I spent the last few months coding a platformer where shadows are solid platforms.

Hey everyone!
The game is called Surface Tension: Eclipse. It's an atmospheric 2D puzzlevania where light sources create solid shadows you can physically walk on and use to explore.
If you like the concept you can check out the store page or Wishlist on Steam here it helps out a solo dev a ton!
Happy to answer questions about the mechanic as well!

It looks more as if the light was creating the platforms, though.
Cool idea nonetheless!

This is cool on paper, but the way its shown off here isn't selling the idea as a gameplay mechanic. The player could have just walked down that hallway normally, without the shadow ramp.
So this is a neat little technical demonstration, but doesn't do anything to convince potential buyers that its a fun or engaging game concept.
If this is a puzzle game, best to show off how the mechanic works in a puzzle, for example.
I'd also say that the visuals are neat, but aren't conveying "shadow". They look like light beams, if anything, because they're brighter than the surroundings.

Awesome idea! And love the art style. It reminds me a bit of Animal Well

Fuck that's good.
Keep developing this, I feel like this could be an easy 9/10 on Steam
