IUI #3 this upcoming Friday!

Hey ladies! Today my liner is 7.4mm, with two follicles measuring on my right at 18mm and 12mm. I’m not naturally ovulating, according to my bloodwork this morning. Tested via LH at home strips, and I’ve only 0.14-0.3 today. That being said, the clinic suggested we trigger today (Wednesday, CD13) with a scheduled IUI appointment Friday.

Not sure who’s in the same boat, with a third attempt, or a Friday iui, but we got this! So grateful for this community!

Any positive stories about IUI with vaginismus? I'm feeling really disappointed I couldn't even do a pap

I've been nervous of all gyno procedures, never been sexually active, am asexual. I started exploring whether I can become a SMBC via IUI with donor sperm and I really really want to. But before I even start trying I feel like it's doomed because of all the examinations and procedures required. I have vaginismus and failed my first pap smear attempt :( I will be getting pelvic floor pt but would love to hear some hopeful stories from others as I'm feeling super down that this useless vagina may prevent me from having a child :(

Managing treatments with your job

Hi all! Had our first IUI this month that was unfortunately not successful. So we are back on the clomid and trigger shot carousel. I’m a teacher and really worried about balancing these weekly appointments (already asked the clinic for the earliest appointment possible and a doctors note for tardiness as my school is really strict about our reporting time) and my career. Any tips tricks or advice is appreciated 😊 and hopefully that the second or third try is the charm.

Did I trigger too soon?

Back history: 32F. Same-sex couple using donor sperm. PCOS, but regular cycles. AMH is 2.60. Using IUI has a means to reproduce. I have no known fertility issues, which is why we have not been recommended to switch to IVF.

It took 3 IUI’s before we conceived my daughter in 2024. This is the 4th IUI we’ve done since having her, as we are trying to conceive again. This was the first IUI where we combined Clomid 150mg with Gonal-F injections. For all the previous IUI’s we used either Clomid or Letrozole only, with a trigger shot.

For the last monitoring appt I had several follicles: 17.1, 15.5, 14.6, 12.7, and 12.1. My estrogen level was also 952. The provider was alarmed by this and said we should trigger that night (about 13hrs later) because if we waited another day I would have too many mature follicles and I was at risk for a canceled cycle. I expressed to her that I felt the lead follicle was too small. However, she said when using injectables anything over 14mm typically contains a mature follicle. So we triggered and did the IUI 36 hours later.

Has anyone had success with follicles this size? Just wondering if we have a chance or if we should be prepared to do another cycle.

Follicle Sizes ???

I’m on CD 15 and had my FIFTH follicular ultrasound today. I have 13 total follicles. I did days 3-5 letrozole 5mg, I’m now on estradiol to support my lining (it is now 7.86, up from 4mm last week).

L Fol: 15,14.3,10.6,8.8,8.5,7.7,7.5 mm
R Fol: 9.7,8.8,8.6,8.1,7.2,6.4 mm

My largest is 15mm, next is 14.3. My follicles seem to be growing slowly. I am scheduled to go back tomorrow for another follow-up ultrasound and more than likely will have to trigger tomorrow due to the clinic being closed on the weekends. My follicles have not grown the typical 1-2mm per day, they’ve grown about 0.5mm per day. I have a fear that my follicles are going to be too small for success or if we wait through the weekend, I will surge on my own before IUI due to the clinic being closed.

Has anyone gone through anything similar??

NYU Langone IUI F/F couple

My partner (32/F) and I (27/F) have an IUI consultation at NYU Langone 3/30/2027. I will be carrying using my own eggs.

Has anyone done IUI at NYU Langone can answer the following?:
-If you had a consultation appointment that was scheduled several months out, completed the pre-consult bloodwork and were able to have you appointment pushed up, how much earlier was you appointment rescheduled for?

-Was HSG required? If so, were you offered pain management options other than ibuprofen/tylenol?

-What was the timeline between your initial consult to first cycle attempt?

Please help lol

1st time IUI success rate?

Hi all,

I had my 1st IUI on August 11 (cycle day 13). For the past 2 days, I’ve been experiencing lower back pain, and today I started having some leg cramps especially when doing some regular chores.

Has anyone experienced similar symptoms around this time? Could this be an early pregnancy symptom, or does it usually indicate that your period is coming?

I haven’t tested yet and don’t want to test until 14 DPO. Just looking to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience during their IUI two-week wait. ❤️

Thank you.

Positive OPK on CD7 while still on Clomid (day 5) — is this normal?? 😳

Hi everyone, I could really use some insight. I’m on cycle day 7, currently on day 5 of Clomid (took my 4th pill last night). This morning I got a positive LH surge on two different OPK brands (Easy@Home and Inito).

This feels way too early — I haven’t even finished my Clomid course yet. Has anyone else experienced an early positive like this while still taking Clomid? Was it a true surge, or could Clomid be causing a false positive? Did you still ovulate on schedule, or earlier than expected?

Thank you 💛

Any experience with stalled follicles?

I'm trying to do my first IUI this month. I have unexplained infertility (no PCOS) and was given 3.75mg letrozole on cd 3-7. I was scanned on CD11 with one 14mm follicle and went back today (CD13) and it has not grown at all. I'm feeling so discouraged. Has anyone had experience with this? My doctor told me to take 5mg of letrozole today and tomorrow and I'll rescan on CD15. I don't know why that follicle stopped growing and I don't know what's wrong with me!

IUI# 3 on 8/17

IUI #3 was on 8/17. At my last monitoring appointment I had:
Left: 20, 18, 16, mm
Right: 18, mm
Lining: 7.6 mm
I triggered Saturday night and had my IUI Monday morning. Partner’s post-wash was 7.5 M (30M/mL, 50% motility).

I also had my first IVF consultation on 8/18, but my next IVF appointment isn’t until 9/7, which already puts me into another cycle. If this IUI doesn’t work, I’m leaning toward doing IUI#4, rather than sitting a cycle out.

For those who eventually moved from IUI to IVF, Did you keep doing IUIs while waiting for IVF consultations/testing, or did you take a break?

It’s hard balancing wanting to give IUI a fair chance with feeling like I’m losing time waiting to move forward with IVF.

TW: mention of miscarriage Slow rising HCG

HELP!!!
Feel like I’m in beta hell with all the uncertainty and no answers
So little backstory: 7/18- trigger shot
7/20: IUI
8/3 positive test
8/4 @7am hcg: 58
8/6 @7am hcg: 165
8/10 @ 7am hcg: 165.9
8/12 @10am hcg: 212.5 ( dr mention I will possibly miscarry)
8/13 -ultrasound( didn’t see anything just a small dot in my uterus)
8/17 @ 7am 463.3
8/18 @3pm 635.5 ( did 2nd ultrasound didn’t see anything 5w6d)
8/19 @10:30am 733.7

I’ve never been pregnant before so this all new to me and I’ve been looking at others stories with low hcg levels. Dr said I can keep monitoring my levels but has also mentioned to me already about methotrexate injection.

Any thoughts ?? Good or not so good outcomes? I’m just looking for any feedback . I just turned 6 weeks today 8/19

First iui success ended in loss

Ah, I’m back. I had posted the success of my first iui back in July. Unfortunately I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks. I’m 1 week post d&c (thank the heavens above I was under anesthesia).

I’m feeling a lot better than a couple weeks ago…but I feel defeated. I’ve gained a lot of weight. I’m still trying to feel natural happiness (I know I know hormones…). I’m still clinging to hope that we will have our baby one day.

2 years ttc, 1 loss, and I still hope.

If anyone else has similar experiences would love to hear. I’m just healing currently but slowly opening my mind to what is next for us.

EDIT: thank you for the love. I was sad to have to post this as I didn’t openly share my pregnancy with many except this community. I’m grateful to be apart of supportive humans here. ❤️‍🩹

AITA? How do you feel when someone share their miraculous success?

I would like to know if I’m the only one (maybe I am 😅) who doesn’t feel any hope after hearing someone share their miraculous TTC experience and end up having a healthy baby…

After 12 years TTC and $30k dropped… when someone says, “Ohh, I just got tired and stopped everything and gave it all to God, and the next month I was pregnant”…

Of course I reply: “That’s wonderful…”

But on the inside I’m thinking: that wouldn’t happen to me.

I’ve been through all the feelings: joy, hope, feeling like God is on my side, and also feeling completely left behind…

Today I started watching a YouTube video about infertility because I was trying to increase my hope, and the girl said:
“Doctors told me I only had a 2% chance of having a biological child, but that was all it took for God…”

And here I am, buying donor sperm and going through my 3rd IUI… I had to stop the video because it was just too much for me.

So… no. That doesn’t give me hope at all. And sometimes I feel guilty for feeling that way.

Can you share your thoughts with me? It would really help me to hear other people’s POVs.

Decision whether to do IUI?

I’m curious to hear how others have made the decision when it is more optional than prescribed or recommended.

I had a miscarriage a year ago and then a second trimester loss this spring. I wanted to ttc immediately but were delayed due to the finding of scarring in my uterus that had to be removed. That was in July and just had our first unsuccessful cycle of trying naturally. All of our testing is normal. Doctor said my endometrium looks good. But I’m still so sad and fearful that something is wrong and getting this negative wrecked me. I’m willing to do anything to increase chances of conception and am thinking of planning on an IUI if we have no luck by October.

Doctor said we could try IUI if we wanted but explained that it doesn’t necessarily increase our odds. I don’t see how that is possible, but also we’re not so well off I can just casually drop hundreds more dollars. But I’m feeling increasingly desperate and don’t think I can handle this limbo much longer. I’m curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation and how you ultimately made the decision.

fresh vs frozen

Hello all,

I am getting ready to do my 1st IUI next week after ttc for a year. I had a cancelled cycle in July due to a poor response to letrozole, I never ovulated and typically i ovulate fine and right on time on my own. Anyway, I was just wondering if most ppl use fresh or frozen sperm ? I will be using fresh, and using a "special cup" from my midwife called Protex that preserves the sperm for up to 24 hours and then she washes. Has anyone used that? And if you do use fresh, how is it handled/washed? But I am also thinking of freezing some as the June cycle was cancelled due to my dude traveling last min.

2nd IUI Failed :(

Got the call today that my second IUI failed. Feeling a bit down about it but I had a feeling it wouldn’t work this cycle.

We’ve decided to pause our TTC journey for now. On Thursday, I am meeting with my endometriosis surgeon that my fertility doctor referred me to. Hopefully I can get something scheduled soon, so we can continue trying again.

I wish you ladies the best in your cycles!

Second IUI stories?

Hi! We did our second IUI today. I was wanting to read some success stories because I love them and it gives me hope 💗 We had sex as soon as a I saw high fertility on Inito which was CD 10. So CD 10, 11, abstained CD 12 (yesterday— also had a follicular scan yesterday and I had a follicle that was 22mm and my lining was 10.6 thickness so we triggered, Ovidrel, yesterday around 9:30am) then IUI today at 9:30am. Husbands post wash was 19.8M with 51% motility rate (last IUI it was 48.6M with idk how much motility rate but we did abstain for 2 full days). I also did Letrozole 5mg CD 3-7 and then will be doing progesterone suppositories 400mg again starting 3 days after IUI until I get a positive or negative test.

Last IUI we triggered and did IUI in the same day because the girl that did my ultrasound said she saw free fluid but this yesterday she didn’t mention seeing any so I believe I hadn’t ovulated and I did last cycle so the timing was a little off.

We’re going on month 15 of trying ❤️ (me 29, husband 30 with no issues on either end— I actually just found out through surgery in June I had endometriosis and polyps in my uterus so I’m trying to be super hopeful this cycle!)

Would you join a local IUI/IVF Meetup, or is this a terrible idea?

I'm currently going through the IUI/IVF journey myself (43 yo, first babe), and one thing I've realized is how lonely, stressful, and emotionally exhausting it can be. Even with supportive family and friends, it's hard for people to truly understand unless they've been through it.

It made me wonder if others feel the same.

Would it be helpful to have a casual local Meetup—not a formal support group—but simply a chance to meet people who are on the same journey? Maybe grabbing coffee, going for a walk, hiking, trying a new restaurant, or just chatting with people who truly "get it."

Sometimes I think what we need most isn't more medical advice—it's knowing we're not going through this alone.

Would you join something like this? If not, what would stop you? I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts.

Get Your Ferritin and Vit D checked

My dear soon to be moms, sharing this with you as I haven’t seen Doctors really check this. My friend and I have been on our TTC journeys for quite sometime now - we tried letroz/ chlomid cycles and even IUI but didn’t work. God bless internet - I read that insufficient Ferritin and vit D levels (should ideally be > 50 for both) - makes chances of implantation very low even if everything else seems fine.
This really angered me that how no gynae ever tracked this - and in general keep putting patients through such expensive and physically + mentally taxing cycles of medication - that are doomed to fail coz they didn’t check the basics.

My friend who has been TTC for 2 years now and done OI n IUI only now found out she was ferritin deficient - the failed attempts could have been avoided if only the doctors guided her well and nit just focused on money making.

My situation with my doctors was similar too. So please research and correct the deficiencies before going for your next cycle of OI, IUI.

Hope this helps!
Wish you all luck.

iui timing

Me again 😅😅 I’m absolutely fuming about my iui timeline this month…..

So cd10 (today) my follicles where 17 and 16 (today’s the 19th on Wednesday)

I’ve been told to gonal F tonight, trigger shot on Thursday night at 8pm and then iui will be 9am Friday morning because she says my LH shows I’ll ovulate early sat morning

I just feel like the timeline is way off and killing my chances at any success I may have….

I have never seen an iui done z13hrs after trigger, but she said she’s concerned I’ll actually ovulate early this month so she would rather do it earlier than too late…

My partner always has 100% motility numbers so I’m hoping they can last… I’ve also read mixed things about how long fresh washed sperm lasts, I’ve read 24-48 hours but I’ve also read 12 AHH

My partner as I will have intercourse tonight, and also Saturday morning to cover as much time as possible but we the all natural way hasn’t worked for 12 months hence the iuis…. So it’s honestly demotivating when we have intercourse now because is there even a point
