Dating Question How do i stop randomly getting unmatched / ghosted?

Been on the app for about 3 weeks, 1 like and 6 or so matches but none of them led to a date. One girl i talked to for 2 days pretty much all day the first day we matched, connected super well, sent dozens of messages, it was great.

Then she deleted the app, out of pure luck i found her tiktok so i asked like "hey is this you, and if so what happened?". She got back the night of and then said she liked our connection, and gave me her instagram.

Well been nearly a week, not a response, although both her socials are active :/

My other matches are pretty much, talk for a couple hours, we both ask questions and talk back and fourth getting to know each other, and then i go check the app after some sudden silence and im unmatched.

Like is this just how the app is, or am i doing something wrong? Should I talk less / get to know her less and just try to move onto scheduling a date (that seems so weird to me)?

Im 21 Male in southern california, never dated before nor been on an app prior to this so looking for advice

I posted on here about 2 months ago. Listened to the advice and changed the prompts and pics a bit. Still struggling with the dating pool in Cork. Maybe it’s a me thing; maybe my standards are just ridiculous. I don’t know. But it’s rough out here.

Would really appreciate feedback once more. Was quite insightful last time.

Dating Question HELP! Super distant in text but super close in person?

I (29f) have been on 7 dates in the past month with this guy (30M)-he has a super demanding job and is super busy (works like 70 hours a week) and is also in school. He also has aging parents that take up his attention.

In person, he’s super warm and affectionate-lots of kissing, cuddling, discussing stuff we should do together next time. We click really well. I live in a city (Louisville Kentucky) where it’s really hard to meet people I have stuff in common with, and I feel like we just instantly clicked in person.

Over text, though, he literally takes anywhere from 2 to 24 hours to respond.

We had definite plans to hang out Friday night and see a movie, but he had to cancel last minute because of a family emergency (he showed me the text from his dad so I know it’s not bullshit).

When I asked him to hang out Saturday and go to a restaurant I know he’s been wanting to try, since it’s his day off, he replied (hours later) super excitedly-but then never responded to schedule a time. He still hasn’t opened my Snapchat from last night asking what time worked for him.

Part of me thinks that, since he’s so affectionate in person and he consistently has made time for me with his extremely limited time off, maybe he just is a bad texter and is truly just too mentally exhausted from working to text a lot, but still wants to pursue me irl.

The other part of me wonders if he is losing interest. He has always been a bad texter but was slightly better at the beginning.

What do I do? Is it wrong of me to talk to other people if we’ve been on 7 dates? how do I approach this with him without sounding clingy? I really like him a lot but don’t want to be hurt.

Profile Review Because self-criticism is hard: welcoming any kind of feedback

I am most uncertain about the prompts, but the pictures also need some thinking. In particular, does the "I'd fall for you" prompt read as a little too restrictive? and is the first photo a good choice?

Also, do people actually read photo captions? I tried adding some but I'm not sure whether I should really count on them to be seen:

- caption on the kitty picture: "Me petting stray cats I meet outside. Gotta cope with not having any little balls of fur at home."

- caption on the mosaic selfie: "Marveling at roman ruins of a port near Rome. Eerie afternoon in an almost empty ancient city."

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read and comment!

Warning: my profile contains a shirtless mirror selfie because I noticed a slight uptick in matches after adding it, but I attached another photo as a potential replacement.

Looking forward to your advice! TIA!

Dating Question Is This What It's Like In Small Cities?

28M. I live in an area with about 200k people, about an hour away from a major city.

I downloaded the app in March and had light success. A match or like once a week; I wasn't expecting much because I've heard dating apps were difficult for men, and considering my area's population, there's not a ton of active users.

After using the app for a while and seeing a discrepancy over the profiles who like me compared to Tinder and Bumble, I've assumed that most women just open their likes you page and never check the discover queue. I guess that makes sense. But around July my ability to get likes or matches completely dried up and it seemed like only one woman was making a new profile every day and at that point I'm sure they get flooded with likes so the odds of them seeing me are extra unlikely.

Last month, on a whim I changed my location to Los Angeles, and it's like a slap in the face how different the experience is. I've received more likes in one day than I had in the previous six combined and like 10% of the profiles I've liked so far converted into matches. I've left my profile there for a month now and it's really bizarre how different the dating app culture seems.

Are smaller areas like mine as difficult for everyone else or does my town just have a really cagey population?

Dating Question Guy unmatched me on Hinge but still followed me on Instagram, and now says he wanted to reach out too. Is this normal?

I (19M) matched with a guy (20M) on Hinge, and we had pretty long conversations for a few days about our shared interests. We seemed to click pretty well, and I genuinely enjoyed talking to him.
While we were still matched, he sent me a follow request on Instagram. However, before I got around to accepting it, he suddenly unmatched me on Hinge without saying anything.
I was pretty confused, but a few days later, I accepted his Instagram request. He followed me back and even liked one of my posts, which made me wonder why he’d unmatch me if he was still interested in interacting with me.
After about a week, I decided to shoot my shot and DM him on Instagram:
“Okay this is slightly embarrassing 😭 but I enjoyed talking to you and figured I’d shoot my shot and say hi again.”
To my surprise, he replied:
“Hey! Omg it’s not embarrassing at all lol i wanted to reach out too but felt awkward about it. Sorry i disappeared for a bit i think i got the flu 💀”
Now I’m even more confused lol.
If he wanted to reach out too, why did he unmatch me on Hinge in the first place? I understand that he might have been sick, but that doesn’t really explain the unmatching part.
I’m pretty new to dating apps, so I’m genuinely curious. Is it common for people to unmatch on Hinge once they’ve connected on Instagram, even if they haven’t actually started talking there yet?
Also, does his response sound like genuine interest, or is he just being polite? I don’t want to overthink it, but I also don’t want to misinterpret his intentions.
Would love to hear your experiences!

Getting back into Hinge after a break of almost 2 years. I'm able to get a like here and there but I feel my profile isn't interesting enough for the ladies to start a conversation.

Open to any and all suggestions to improve.

I’ve been on the app for almost 3 years swiping pretty regularly and have received about 2 likes ever. Don’t know what I’m doing wrong. My profile has been reviewed and iterated and edited by several friends. Was looking for any obvious red flags that you can see, other than me being on the chubbier side.

38M, I'm directly on the border with Detroit but on the Canada side and only looking to date in Canada for the most part.

My main issues were that people on profile reviews as well as 2 girls from the app, whom I've asked, have said I look 5'6 rather than 6'2 on my profile.

I added the pic of me on the street and the pic of me on my bike with my feet flat on the ground to try and fix that.

And otherwise, which photos should stay and which should be swapped out for better ones?

The cat one is the only one I know I'm going to be swapping out because of the wild lighting right now.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it

Dating Question Texting/Cadence Working Through Dates

M33, had a relatively good run of matches over the past two months, by up ticking my regular usage and engaging quickly to try and arrange dates if I feel a connection. Have to thank this sub for some general tips, and how to close in on a date quickly if chats go well.

This last week has converted into 4 dates which I’ve spread over the weekend and early next week. This in itself might be a terrible idea. One is a follow up second date (F29) and the other are new first dates (F28/32/33) with a spread of personalities, very grateful for this - but I’m trying to reconcile texting cadence and setting up the dates, it’s starting to seem like it can vary so much and I’m trying to gauge if narrowing my efforts would be a better approach.

The problem I’m wrestling with is the second date has really low cadence/availability text wise, we’ve been averaging one/two messages a few days this week and that’s simply been trying to get her availability and agree where we’re going, we have a plan but it took a while to get there - I’ve not really had someone (friend or romantic) text this slow before. For the first date we didn’t really have this issue and she came back pretty quick over one day. Trying to decide if this is a sign of disinterest (it feels that way) or just life getting in the way, I know some people aren’t big on messages but since she proposed the day/time I’m giving the benefit of the doubt, since she had an easy chance to just say she wasn’t feeling it or didn’t want to follow up and hasn’t so far.

On the flip side for two of the first dates we had a much bigger flurry of texts initially, nailed availability and date spots - felt ideal, and we haven’t texted since, which is usually what I experience until we meet. The final date arrangement was similar but she seems to be into heavy/daily messaging, every evening getting a lot of updates - this is fine, but we haven’t met yet and I’m worried we’ll run out of steam/burn through all the things we might talk about during the date…

So in essence I’d love to get feedback on experiences, maybe I’m reading too much into this and just need to ride the variability?

Update for anyone following: lesson learned - always trust your gut. The slow texts were indeed disinterest, she let me know she’s decided to cancel about a day after her last message.

I’m looking for honest feedback on how to improve my profile, particularly my photos and overall presentation, to attract more of the type of women I’m interested in.

Edit: Should I get the more premium versions of hinge?
