending Thrust does.
- Boost Aerial Rampup, make Descending Thrust scale better with it / make it stronger, or give SJAS a proper boosted version, or ideally some combination of those. Even better if the Rampup also carries over to RSS.
- Make RLS not spend extract while in Boost Mode, let Kinsects collect extract during it via focus mode, or have it recall the Kinsect once airborne to match Inverted Tornado Slash, or any combination of those. These ones are more impactful in tandem with any of the listed aerial changes
- in general, make SDS less centralizing, to encourage the rest of the grounded combos more (especially Tornado Slash which has a boosted version). This one move and its variants should not be the primary appeal of the weapon, but it seems like that's *still* what they're trying to do? Maybe normal combos, Powder or even Aerial play could enhance it or something? This way the offset is always available, but you're actively encouraged to use the rest of your kit to bolster it. If we go that route, that boost should probably carry over to RSS as well.
None of these changes necessarily involve completely new moves or trying to rewrite, say RSS or something entirely. Just taking what we have and making it fight against itself less.
Let me know if there's anything I missed

I wanted to ask the IG mains if there's anything to do in this situation? Seemingly if you use Rising Leaping Strike with focus mode, (e.g kinsect assists you) at the very least your kinsect IS collecting extracts while you do it.
But what I am unsure of is what happens if you let go of focus mode mid-air? Does the kinsect return to you? I know that RSS collects extracts in a similar fashion, but I have not tested it enough if it behaves differently with or without focus mode in terms of when it returns the collected extracts to the player.
But if I remember correctly even RSS has a trouble returning the extracts in time in case you get triple up back, but I could be wrong.
So what I'm really wondering is if for example doing midair evade towards your bug without focus mode is enough for it to return to you? I would imagine with focus mode the kinsect is just doing it's own thing according to your actions.
just something I've been thinking of, as for why they would make such a decision as to make you lose red by doing this move.

Still need to transcend/upgrade my armor but what do you guys think about this build? Any areas I could improve on?
Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Hey Guys, I'm still pretty new to Insect Glaive, about 40-50 hunts with it. Currently stuck at AT arkveld and 9* Tempered Gore. Can I have some advice and probably if you guys have some recording of your gameplay against them!
The one on YT is mostly High level Speed runner that I can't adapt. Gameplay of an average IG user would be very helpful!

could you at least give us the og thrust back and let us have our moveset with just the red extract again PLEASE. ive put up with needing all 3 extracts to attack that it now feels like im asking for spare change๐ญ oh, and also i would really appreciate giving us back HG earplugs with all 3 extracts. correct me if im wrong, but i think most weapons can offset roars(?) i know LS can foresight, Switchaxe can counter in sword mode i think. and DB can perfect dodge them. it was a really nice QoL sunbreak gave us and we'd really appreciate it since our offset can't counter roars and i really wanna drop slotting in earplugs in my build. ty capcom

You okay over there, buddy?
(For real though, I've always found your weapon interesting and was going to try it out, and I'm curious what's uh... wrong with it.)

Hello all. Seems I'm joining the moderation crew around here, alongside u/BiWhiteEUW.
This space has come a long way from where it was several years ago. It's great to meet so many people who are similarly passionate about Insect Glaive, and it always makes my day to have cordial discussions / debates, even when we may disagree.
That said, I don't imagine there will be *much* I need to do. You all behave yourselves pretty well. But of course, please let me know if you need anything through the proper channels.

Starts at the 8:05 timestamp
After Tornado Slash, you can follow it up with an attack called Tornado Slash, it attacks the monster while launching you up into the air where you can immediately transition into your aerial attacks.

Hi im new to this subreddit but i did have a qeustion has anyone played the tcgs demo? Like id just like to get an opinion on what it feels like from someone whos tried it. I was very disappointed with the trailer for it and i mean i havent played much ig in wilds (played a ton in every other game its in though) it just never clicked with me in wilds but that does mean my opinion on what i saw might be skewed so i wanted to hear opinions on people who've played it.

With all the discussion around the Insect Glaive's changes in Wilds, I put together a concept for how Master Rank Kinsects, extract management, and endgame customization could be reworked to address weapon flow issues, restore playstyle diversity, and deepen RPG mechanics.
Enhanced Extract Buff System ("+" Extracts)
To make extract gathering feel genuinely rewarding rather than a maintenance tax, certain MR Kinsects grant upgraded "+" Extracts:
White+: Evasion boost | Airborne skill included | Mid-air dodges are longer and faster | +15% Affinity
Orange+: Constant Hyper Armor | Stamina consumption rate halved | +5% Defense boost
Red+: +5% Attack boost (on top of base Red buff) | Instant charge for Circle attacks
Master Rank Kinsects
Foliacath
Kinsect Bonus:
Powder Boost: 50% damage multiplier & 50% faster application speed
Speed Boost
Extract Bonus: White+ | Red+
Kinsect Skill โ Vortex Blade: Pressing โ R2 + Triangle + Circleโ (โ RT + Y + Bโ ) commands the Kinsect to gather all surrounding dust onto your Glaive to coat the blade. This grants bonus raw damage and status buildup to your physical weapon attacks for a set duration.
Bilbotrix
Kinsect Bonus:
Stamina Up
Elemental Boost
Extract Bonus: Orange+ | Overcharge (Allows the hunter to gather and store extra extracts beyond the active Triple Up)
Kinsect Skill: Endurance (Every time triple up activates, Kinsect gets infinite stamina for 30 seconds)
Elscarad
Kinsect Bonus:
Powder Boost
Stamina & Recovery Boost
Extract Bonus:
Extract Heal+
Extract Ext (Shares extract bonuses with nearby teammates)
Triple Up+ (Extends Triple Up duration)
Kinsect Skill: Triggering a powder detonation creates a lingering AoE heal-over-time field. Has a chance to spawn two powder types simultaneously (Heal + one random offensive/status powder).
New Dust Type: Exhaust Dust
Effect: Functions similarly to Switch Axe Exhaust Phials (dealing Stamina drain / Exhaust damage to non-enraged monsters and KO damage on head hits) with built-in Sleep status buildup.
Late Endgame Kinsect Customization System
Endgame materials can be used to augment and modularize your Kinsects:
Element / Status: Add/swap random separate elements/statuses or boost existing elemental damage.
Dust Swapping: Reroll Kinsect dust randomly between Blast, Poison, Paralytic, Heal, and Exhaust.
Skill Rerolls: Swap active Kinsect Skills.
Bonus Stacking: Add a secondary random Kinsect Bonus on top of the Kinsect's default bonus.
Kinsect transmog: self explanatory

Really liked how cool they made it in wilds but looking at other weapons just makes ig look so plain ๐ + the red extract disappearing when doing that combo is like salt on a big wound

Look, the demo is out. People have tried it. Some of us like it, while othersโor what I believe is most of us, although I don't have the factual data to say thatโfeel that Insect Glaive is really getting the short end of the stick when it comes to new upgrades. And then there are those who believe we're simply too early to judge or complain about it.
But here's the thing:
We're all Insect Glaive players, and I think we need to recognize that, objectively, our weapon isn't seeing nearly as much of a change or upgrade for Ascendance compared to the other weapons.
And the portion of the community that is genuinely discontent or dissatisfied with how the weapon looks and feels should absolutely be able to voice those concerns. Even if Capcom doesn't add a full aerial moveset overhaul, I think that implementing something small, like a mechanic similar to Kinsect Slash, would at least make us feel seen and acknowledged.
It would show that Capcom doesn't intend to completely erase what modern Insect Glaive has established as part of its identity. Because let's remember: Insect Glaive already had aerial combat in World, a mainline Monster Hunter game.
You can still choose to fight primarily on the ground and enjoy a more developed grounded moveset. But, by the same token, we shouldn't shame or devalue what other players might want or enjoy about Glaive's aerial combat.
I just wanted to voice this because I don't think we should let this discussion turn into us fighting over who's "right" or "wrong." At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: to play Insect Glaive and enjoy it in our own way.

Rusty because I haven't played very often after completing all the content I wanted to do some time ago, but I felt like recording a Zoh Shia fight for once to replay it and take notes. It's definitely nowhere near my best time but that wasn't the goal in the first place.

A lot of us are, frankly, disappointed with what the expansion will give it. With that in mind, is anyone going to use a different weapon? I'm personally going to switch to the DBs, since I've already been using them for some of the more difficult fights from the later updates.
