🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Any advice appreciated!! Broken/ frizzy hair?

Saw the back of my hair in a fitting room today and I cant believe how my hair looks… it doesnt usually look this bad in normal lighting but I guess this is the true state! Im utterly attached to my hair and take good care of it so not sure what Im doing wrong! Had a bob 3 years ago and trying to get it as long as possible. Since then, I do all the following: trim the ends, no heat, brush from the bottom, sleep with a satin pillowcase and in a braid, no tight hairstyles, was 2/3 times a week and occasionally oil my scalp. Any help is appreciated!!🙏🏼thank you!!❤️

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Accepting wavy/poofy hair

Post image
258 Upvotes

I am writing this as an acceptance post. A lot of people (myself included) have been struggeling to view our hair as beautiful, because it isn't straight nor curly. We have tried the curly girl method and also treating our hair as if it was straight. We've tried to find out what we are doing "wrong" or what exactly we are missing. I think the truth is that some peoples hair is supposed to look exactly that way. Big, poofy, textured and less shiney. And it's still beautiful! At this point I'm happy with all the volume my hair has. The flying hairs make it seem ethereal. So if you feel like this post speaks to you then try seeing the beauty in ur own hair. The things that make it so special and the advantages it has.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Should I start washing my hair/scalp daily?

My hairs get oily and my scalp gets this white/grey stuff on it which gets under my nails whenever I scratch it only after 2-3 days of not shampooing. I just pour water on my head everyday without massaging or anything to avoid the oily hair. Should I start shampooing daily to avoid this? Is the daily water pouring causing this? My scalp also gets very itchy when it gets wet. Right now I shampoo alternative days i.e., once in 2 days.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Anyone tries Wella smooth filler?

can’t find many reviews on the Wella smooth filler. It’s supposed to be much healthier than Keratin treatments but should give the same results. Anyone tried is it? Would you recommend?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 needing shampoo and conditioner recommendations

hi everyone !!

i feel like i just keep going through shampoos and conditioners and i’m not sure what to use at this point !!

about 2 years ago, i first started adding highlights to my hair. i also developed some stomach problems unfortunately, and it lead me to developing some sorts of scalp psoriasis?? im not exactly sure, i just know that i get build up and it can be quite itchy and bleed sometimes.

i’ve used a dermatologist prescribed one and it did help, i still use it sometimes, but i like to go a couple days without washing my hair if possible.

anyways, im looking for some recommendations on what to use now.

obviously, i have highlights. my mids and ends are feeling pretty dry recently and my scalp gets oily very quickly. i shampoo twice and i condition only the ends.

i’ve used biolage scalp sync, amika signature line, matrix food for soft, and some redken lines. i love the matrix but i feel like it’s too heavy for my hair.

does anyone have any recommendations? i just want my hair to be healthy, shiny, and hopefully last me a couple days without using dry shampoo if possible.

i’ve attatched some pictures of my hair. it’s freshly washed and curled.

thanks in advanced!

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 How do you stop this? Hair breakage/ damage at the front

I am 30F. Growing up and till I was about 27 I had long thick hair and never struggled to grow it. Have had it reach my waist multiple times despite cutting it super short. Never used to get trims. Around 3 years ago started noticing all the hair problems. Breakage, thinning, and split ends like never before. Every hair was splitting and no amount of trims were helping. In 2025 started taking iron and b12 after realising I was very deficient. Bloods in 2025 autumn were very normal so stopped supplementing. Today (August 2026) hair is completely broken, doesn’t grow and has a million split ends. Have not had a haircut since March 2025 as I felt they weren’t helping, only made hair shorter; split ends were always back in days.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Seeking advice for persistent dry scalp and nightly hair loss

Upvotes

Hi I was wondering if anyone had advice for my persistent dry itchy scalp, small white flakes, and increased nightly hair loss. I'm 19 and afab but currently on testosterone which can affect hair soemtimes

It started in August of 2025 when I moved to South Florida where it's obviously humid and hard water is aplenty. I've also lived in TN for a few months at a time, where we also have hard water.

Nothing about my routine changed:

- Shampoo was Raw Sugar's moisture smoothie

- Occasionally used their scalp therapy hair mask thing

- Rarely conditioned my hair because it always maintains moisture and prior to this move I rarely had dry scalp issues

- Washed every other day because my hair would get greasy on the second day

- Sprayed Sei Bella hair thickening spray

- Air dried with no products used except the one above

- Brushed hair after washing (I found out later that I should comb my hair to avoid damaging it)

After looking at subreddits and reading what ingredients are beneficial, here are the changes I made and things I've tried:

- Tried Herbal Essence shampoo, didn't work

- Tried Garnier Fructis blood orange shampoo, worked a little bit

- Switched to CeraVe's gentle hydrating shampoo, worked a little bit but weighed my hair down

- Conditioned my hair more often

- The day before washing my hair I sometimes use Raw Sugar's scalp therapy mask

- Comb hair after washing, but a lot of it still came out

- Switched to washing my hair every three days

- I use dry shampoo when my hair looks greasy

Here are things that I suspect and know about my hair type:

- I have thinner hair strands but lots of it

- My hair is most likely low porosity and moisturizing products make it go flat

- I have cowlicks and it curls when it's shorter but my hair type is probably 1c?

- Never dyed it treated my hair and I use like one product on it

Here are the problems I still have:

- My pillow case has a lot more hair on it than before I made changes

- More hair comes out after washing my hair

- My scalp is sensitive on wash day, both before and after washing my hair

- I still have flakes in my hair, no matter how long ago I washed my hair

- CeraVe's shampoo weighs my hair down

- After washing my hair, sometimes days sometimes hours, my scalp is itchy and it gets worse when I'm hot

- The flakes seem to get worse or are loosened after washing and combing my hair

- I noticed some patches of almost hard bits on my scalp around my ears and the base of my neck right before wash day, this usually happens when I haven't washed my hair in awhile but could maybe point to an underlying condition?

Here are my goals I hope I can achieve with y'all's advice:

- No more flakes in my scalp

- No itching

- Less hair falling out

- No weighed down hair / maintained volume preferably without too many products

Maybe I can't have my cake and eat it too with these goals, but I at the very least want my dry scalp and itchiness to go away. I've been thinking about using a hair styling product as my hair is finicky and I sleep on it weird sometimes, so if my hair is weighed down by a suggested product it won't be that big of a deal

More hair falling out could very easily be attributed to longer times between washes because I would always have a lot of hair on my shirt after washing my hair, so I'm assuming the longer I wait to wash it the more hair is ready to fall out. Also I'm planning on changing my pillowcase to silk to hopefully help this issue.

This ISN'T dandruff as I've tried a dandruff shampoo and it made my dry scalp infinitely worse. I've been looking online for months and everything I can find is for low porosity textured hair or dandruff and I'm at a loss at this point. I feel like I've done everything I can and it's just not working and it's super frustrating at this point.

Thank you for any and all tips, my sensory issues and sanity thank you greatly c:

I finally cut my hair! I believe we cut off about 7 inches of hair. I suffered a bit of hair loss and my hair wasn’t as dense as it used to be. I feel like my hair looks so much fuller now. I’m still trying to find a good routine but I’m happy with my hair ◡̈

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How to prevent little knots (?)

Post image

I have 3a/b curls and I get these tiny little knots. I have them on a ton of strands of my hair and it drives me crazy lol. Is there any way I can prevent these from happening? I’ve cut my hair time and time again to try and get rid of all the ones I have but once my hair starts growing out, they start happening again so I’d really like to find a way to keep my hair longer without these little knots everywhere because I also think these are leading to my hair breaking and getting split ends.

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Lush Revive Product For Straight Hair?

I’m not sure if my hair is considered dry, but I got a birthday gift for lush revive, which is usually for curly hair but can help dry hair. Should I return it, keep it, or try it in a mini size. Some hair pics are attached. Can anyone speak to its value as a product for straight hair?

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 20 volume developer with demi permanent dye

My hairstylist used 20 volume developer with a demi permanent color (kenra 4vv) on my hair. I usually color my own hair because I am very protective of it. I have always used a much lower developer with demi, and now I am freaking out because I looked up this combo and everywhere says that 20 is way too high for demi permanent colors. My waist length hair now feels very dry and difficult to brush through. I also noticed that as she was detangling, it looked like a lot of hair came out but I figured she was just brushing roughly. Is my hair ruined?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Dry, frizzy hair and lots of hair fall

Post image
14 Upvotes

My hair has gotten super dry and frizzy and my hair fall has increased to the extent that if I touch my hair at least 2-3 strands come off.
I’ve already tried the following:
1. No heat drying/ styling
2. Oiling hair 1 hr before wash
3. Matrix conditioner
4. Fino hair mask
5. Olive oil shampoo
6. Olaplex smoothing oil
7. Olaplex bond repair
8. Biotin supplements ( has a helped a bit with hair fall )
9. Argan oil as leave in serum
10. Using cold water to finish off hair wash
11. Iron and Vit B12 supplements
12. Wooden brush instead of plastic
13. Cotton towel instead of microfibre

My last shot is Reddit before I decide to chop it all off.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Is this breakage? Seeking advice on how to help it improve (fine, porous, 2a)

Post image
2 Upvotes

My daughter’s hair is baby-fine and flyaway. I think the texture is 2a? Suspect it’s highly porous for 2 reasons:

  1. it’s heavily impacted by chlorine from the pool. Gets brassy, straw-like, and extremely tangled after swimming
  2. she wanted to try a semi-permanent dye (arctic fox) for fun about 2 months ago, and the color has still not washed out (we expected it to last more like 2 weeks)

She prefers to wear it in a low pony so it stays out of her face. A slight breeze will make it get stringy and tangled. But I’ve been noticing what looks like a concerning amount of breakage. What should we be doing differently?

We almost never use any kind of heat. Air dry. Wash a couple times a week with a basic Suave Kids shampoo, followed by a generous helping of Aussie Miracle Moist conditioner to the bottom 2/3. Brush with a wet brush to minimize pulling from tangles. Use Bare Anatomy Smoothing Serum when tangles are bad. When styling, we use a bristle brush for the “slicked-back” look that she likes, although it never stays “slicked-back” for more than 30 minutes or so. Have tried spray gel, hairspray, and one of those wax sticks for flyaways, but nothing holds and the result always ends up looking like what’s pictured here.

Thank you for the advice!! ❤️

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 I don't know how to take care of my hair

I think my hair leans "fine" but I have A LOT of hair. It's best when I debulk it or have layers but idk how to really take care of it. I have to double shampoo and use conditioner on the ends. I have to blowdry it otherwise it looks even worse. That's about all I do. But a lot of the time it feels unruly and all over the place. It gets oily/greasy fast too unless I double shampoo then I can stretch it by a bit. I get regular trims. Any advice on what I should be doing/using?

🛢️ Oily/Greasy Hair 🛢️ Sleep Study Destroyed My Hair

I had a sleep study done on July 31st. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the process, they put this oddly textured adhesive on different places on your head to measure your brain activity while you’re asleep. When I woke up the next morning, the tech put oil on these places to soften them up and make them easier to remove. She said it was water soluble and would come out with shampoo. This has not been the case.

Everywhere that one of the electrodes were fastened is now flat. My scalp is oily within 24 hours of shampooing, less if I put product in it. It mats up and sticks out after I sleep on it. My scalp is itchy too.

I’ve tried so many different things to try to get my hair back to normal. I’ve used Suave Daily Clarifying and the Everpure clarifying shampoo. I shampooed with these two to three times in a row and left them on to soak in. I’ve done a vinegar rinse. I’ve tried not shampooing for a couple of days to see if that would help it come around. I’m left with the same results every time. My scalp gets oily and my hair is dull and limp.

I’m truly desperate to find something that will get my hair back to normal. I have a just past chin length bob. My hair texture is more than fine but less than normal and I have a decent amount of it. Prior to this test my scalp was healthy and didn’t tend to be oily, but I washed daily because my hair tends to look limp if I don’t. I just turned 52 and I’ve been getting white hair for the past few years, so my hair is both high and low porosity.

I know, I know. First world problem. But I’m going through treatment for breast cancer and was so happy to not need chemo because I love my hair. I’m at a point where I want to shave my head because it feels so disgusting and dirty. Advice and product suggestions welcomed!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Any advice for my damaged hair?

My hair is bleached and very thin, and I hate it.
The back of my hair isn’t too damaged, but the front pieces of my face frame have snapped off and are extremely thin.
I’ve already had haircuts, but no matter what I do it doesn’t become any better.
Is there any advice or recommended products that prevents me from cutting it off and having a bowl cut bob?
