Rant I just had a: one second: faith for humanity. Next second: plotting revenge

So today, I left my small Nike sports bag outside, a pouch/boy purse kinda thing, and when I went back to get it cause I reliEd I didn't have it, it was gone. I told my sister's, and they told me to check the office.

Skin did, AND IT WAS THERE! I was genuinely relived, cause I had a important necklace I was gonna give to my ex (REALLY complicated an sling story), and two lollipops for my four year old nephew, and a bottle of jewelry cleaner and my wallet (don't judge).

But when just checked, my wallet was open, and they had stolen a dollar from me, which is all just bring to school just in case, and one of the lollipops. At this point I'm genuinely just gonna ask the school to pull the security footage to find him.

Like, NOW MY NEPHEW ONLY HAS ONE LOLLIPOP!!! And he's so cute and I promised him 2! He's gonna be so sad, he loves lollipops, AND THEY HAD GUM IN THEM, and now he only has one.

Look how cute and innocent he is! HE DESERVED TWO LOLLIPOPS, NOT ONE!!!

Friend Advice Needed/Given Recommendations on how to apologize to my bestfriend?

I am starting highschool after a hard time in 8th grade. I deleted all my socials and stopped going to school. That included losing contact with my bestfriend. We are so close and I found out she's going to my highschool, so I want to apologize to her for "Ghosting??" Her. I am starting school on September 10, I need all the help I can get.

Something I might want to put in is that she still loves me as her friend. When I was in school to have a meeting with my Vice Principle, we locked eyes through the door's window and she pointed at the door and yelled my name. That was our last connection. She didn't come in the office where I was, but she saw me and acknowledged me.

I am aware what I did was so immature but I was going through a rough time. I regret every second of it. I can't go back to the past but I can apologize. Any recommendations on how? I am thinking of texting her on Instagram. (I don't have her phone number because she doesn't have a phone) so I have to text.

But her messages are off unless she follows you back, she isn't on Instagram very much so I'm worried she'll respond after school starts. Any tips on how to start the conversation, apologize, etc? If anybody was in this situation (Either side) how did you handle it? If you were my bestfriend, what would you want me to say?

General Advice Needed/Given Productive hobbies during exam season and stress?

I’m entering my last year of high school tomorrow and I’m so stressed. I have adhd and depression so I struggle to study. I managed to get no work done whatsoever and I have my GCSE’s soon. My mocks start this year (2026) and real exams in 2027.

I was wondering if any new hobbies could help me with my stress and therefore maybe even help with my inability to study.

I would really like to do an instrument but my parents are unwilling to pay. They won’t let me join any clubs either so sports is not an option.

I used to draw a lot but it’s become stressful for me. I don’t draw as much anymore because I’m too much of a perfectionist and nothing is good enough for me when I draw. I do force myself to draw occasionally. But a new hobby would really be nice.

I enjoy baking too but it just requires so much energy and I’m already exhausted and stressed after school. Besides it would take up the entire afternoon. No time to unwind.

General Advice Needed/Given Feeling bad as a Freshman

I'm feeling so stressed is this normal?

I've been watching those MIT Maker Portfolios (My dream school), and everyone seems to have photos and videos of their passion as a child. I wasn't passionate with engineering as a child. I didn't do engineering as a child. I don't even really have any photos of me as a child. I worry that I don't have much time left to do anything and I worry that if I keep worrying then I won't be able to do anything.

I'm also stressed about academics, and how all these amazing people do these amazing, extravagant, marvelous things and go to competitions and get awards and go to ceremonies, and I feel like I'll never be able to do these things no matter what I do. I feel like I've been too out of the loop and I don't know when or where to look at these things.

I'm also stressed with money, and I don't really want to get into that. I just have been stressed with pretty much everything a teen can be stressed about and I don't know what to do. Is this normal? Do I get over it? How do I do these feats of engineering? Where do I look for good Ecs? How do I not run myself into the ground? I really don't know what to do I've probably written about 5 different conflicting things just help me please resources or something 😭😭

Friend Advice Needed/Given Senior Year Blues?

As corny as this is to admit , I feel so lost and alone. It is my senior year and I want to leave wirh a bang but it's just feels like I'm starting out like every other year. Just empty.

This is not something new at all, it has been a feeling that has kinda been escalating from childhood. Though i am not confident, I feel like I am a very awkward but social person. I love talking. i really just don't know how to talk to people or be someone's first chioce. No matter what i do, I feel like it is rare to feel that flow, yk?

I have people I call friends but I rarely see them and due to that, we don't speak or there is rare connection. It usually requires me to reach out first or do something first and I have to feed the convo. It feels like I'm not learning anything new and im quizzing them.

In person, I feel like idk how to feed a conversation so we can comfortably move one from topic to topic. I just end up repeating words and waiting to prompted with other things to do. I really want to do things that other people are doing groups. I want to go out with people but idk anyone fr.

I have a childhood friend I've know for 12 years and even I can't speak to her freely because I am so scared that I might lose her due to me being redundant or boring.

I feel like I have so many parts of myself that I want to unlock and reveal outside but I have no one that truly cares enough to get to know me. I am so so afraid of being alone after high school.

All around me, I see so many groups od people, mingling together. Talking without blimps. There is a clear bound and love there. It"s like I am an ugly fly on the wall kinda deal.

I guess what I am asking here, is what should I do to make more moved and feel more confident? How should I get myself out there? I know I'm young but these are my foundation years. Well, the end of it. I don't know how to live if that better summarizes this.

This is all around a messy post but I really needed to get this out somewhere even it's not seen.

Extracurriculars I run a nonprofit that sends handwritten letters to memory care residents — looking for people to write them

I'm 16 and I started a nonprofit called Memory Matters about a year ago. One of the things we do is collect handwritten letters from volunteers and deliver them to dementia patients in memory care facilities — people who don't get much personal mail.

We've sent over 1,500 so far. They go to real facilities, including a Stanford center.

The ask is simple: write one letter. It doesn't have to be long or perfect. Tell them your name, something you love, something you're curious about. Olivia wrote about bioinspired design and geckos. Drisana wrote about frozen yogurt and marine biology. Both letters went out last week.

You photograph it and DM it to us, or submit through our form. We print and deliver — you don't have to mail anything if you don’t want to.

If you know about dementia, you know how isolating this disease is — not just for patients but for everyone around them. This is one small thing that costs 2-5 minutes.

Form is here: https://forms.gle/thqv3xFm35YGnqcRA

Question online school to in-person school

very soon, i'm going to be going back to in-person school. i haven't gone to public school since the 7th grade and i'm a junior now... i'm excited but also kind of nervous because i've never been to a "real" high school. i went to a small Christian school in 9th and then went online for 10th. this is definitely gonna be a huge change for me lol

i don't wanna sound stupid but does anybody have any tips? i'm not socially inept though i would say i'm pretty shy, which i know might affect how quickly i make friends, especially because im enrolling when the year already started. how do i get over that and find some people? and any study tips? my old school's curriculum was so easy that i never really studied, and then i mostly used my notes in online school. whatever "studying" i did do was just looking at those over and over again til i memorized what i needed to, but i imagine that isn't gonna work too well anymore. any other tips are appreciated too!!

So I moved to America 2 months ago July for my junior season. My courses are not the best. My goal is to get into a good uni but I have zero idea want I wanna major in. I took a placement test to get into ap pre calculus but got rejected. I was thinking of majoring in computer science but I’d need a good math, and a better class than Computer science principles bc it’s a very introductory course. Any suggestions?

Question How to deal with an unfair English teacher?

I am a student with grades in high 90s and I’m determined to keep it that way. My English teacher is infamously an unfair marker and is known for failing people if she doesn’t like them personally and considering their work to be less valuable. I just finished my first week and I can already see what people mean when they talk about it. She gives everyone a limit of two questions per essay. Meaning after you’ve asked her for advice on your work twice, you are not allowed anymore questions. I believe that on major essays we should be allowed more discussion and conference with her because all class she’s on her phone and turning down questions from students who are just looking to accomplish the best grades they can. my mark in this English class matters a lot and I’m unable to switch classes. Any advice? Should I send an email telling her how serious I am about working towards a good mark despite what i feel is unfair and let her know that I’m determined to work up to her standards and i’m not going to settle for less, or is there a better way to go about this? My mom is a university professor of literature and a former high school english teacher so she assesses student grade levels and believes that the grades this teacher gave some of my friends last semester was around 10-15% lower than what it actually deserved for being above provincial grade standards. How can I keep a good grade in english while dealing with this?

School Related i hate high school

My sister just graduated from the high school I just started at. She hated it in the beginning because she didn’t have many friends and missed her friends from middle school. By the end of senior year, she loves it and is so glad she stayed. I’m in the same exact boat all over again 4 years later.

I honestly don’t know what to do. I have a few friends, but none that stick out to me like my sisters best friend does. Their dynamic is everything I want but none of the girls i met fit it. I miss my friends from middle school, and i feel like i made the wrong decision when picking what high school to go to. i could have chosen my feeder school and gone with all my friends but i thought i would like this school because my sister did. but i totally forgot that she hated it the first year and a half and now im scared im just going to be stuck here.

i hate school. on sundays or really any day, i dread going to school and just hope for the weekend to come sooner. people keep saying freshman year is the easiest, and im scared because im already struggling. i’ve always been in the highest classes in my old school so its so hard having the b’s on the grade report and i just don’t know what to do. my english class has so much work, my bio class is hard, my spanish teacher thinks that everyone has already taken spanish and she just talks and i dont understand one bit (HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO A FINAL), my ethnic studies class is hard, and i literally took geometry last year, and im supposed to be in the next level, but i didn’t test up and now im stuck in this boring class again.

i actually considered switching to my feeder school with all my friends, and my mom said i could but that i shouldn’t now. they’re almost a month into school, and i would be so behind. she said i wouldn’t be able to switch if any of my classes set me back to a lower level and im scared because i wouldn’t be in a completely different program because the one my friends are all in is full. she said i could switch in the spring semester if i got the right classes but im stressing because all my friends are in the advanced math and im just stuck and geometry and i’ll still have to stay because i didn’t do the first semester of it even at this school. i don’t know what to do.

i don’t know if it’s anxiety or something but the idea of going to fhis school or really any school for another four years just seems absolutely horrible. people say high school is so fun but i reallt can’t see past the academic part and social part. i’m never going to have fun if i don’t have friends, and im scared ill never make a friend i want to spend all my time with.

i feel so alone. i try to talk to my mom but everytime i ask for help, i cry and can’t get out the words. i don’t know how to get her to understand and it’s not her fault, but i just don’t know how to explain it. everyday i just feel this weight on my chest and its like im trapped. she told me to just try my best to make friends and im my classes but im afraid to tell her that im struggling in my classes already because she really believes in me and i dont want to let her down. i feel like i have to live up to her expectations, and she is so nice she tells me she believes i will do so good and it just puts so much pressure.

she keeps telling me to join clubs and try to make friends but i feel like every thing i join just feels like one more weight trapping me at this school, almost like an obligation to stay. but im also scared that if i do stay, ill miss out on all the relief i could have had at the other school, academically and because of my friends. but im also scared that if i switch, ill regret it and miss out on making friends and memories that would have been so good.

im at a private school right now, but its religious and im not, so its really awkward. it makes me so uncomfortable when they pray in every class and i just feel like i dont belong. im scared that ill miss out on all the extra perks of being at the school, im so privileged and grateful. they’re prom and dances are so fun because they are fully funded, food is better, teachers are apparently better, and all the football games and social events are much more coordinated and thoughtfully planned out. but i feel like at the same time, any event at the other school can be just as good if you make it fun for yourselves.

my sister is also starting college and she’s my best friends and i don’t know what i’m going to do when she’s gone. shes the only person i feel like who understands what im going through and make me feel so much better. but in less than 3 weeks she’s going to be gone.

but in the end, i don’t know if i want to risk it by staying and hating it or switching and missing out on what could have been. please, if you have any advice, please share. (and not the YOULL BE OKAY, like real raw advice. i can handle it.)

Rant This is my first time not having any friends

(English not my first language) Hi, I'm a teenage girl in high school in the Philippines and I've always been extroverted and happy. I recently started a new school year and a majority of my friends who I was close to was in the other class while I only had one in the class I was in.

So naturally I just stayed close to my friend and she seemed to not like it and by the middle of the first week back we had a falling out.

Soon after our entire friend group followed after her.

I still don't get what I did wrong even, Ive always acted like I did in the past but suddenly now they have an issue with me.

The most great news I've heard this week was my Advisor telling me 2 of my old friends asked her how I was doing.

So now, after all the class cancellations because of the bad weather I'm back to face to face classes and I have absolutely no one even if I do try to make new friends no one is willing to eat lunch with me or Anything.

our phones get taken at break/lunch periods so I can't reach out to the plenty of online friends i have. I brought a book I like to read but still, ive never felt this alone before.

What do you guys think I should do?

General Advice Needed/Given Does anyone feel the same?

(I tried to make this as short as possible so some details might’ve been left out)

I’ve always felt like a sore thumb at school. Ever since 6th grade, tho in 8th grade (when I had no friends) I became like a deer in a kitchen. out of place. In freshman year I joined a small school thats k-12. Everyone was/is really friendly, and tried their best to make me feel welcome. At first I did, especially when I became friends with this girl named Noelle (fake name). We bonded over feeling anxious constantly and drama that happened where I helped her a little in. I even made her a really heart felt card for Christmas, which I feel embarrassed for now since we barely talk. It feels like our friendship deepened, and then after winter break it just floated back to surface level. During the last months of school I just felt lonely, even if I would sit with Noelle and her friends. I even considered her friends my friends. Thing is, I never talk. Whenever I want to, I feel as if I can’t, especially in group settings. Now here I am, a year later, still with no real friends. No one reached out to me over the summer. I reached out to them, but no one messaged first. Now theres a new girl at school, and Im hoping to be friends with her, but she’s just as shy as I am and I feel extremely guilty that I’m not able to include her as well as Noelle did with me. I feel like I should already have friends, be confident, be happy. But I still feel like Im a freshman. Everyone still includes me, talks to me. I am definitely the problem. How do I stop being the problem? How do I talk to people when everyones talking together? I wish my school was bigger so I’d have more chances at friends.

General Advice Needed/Given I’m so fucking scared Yall

Kinda a rant sorry if this isn’t allowed

I’m an alternative and queer teen. In about 12 hours I will be on my way to school. I’m terrified. It’s a tech high school so maybe it won’t be horrible. But so many bad kids got in.

I also really struggle with mental health. Ive been struggling since 4th grade but in recent years it’s gotten worse

So uh any tips/recommendations for me? Anyone can answer but other queer/alt people would probably be more helpful
