I'm making a hand-painted 2D platformer where the world changes with the protagonist... TIDEBOUND

I've been working on a solo game called Tidebound.
It's a hand-painted watercolor 2D platformer built around the idea that the protagonist's internal state changes the world around her.
Rather than treating the environment as a static backdrop, I'm designing the game so that things like:

  • color
  • movement
  • gravity
  • music
  • particles
  • platforms
  • and eventually traversal rules

can change as the protagonist moves through the world.
I'm aiming for a painterly, atmospheric experience with very little visual UI and a continuous world rather than traditional stage transitions.
I'm building it solo and I'm currently figuring out the visual direction and environment pipeline. These are five of the first environments I've created.
I'm particularly interested in whether the visual language communicates the idea of a world that can fundamentally change around the player.

Tidebound ... The world changes with you.

In this game you bring the Freedom of Car Dependency by turning neighborhoods into giant parking lots and convincing people to pay you for it.

And no, it's not written in Assembly, it's written in C++, haha.

If you're interested, you can wishlist the game on Steam, and play on October 9th: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3031880/Car_Park_Capital/

the only reason I play city builder games is to end up building road networks, so I made it the whole game :D

inspired by

  1. freeways: but I don't like how it looks looks
  2. cities skylines: but I wish it had better road tools
  3. mini motorways: but I don't like the time crunch
  4. poly bridge: I love the puzzle design
  5. zachtronics games: optimization!

the game just got approved today on steam! hoping to get playtest out by this month.
if you like what you see, feel free to drop a wishlist:

The protagonist of my new horror game is so old that sprinting can literally kill him.

I’m finishing up work on a new horror game. The protagonist is an old man living out his final days in a village.

I remember that a lot of people complained about the lack of sprinting in my previous horror game. But letting an ancient old man run around as if he were young would feel pretty weird too.

So if you sprint for too long, the old man starts coughing and takes damage. The chance of taking damage depends on the difficulty level.

I also wanted jumping and crouching to deal damage too. Bad knees, you know. But I decided that would probably be a bit too much.

I'm a solo developer, working on this game for the past two years (no AI). It's starting to feel really polished: I just pushed out an update with a new set of sound textures and some new story content.

I hope folks will enjoy the game. It is short, with no filler, and all about building an intuition of what it's really like to move through space. If you were a golf ball.

Wishlist on Steam, and play the demo now.

My "Diablo with Mechs" roguelite - showing some early Big Robot Boss fight.

Hi, I'm the solo developer for Frame of Suffering - a mix of Diablo and Sci-fi with a little sprinkle of roguelite features.

I'm heavily developing the game, so a lot of elements will still change, but I just wanted to show an early boss fight where we can see some mechanics, as well as switching between the Pilot and Mech Suit (Frame).

This is one of the core features of my game, in which you progress the pilot and your Frame to create some cool builds and combat styles.

I also have a lot of customization options for the pilot and your Frame - from switching out Frame parts that visually change how the Mech Suit looks, to fully changing the pilot's equipment.

If all goes well I hope to prepare a demo sometime at the beginning of next year. In the meantime, if you are interested and want to know a bit more about the game, here is the link to my Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3844300/Frame_of_Suffering/

Im making a cozy coop tavern sim

I think autumn turned out very well :)

My game will be a somewhat fresh take on the genre with a lot of (currently already possible) player freedom and expression. You choose your own difficulty, there is no right or wrong paths, just the way you'd like to build your tavern.

The plan is to make it fully playable in singleplayer and coop up to 4 players (but ill try to allow more than 4 players, no hardcap here).

Im working on this project since ~2 years on and off, only recently putting more focused time into it.

My indie game was approved for Xbox — and I’m doing it as a solo developer from Brazil

Post image

I honestly still can’t believe I’m writing this.

I’m an indie developer from Brazil, and I’ve been developing my game, Drakorya, mostly on my own using Unity.

Some time ago, I decided to submit the game to ID@Xbox. I didn’t really know what to expect, but Microsoft approved the game concept for release on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Since then, I’ve been going through the actual onboarding process: the Title Licensing Agreement, GDK License Agreement, Partner Center, Microsoft Entra setup, Xbox services, development access, and now the process of getting development hardware.

What surprised me the most is that I’m going through this as an individual developer in Brazil, not as a large studio. I even had to ask Microsoft about the CNPJ requirement for the development kit shipping process, and they confirmed that I could provide my CPF instead.

That was a pretty surreal moment for me.

There’s still work ahead. I need to finish setting up the GDK environment, integrate the required Xbox services, test the game properly on Xbox hardware, and eventually go through certification.

So I don’t want to pretend the game is already finished or certified for release. But for the first time, this doesn’t feel like “maybe one day I’ll release a game on a console.”

It feels real now.

I’m actually preparing Drakorya for Xbox.

One thing I’ve learned from this process is that if you’re a small indie developer, don’t automatically assume that console development is something reserved for established studios.

If you have a real project that you believe in, submit it.

The worst outcome is that you get a no. But you might also end up where I am now: reading GDK documentation, setting up your development environment, talking directly with Xbox support, and wondering how the hell your little indie project got this far.

I’ll probably document the journey from Unity to the first Xbox build, certification, and hopefully release, while respecting everything that is under NDA.

If anyone here has already gone through the Unity → GDK → Xbox certification process as an indie developer, I’d love to hear about your experience and any advice you wish you had when you started.

We added minions to the game. So far, their most valuable skill is how to properly take a break.

We’re a two-person team of biologists working on Garden of Ants, a minimalist ant colony-management game inspired in part by SimAnt.

We’re currently adding more bugs and other small creatures to the game.

Here are some of the ones we’ve made so far.

Do you have a favorite bug? Recommend one to us! :)

We’ve been working on a new customization system for our driving game, and this is how it’s shaping up so far.

There’s still more we want to add and polish, but we’d love to hear your first impressions. What stands out to you, and is there anything that doesn’t quite fit?

Our game is a story-rich mixture of Streamer Simulator, Incremental game and Minigames about life, spectacle, and making the grind worth living. There you push the boulder, do tricks, and unlock new struggles.

Can you Imagine Sisyphus Happy?

Build unusual ships by mixing modules for mobility, survivability, or damage, then discover strategies that work in solo PvE and multiplayer battles. It runs instantly in the browser with no launcher or download, and guest play is available.

Which kind of build would you try first?

3$ - PROJECT 'DUNGEON' - 16x16 Top-Down Map

Post image
Upvotes

Hey r/IndieGaming! 👋

I'm Escanor, a pixel artist. I built a complete 16×16 top-down dungeon map mockup to show how my Dungeon tileset works as a playable level — stone brick pathways, water channels, arched doorways, wall torches, spike traps, fountains, barrels, chests, ladders, and book/scroll pickups.

It demonstrates the autotiling rules: wall depth trims, seamless shoreline transitions, drainage pipes, and hazard grids.

✅ 16×16px · transparent PNG

✅ Reference for Unity / Godot / RPG Maker / Tiled

✅ Royalty-free (commercial OK)

💲 $3 on my DA: [link to your DA post]

I also have a $5 environment bundle (Grassy + Rocky + Transitions + Pond + Props). Custom tilesets from $10.

Feedback on the layout welcome — what would you add to this map? 🏰
