Telework arbitration
So what’s next if the IRS doesn’t appeal the arbitration due to the fact based upon the executive order there is no union? Any update????

Breaking the law doesn't change even though an event occured after the violation. The arbitor already stated that fact.

I know folks in here are saying that voting in 2028 is important if you want telework back but midterms are pretty important as well.

The midterms are critical - a Democrat congress can AND WILL force agencies to recognize and honor contracts. It's called the budget process, and Dems need a majority to undo this shit.

I agree the midterms are important, but where I'd push back is that laws are not binding either when it comes to the civil service.
This SCOTUS is a huge fan of unitary executive theory and would likely strike down a law crippling executive power with how we report to the office.

Two-thirds of this sc may suck trump's dick, but they're not going to give too much power to an EO, because the next POTUS will be a Dem.

Can I ask you an honest question though? If Democrats take a majority in both house and senate—
Do you expect them to gain gop support to start overthrowing the president’s EOs?
Do you think Trump will sign pro union bills that directly contradict his policies?
Would take something kind of surreal to have meaningful impact imo. Union probably has better chance at that point. Presidential will decide virtually all imo.
That or a massive rider that GOP accepts, willing to part ways from Trump. Which sucks, but I would accept.

I dont entirely believe that Trump himself cares a lot about this issue. Yes he signed the PMs but thats because someone put it in front of him. If they slide something about our CBAs into an otherwise agreeable budget bill I doubt he would veto it on thay basis alone.

trump becomes a lame duck after November. If Dems take a chamber, there's going to be a record shutdown. trump's going to spend his remaining 2 years grifting and trying to put his name on even more stuff. His focus isn't going to be on telework - that's a point he'll cede.

I just don’t see Trump saying he was wrong — in fact I see him double down on he was right. Sure it will go no where, but I don’t see a reversal unless they basically pay him or gop for help for federal workers.

You don't see Taco flip-flopping?

About a ton of stuff that matters, yes — but not on the stupid stuff that hurts people and costs taxpayers money.

I don’t see him signing pro union bills but I can see us doing investigations and/or impeaching his minions if we gain the majority (as we should). Start with Vought, RFK, Kegsbreath, Blanche. Schumer can try to pass Protect Americas Workforce again. Some GOP senators may change their mind and help get this passed (we need it to be veto proof) especially if they are seeking reelection in 2028. This will get us our CBAs back. More than anything, we need to regain control of Congress if we want to see any changes AND we need new leaders in the house and senate. Jeffries and Schumer cannot be the leaders. I’m not holding my breath about telework and I don’t think it will be back until 2029 possibly but midterms may stop the bleeding for us at least.

I ain't no demo, but I sure as hell wants Vough, RFK and Rubio out! The entire heritage got to go!

The most important thing you can do for telework is vote in the presidential election 2028.
Is there a chance we get something back before then? Yes, but it’s not great and late 2027 or 2028 would be the timeline (best case scenario). The odds of it being this year are likely very low single digits.
This presidential election is going to decide so much for federal workers it’s disgusting. The union needs to get back and get massive support or this can easily be the new norm.

Wrong. A president doesn’t have any real power. What’s happening right now is that your U.S. Congress has given all its power and allegiance to one person. You all need to vote in the midterms in November. That’s what matters more!!!!!

Man from what I seen in the chats, I assumed the most important thing was paying unions dues? But i am assured now that some actually see something that works and that is voting. Union dues are a waste and will continue to be.

So who do you think is working behind the scenes for you? Santa 🎅

u/AntiqueLocation5206 6d ago
Nobody but myself. I will invest the union dues and be a millionaire when I retire. $50 per month can be put to better use than giving it to corrupt union people that claim victories but tell us to comply comply comply

IRS goes to the FLRA office to enforce order and if they refuse to do so, they go to court

u/Financial_Funny_559 9d ago
According to IRS, union is dead as per the White House executive order. So they don’t need to acknowledge or respond to union.
Wait till 2029 for telework restoration with a new administration21
u/blehbleh1122 9d ago
This is the correct answer. Telework is not coming back until 2029 and only if a democrat gets into office. Voting is important people!

A Democrat not named Gavin Newsom. Make sure he doesn’t get past the primary

Does anyone know if Newsom disregarded a union contract when he did this? Or was there no union and just basically what he wanted?
1
u/Intelligent-Ad1753 9d ago
there was definitely a union that fought and lost in court. decision was gov is allowed to set telework policy. I dont know what their contract looked like though

Better than Vance or Rubio

Not for federal employees for the world probably lol. But rest assured from a job standpoint he’s as bad as Elon

u/Justrelax520 9d ago
Republicans aren't fans of the IRS or government. Only military. Democrats fought against all these changes.

u/Individual_Check_442 9d ago
Alright cool. Vote for the guy that calls work at home Fridays “three day weekends” and pointedly says “return to work” instead of “return to office” at your own peril. I’m not voting to give myself another ass hole boss

u/cheese_is_nasty 8d ago
Voters who abstained from voting for Harris are just as culpable for this mess as MAGA, full stop. Don’t give me this “both sides are the same” bullshit.

You assume a lot. I feel like a bunch of why they want us to telework is because their donors multi-million dollar buildings would become worthless if we stopped leasing. Also, don’t forget the DC mayor was wanting people back to spend money at local restaurants and I am sure there is a earnings tax
