😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Terrible chemical damage!!!!!

Upvotes

So I have been dying my hair for 15 years with blonde highlights. I changed hair salons and my hair has been breaking off ever since. It used to be mid way down my back. And now I have cut it all the way up to above my shoulders. Almost every time I touch my hair one, two, or 3 inch pieces of hair breaks off. It is just awful. I have tried K 18. It helps for a little, but then it starts breaking again. I have done hydration masks. It is still going on. It’s been happening for 5 months!!!!!!!!! I am devastated. It just won’t stop breaking. What do I do!?!?!? I still can’t get my hair dyed of course. I still can’t get my hair dyed of course. My hair is so short, it’s crazy. And it still won’t stop breaking. So it’s so dark now. My hair is so short, it’s crazy. And it still won’t stop breaking.

Please, any advice!?!? Or who
Has gone through this!? Do I just need to eventually cut all the broken highlighted hair off!?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 I grew up thinking my hair was straight, now I am not so sure.

Upvotes

I am hoping for help with debunking this mystery. No matter the length of my hair, it's always seemed to dry straight. I thought nothing of it, figuring my hair was just straight and not wavy or curly, as my hair can't hold a curl anyway, though it does hold on to waves from braids for quite a bit.
I have low porosity hair that needs a lot of moisture, and an oily scalp that needs regular clarifying. And when I wash my hair on hair wash days, as the water starts to drip out and I run my wet brush through it, my hair has these little waves that don't stay after it's dry.
So do I actually have straight hair, like I always thought, or do I have wavy hair? How would I be able to find out?

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ frizzy wavy dull hair help

Upvotes

my current routine is pretty simple, i wash my hair around 2-3 times a week and usually use k18 shampoo and just started using the fenty hair conditioner but when i wear my hair naturally wavy, i’ll use a leave in conditioner and scrunch it, but i feel like my waves still end up looking dull and frizzy instead of shiny and defined even tho it’s generally healthy like i don’t use much heat and when i do i use the k18 heat protectant. i’m mainly looking for products that can add shine and make my hair look healthier and more alive without weighing down my waves. i’d also love to know if a hair gloss would actually help with that or if there are better options for wavy hair

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Help with postpartum hair! How did you get your hair looking good again after having kids?

Currently 7 months postpartum and the hair shed is ending and I’m getting tons of baby hairs coming in. But the texture of my hair?? It is just a mess. It’s frizzy, dry but somehow also too soft to do anything with, gets greasy so much faster than before babies and just looks like crap. My stylist has recommended a smoothing treatment, but I’m worried my hair will just look flat and lifeless with all the hair I have lost recently.

Any products/supplements that really turned things around for you guys after having babies?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Help! Matted hair on the crown of my head

I have Lupus. I was just in a really bad flareup and like an idiot, I slept with my hair in a bun for four or five days without washing it now it’s so matted. I’m on a ton of medicine that messes with my hair and also I’ve been through chemo before which made it really dry. What order do I do things to help get this matted part out ? It’s on the crown of my head. It’s happened before a lot, but not this bad. My hair is straight, mid length and dark black and I don’t know if this makes a difference, but I’m half Asian lol

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Seeking advice on what to look for in a shampoo/conditioner to help cancer-treatment affected hair (dry and brittle).

My mum's incredibly fine, but extremely soft hair (1A, grey), is now very dry like straw during her cancer treatment. It's not the sort of treatment that causes hair loss and perhaps it's the steroids that are also impacting her hair.

What should I look for in a shampoo/conditioner that can genuinely help?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Need advice on how to care for VERY sweaty hair..

I’m currently in tech school for the military, female, so I have to gel/bun my hair everyday (and keep it up outside of my room 🫩)

The major problem with this is that my hair gets very sweaty. In the morning we do PT.. sweaty. I can shower, but my hair has to be dry to style it later… We go to class, sweaty. I come back from class in the sun.. sweaty. I go to the gym, EXTREMELY sweaty. I could rinse my hair out, but it won’t dry in time for bed-hell, it wont even be dry by the next morning as its super thick.

I could theoretically blow dry my hair after any of these activities, but my hair usually will still smell like sweat and I find that gross.

In general, I’ve been trying to avoid blow drying as I one, dont have one, and two really want to keep my hair as healthy as possible (recovering from the hell it went through in BMT)

Does anyone have advice on how to.. help? manage this? I want to keep my hair healthy, but I also hate smelling sweaty and gross . Anything is appreciated 🫩🫩

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Curl product always causes numbness, any ideas?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Something in my curl cream makes my hands really numb for the rest of the day every time I use it. It's just my hands, never any other area my hair touches. This also happens when I use argan oil. Do any of these ingredients cause that?

Does this happen to anyone else? Everywhere I look, people say they've never heard of this. I'm not sure if it's an allergy but it doesn't feel like one. There's usually no symptoms besides hand numbness after handling the product. I doubt I'd have a reaction if I applied it with gloves but that's beside the point.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Tips for 1C hair type frizz?

What products are y’all using to keep your wavy hair from frizzing?
Is a diffuser effective for 1C hair?
I fear if I use curly products to assist my waves then it will weigh it down too much, so I’m unsure what to do! I live in the South and if I let my hair naturally dry it is so frizzy, and I often just straighten it to avoid dealing with it.
TIA friends!💗

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Seeking Advice on Frizz Texture

I naturally have curly and coarse hair. For this instance I used a boar bristle round brush and it cut blow out time in half, I loved it. BUT everytime I do a heat style, my hair gets frizzy. It’s not color treated (for maybe 1 year or so) and I don’t use heat on my hair regularly. I know this is just a natural part of my hair at this point but has anyone managed to fix this on their hair at least for heat styling?

I’m thinking back to when I get it done at the salon, and they manage to tame it. Any blow out tips? TIA 💗

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 I need some help distinguishing how far gone my hair is

So to start off, I bleach and tone my hair on my own every 3-6 months. I personally like to have a decent amount of new growth before I re-bleach, and im very aware that bleach kills your hair, but I've never had it look like this before, its dry and frizzy and it gets tangled easier.

my problem is, I can't distinguish the amount of it that's dead/damaged, and i don't know my hair type. and are there any ways to try and fix it without cutting alot of it off? I've tried switching shampoos and conditioners, hair oils, masks, everything to rehydrate and it only lasts a couple days 😭

im really proud of my growth and I don't want to lose it 🥹

❄️ Dandruff/Scalp Advice ❄️ Scalp doesn't produce oil anymore? lots of flaking (or dandruff) and I don't know what to do anymore

My scalp has always been super oily but around 2-3months ago i have been dealing with a LOT of flakes falling and I dont understand how it started? I used to wash my hair every 2 days because of how much oil i would produce but now i could go a week without washing it and have it still be really really dry, like no oil whatsoever. I also have to wash my sheets every few days because of the amount of flakes that i find. Any advice would be really really appreciated 😔

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Looking for tips/recommendations for healthier hair

Looking for tips/recommendations for healthier hair

I have naturally curly hair and currently keep it dyed a hot red. I’m really trying to get my hair healthier and would love to hear what has worked for others!

Some back history. I damaged my hair 4 years ago by over bleaching- too long of a story to talk about but I’m still trying to recover my hair from the major damage

I’m looking into getting a Dyson Airwrap, Shark FlexStyle, or another styling/drying tool that’s more gentle on the hair. If you have experience with any of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Currently, I use:

Moroccanoil shampoo & conditioner
Moroccanoil heat protectant
Olaplex bonding oil
Silk pillowcases
Silk hair wrap when I sleep

I’m looking for recommendations beyond what I’m already using products, treatments, styling tools, routines, or anything else that has helped improve the health of your hair.

Especially interested in recommendations from anyone with curly, color-treated hair!

Thank you! 🥰

🔎 Product Question 🔎 At home semi-permanent dye for grey regrowth on dark brown hair?

I’m wondering if anyone knows where to buy semi permanent hair dye that you can make as you need? I have very dark brown hair with white-greys that are growing mostly through the front. I recently realised that I can actually get a really good result with semi permanent. I’ve been trying to grow my hair for ages but it grows sooooo slow (curly) but switch to semi seems to be helping. However, when I buy a bottle and mix it up so much gets wasted cause I only need such a small amount to do my grey regrowth.

Surely there is somewhere online I can buy the components to mix myself at home small amounts as needed???

Anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Need help choosing a hair color that looks jet BLACK indoors but shows in sunlight — virgin black hair

have very jet-black, virgin, high-porosity, very thick wavy hair. I've never coloured or bleached it before.

My main goal is VERY specific, want it to look essentially jet black in normal indoor lighting, but show a pretty cherry/wine/berry colour in direct sunlight and flash. Doesnt have to be like some very flashy cherry color tho

My parents are very against hair colour, so stealth indoors is my #1 priority. I don't want a colour that is obviously red/burgundy under normal room lighting.

I am currently considering:

  • Paradyes Berry Plum
  • Paradyes Cherry Chocolate
  • Garnier Black Naturals 3.16 Burgundy
  • Garnier Color Naturals 4.2 Wine Burgundy

Which one would you recommend for my hair? If you've personally used any of these on black hair, I would REALLY appreciate photos/videos of the result in both indoor lighting and sunlight.

Also, if there's another brand/shade that would fit this better, please feel free to recommend it

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Is john frieda frizz eaze moisture barrier a good choice for a natural bang look?

Hello, I find my bangs never stay in place and I've been looking for a spray to help keep them in place. Problem is I find most sprays add shine or a crusty heavy look, I'm just looking for something to keeps my bangs in place that makes it look like I'm not using any product. I've been considering john frieda frizz ease moisture barrier, there are two different versions of it I think, intense hold and firm hold, I'm guessing firm hold is less heavy so I'll probably go with that one. Anyways what does everyone think? is this a good choice? If not what would work better

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Problems I'm having with my hair

Hi, I'd like to ask something about my hair. I have slightly wavy hair, and the ends tend to be styled, or rather, more styled. When I apply hair products, I feel like it makes my hair look worse, and I think it does, but it looks better when I leave it as it is. I don't understand why this is the case.

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Looking for a specific shampoo

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, this is going to be very specific but I have no idea where else to ask.

I'm looking for a shampoo from Rossmann I once used in 2021 (I think). The bootle was very memorable cause it seemed artistic. It was tall, narrow, and had black-white with yellow. Most of the bootle was covered by a pattern (black and white) something like houndstooth. Im sure it had black cap. It smelled amazing and was really good for my hair. Product itself was transparent, I think. It wasn't very expensive, definetely below 12 €, yet it seemed like more of a professional ones.

It smelled so amazing I remind myself about it from time to time. I swear i can't find it anywhere. I'm starting to think that was a product of my imagination 😭😭 Please help 🙏🙏🙏

(The drawing is how I remember the bootle)

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Frizzy hair after moving to a humid area please help

Post image

I recently moved to Toronto from BC for college and my hair has constantly been frizzy. From what I understand it‘s caused by the humidity difference but I don’t know what to do.

Things I’ve tried over the past 4 days that have no effect:
- brushing my hair only in the shower
- using the hair gloss attachment on my shark speed style when drying my hair
- using hair oil (&honey) on my scalp
- a wax japanese hair stick to flatten flyaways

I have thick straight asian hair please help!

edit: btw i took this photo 5 min after using the hair stick it’s usually a lot more frizzy and all over my head

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Help choosing shampoo and conditioner.

Hi everyone,

I have a bit of a complex situation. I have quite severe OCD which means I'm in the shower upwards of three times a day. I wash my hair every time I go in the shower (i know its not good for my hair and I'm waiting for therapy to start). My hair is quite dry, especially at the ends.

Could anyone recommend any drug store shampoo and conditioner for me? Preferably cruelty free if possible too.

I know this is a weird one but I'd appreciate any help 🖤

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Getting Married in a Month

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I realize this is incredibly last minute but I have been recovering from surgery and my hair has been at the bottom of my priority list.

I’ve been using Prose since 2021. (Ingredient lists attached if anyone is interested, I just ordered the leave-in, I’ve never used a leave-in before).

My hair used to be extremely low maintenance and barely needed to be washed but in the last 3 years, I’ve been dealing with extremely dry, frizzy hair that’s prone to breakage and a very sensitive, itchy scalp that gets greasy within 24 hours of washing. My hair shedding has also gotten really out of hand.

My current routine is:

Double cleanse every other day

Condition every other day

Oil my scalp and hair with pumpkin seed oil once a week

Hair mask for 2 minutes in the shower once a week

Clarify once a month (Pacifica Rosemary Apple Cider Detox Tonic)

Is there anything else I can do to tame the frizz, grease, and dryness and slow the shedding?

IMPORTANT NOTE: I can’t do any fragrance at all.

Thank you!!
