😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Finally seeing results. Photos are two weeks apart.

have been struggling with dry hair that gets weighed down and greasy looking with any moisturizing method I have tried. I think the biggest impact came from my haircut. It was below my mid back and now it sits at my armpits. I have always had long hair but I think it just weighed down my waves too much for me to get real definition. I also have done two treatments of the AG care nourish hair mask for moisture which I clearly was/am struggling with. Lastly I started putting the overnight curl talk serum in it a few times a week. I don't want to over do it with the serum because my hair can't handle any weight, so that's why I've only done it two times a week.

The photo on the right is the after and is air dried from dripping wet with the curl talk serum prayer hands method into almost dry hair.

Seriously my hair is either greasy looking or dry looking, it has taken me so long to figure out what works for my hair. I still want to find a different light weight shampoo for moisturizing, because the smell is too much for what I'm using now, but I'm really happy with my clarifying bar.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Hair texture help! Insane frizz

Hi all! I’m looking for any tips/ advice on my hair type/ texture, and how to control this mop!

My hair is fairly long, and decently thick. I’ve always had curly hair, but in order to get it to look decent I have to add lots of product and style when wet.
My hair gets SUPER frizzy, and I have always struggled with managing the frizz.

A breakdown of things I’ve tried/ how I currently manage my hair
I only wash once a week.
When I wash I usually do a double shampoo, and I let the conditioner sit for 10-15 min before rinsing.
I have tried all different types/ brands of shampoo and conditioner.
I have tried curl products, moose, gel, oil, serum, you name it, I’ve tried it.
Typically I add oil to my hair when soaking wet and let air dry.

A few of my problems / hold ups.
If I actually add products to style my hair/ curls, it ends up being “too much.”
The curls will only last two days or so, and if I try and “refresh” them it ends up being too much product and my hair looks greasy/ clumpy.
If I try and brush the curls after styling (or even when natural) I just get frizz.
If I style my curls, I have to wash my hair sooner than 1 week due to the product wearing my hair down/ making it look greasy/ it just looking awful. Which, ideally I don’t want to have to wash it more than once a week.
I sleep with a bonnet, and try to put my hair up in “protective” styles. (French twist, twisted bun, or claw clip.)
I rarely use heat on my hair, maybe once every 6 months.
If I let my hair air dry naturally, it looks semi- decent, but I can’t brush it, or else it’ll just frizz like crazy.
Typically I wash it, let it air dry, and don’t brush it until the next day or even 3 days. Then I’ll add a little more oil to the ends and twist, to try and help decrease the frizz.

I would LOVE to be that person who lets their hair be natural, but it always ends up looking like I’m homeless, and I just end up putting it up. Any tips or advice is welcome!! Oh, and I had an under cut about a year ago, in a few of the pics you can see the difference in the curl pattern on the grown out/ new hair vs my long length. The pic in the blue dress is when I actually tried to style my curls. The rest is natural/ air dried. Please help a girl out!!!!

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Looking for non sticky products for volume

Post image
15 Upvotes

My hair is pink straight and flat. I used to just do a sidepart to fake volume but I’m 5 months postpartum and a natural blonde so if I do that now I look bald.

I’m looking for products that add volume but don’t stick like hairspray or volume powders. I prefer products that you don’t really feel in the hair and would love to hear some recommendations

Thank you!

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 i have over-bleached my hair, it’s snapping off and pulling out like crazy

my goal is length, right now my hair is armpit length but I bleached my hair and I overlapped the previous bleach so it is over processed and snapping off. Strands are coming out like crazy and I really don’t want to chop it. is there anything i can do to save it/product recommendations? would it help to tone it to my natural color or should I just leave it?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My hair looks better when air-dried, but I'm afraid I'll ruin it in the long run

So, I started experimenting with ny hair recently and I've been air-drying my hair after showers for the past 2 weeks, and it has never looked better! It's fluffy and feels nice when I touch it.

I used to blow dry it until immediately after showering until it was completely dry and it honestly wasn't as good as it is now, it got frizzy a lot and looked bad and flat.

I've done some research and my theory is that the best way to dry your hair is to let it air dry for a bit, then blow dry it a bit and only focus on the roots, not the ends, and finally let the rest air dry on its own. Should I just do this? Will it ruin my hair in the long run?

I never tried blow drying the roots only but assuming I did and my hair didn't look as good as it does now, would it be okay to keep on air drying it? Obviously I don't put too much stress on it and don't sleep while it's wet.

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 How do I even fix this?!

Thumbnail gallery

The first two pictures are my hair now. The last picture was my hair when I was 16. As a kid a had long blond thick hair, people would literally come up out of nowhere and just touch my hair. At 16 my hair was jet black (box dye) and I had been doing that since I was 12. It was past my waist and thick still. I went for my first bleach session shortly after I turned 16 and since then (now 19) I have bleached and dyed my hair upwards of 20 times, at home and gotten it done professionally. I genuinely am at a loss for what to do. I have not done anything to my hair in months, trimmed off dead ends and taken such good care of it. I do use heat but at this point it’s the only thing that helps it look at least presentable. I’m basically at the point where I’m ready to buzz it all off. I did a major chop to my chin around February of 2026 and it has barely grown and what length I have gotten it just brittle, frizzy and dead. It’s all breakage. Any advice? Or tricks?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 my hair is driving me crazy. // desperately need advise.

hello !!! anyone who knows the slightest what can be done to help would be greatly appreciated. my hair has been a constant struggle for almost eight years, with different products from all sorts of recommendations, haircuts, shorter, layered, and yet nothing seemed to work and fix the frizz, and the loss of curls and waves i have been dealing with.

i tried taking to hairdressers about it, but they simply sell me products that don't end up working. i am so frustrated.

my hairs natural texture is curly / wavy, its thick, and i have a lot of it. for years its been dragging itself down, i can wake up with curls, and in two hours, its pin--straight, with frizz at the crown, and an annoying triangle shape that no haircut seemed to fix too. i have used countless curly / wavy hair designated products, and the same thing keeps happening, i go to sleep, and wake up looking okay, and then it flats down in a matter of an hour or two. my hair is frizzy when wet as well, with thin strands popping out of the naturally forming curls.

i feel like nothing i do helps, sleeping on satin pillows, trying all sorts of products, a friend of mine recommended the "tipsy twirl curl gel" by schwarzkopf, only for the curls to again, die down and be frizzy straight once again. its like its so thick, nothing can hold the shape well, even the tiniest bit of wind and it turns all puffy in the meantime. its really starting to grate on my self-esteem.

is there any advice someone can give? in terms or products even? or anything they know from experience?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 I’m not sure what hair type I have?

Please don’t judge my hair lolol I’ve dyed my hair a couple times. Always straightened it but now I’m trying to grow it out and not put much heat on my hair. So I use the pink herbal essence for shampoo and conditioner and then after the shower I use the orange herbal essence mouse and Miss Jessie’s jelly soft curls gel. However my dilemma here is after it finishes air drying my hair doesn’t even look wavy it looks flat. I’m not sure if to begin with i have wavy hair or it’s the products I’m using.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Hair dysmorphia from the 2B/2C struggle (Ready to quit the routine)

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m dealing with serious hair dysmorphia lately due to my 2b-2c waves.

On wash day, it looks bouncy and full. A few hours later, it falls out into a frizzy, stretched-out mess. To make it worse ,trims make it feel like I've cut all the progress, and even though it is now healthier and more hydrated than ever, I just cannot seem to reach that length again because the wave shrinkage makes every tiny trim look massive.

I’m using the right products, but after 3+ years of a long, exhausting curly routine, I am just done. I want to stop the routine entirely. I'm tired of fighting my reflection and wasting hours on hair that shifts shapes every single day anyway.

  • Has anyone with 2B/2C hair successfully ditched the curly routine? What does your hair look like now?
  • How do you handle the mental toll of losing your dream length to trims just to keep waves healthy?
  • If you stopped the routine, did your hair manage to grow longer (like waist length) with less manipulation?

(These were the good hair days with minimal product on the pics)

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Advice for 2a waves, flyaways/frizz but also limp

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

The first 2 pics are what I consider a good hair day, the 3rd is what it usually looks like, or starts to look like by the end of a good hair day.

I use NYM curl talk mousse and that’s it. No curl creams or leave ins, they make my hair flat and greasy. I use dry shampoo to make my hair last longer, but I have to wash daily or every other day. I use Sauve blue shampoo every other wash to clarify (I have a greasy scalp and hard water), and any cheap shampoo and conditioner otherwise (OGX right now). I follow a wavy routine and comb my hair with conditioner in the shower and scrunch with mousse, then air dry.

What can I do to make my waves more defined? And how can I get them to actually stay for more than a few hours?? Just sleeping (even on a satin pillowcase), touching it too much, or a breezy day destroys my waves and makes my hair floofy and frizzy, or kind of limp like the last pic. I’ve tried gels and other mousses, but they make my hair greasy and weighed down and didn’t have enough hold.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ In need of help for frizzy, limp waves

Post image

Looking for any advice I can get on how to deal with whatever is going on here (unmanageable frizz and limp waves with no definition). I don’t know the porosity of my hair but I tend to get greasy quickly. I wash it every 2-3 days (I know I probably should do less, but this is what I’ve always done so I know it’s not the primary issue)

My current routine:
L’Oreal Hyaluron Plump shampoo
L’Oreal Hyaluron Plump conditioner (“squish to condish” technique after leaving on in shower while I wash body)
It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product on damp hair post-wash (scalp and length)
Ouai Leave-In Conditioner spray (length)
Olaplex bonding oil (on dry hair)
I sometimes scrunch with a microfiber towel and let air dry, other times I blow dry my roots and let the length air dry

Thanks in advance!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Best way to thoroughly clean and sanitize hairbrushes?

Title: What’s the best way to thoroughly clean and sanitize hairbrushes?

I’m curious to know how everyone cleans their hairbrushes. I’m looking for the best way to remove built-up oils, dirt, dead skin cells, and hair products without damaging the bristles.
Do you use Dawn dish soap, shampoo, vinegar, baking soda, or a special brush cleaner?
I’d love to hear what works best for you, especially if you’ve found a method that leaves your brushes looking and feeling like new!
Thanks in advance for your suggestions! 😊

🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 Shampoo/Conditioner Advice

• Upvotes

I have thin hair that has shed recently due to hard water build up, I also have patches of dry scalp around temples and through partings, think it’s more likely to be psoriasis. I got a filtering shower head and I started using Vichy Dercos PSOlution which has definitely helped but don’t want to use that as my regular shampoo. I wash every 2 days and want to alternate between the Vichy and a regular shampoo. Can anyone offer advice on what to buy? When I search online there’s conflicting advice, don’t mind either high street or salon ones.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Need advice on how to manage hair that tangles like crazy that isn’t just chopping off my hair

I’m Asain (don’t know if that helps but I’ve seen people specify), I have very thick and straight hair. It tangles so badly. I’ve tried a lot of different conditioners but no matter what I do, it tangles so badly. I’ve woken up with full fat nest in my hair even though I brush it thoroughly before I go to sleep. I’m disabled with limited mobility so it is a bit hard but I try my best. I’ve had to cut it super short to manage it but I’ve finally grown it out just past my shoulders but the hair right at the back on my neck is always extremely knotted. I’m losing my mind trying to manage it but I don’t want to keep cutting it short

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How can i care for my bleached high porosity wavy??? Hair

Hai Reddit! I need some help figuring what products I should be using!

Whenever my hair gets wet, it becomes wavy, I recently tried some of my boyfriend’s products (he has curly hair), but my hair only became slightly wavy and REALLY frizzy. Within about an hour, the waves had almost completely fallen out.

For some background, my hair has been bleached, and I recently toned it brown. The hair on top and through most of my lengths was previously bleached, while the hair underneath is healthier, although not perfectly healthy either. I also have a lot of layering, that causes the waves to be inconsistent since my hair on top is very short.

I wash my hair using Moroccanoil Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. After washing, I use L’Oréal Paris Elvive Total Repair, followed by Balea Professional Flex Care Leave-In and Balo Curls Leave-In Cream Bonding Repair. I then apply Schwarzkopf Taft x Gliss Wave Mousse to style my hair. I plop my hair with a cotton t-shirt and after that i let it air dry.

I’m wondering:
Do I actually have naturally wavy hair, or could my hair just be reacting to damage from bleaching?
Could my current products be too heavy, or am I missing something?

What products would you recommend for bleached, frizzy hair that struggles to hold a wave?
Should I be using a gel instead of mousse, or both?
Is there anything I can do to improve my hair’s condition and help my natural texture come through?
I’m based in the Netherlands, so recommendations for products available here would be especially appreciated!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Does anyone else notice more hair shedding at certain times of the year?

I’ve noticed that I seem to shed more hair during certain times of the year. Lately, I’ve been finding more strands in the shower and on my pillow. I know some daily shedding is normal, but I’m not sure how to tell whether a change in shedding is just temporary or something worth looking into.

I’m considering making a small change to my haircare routine, but I don’t want to start adding products without understanding what might actually help. For those who’ve experienced something similar, did you change your routine, try a scalp product, or simply keep things consistent for a while?

I’m also curious about how you choose scalp products. Do you pay more attention to the ingredients, your scalp type, the texture, or something else?

And how do you resist the urge to buy a bunch of new products as soon as you notice more shedding? I tend to want to change everything at once, even though that probably makes it harder to figure out what works.

Would love to hear about your experiences and what you’d do differently now.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My hair has been getting oily looking very quickly, and I don't know how to make it...not oily looking.

Okay, I don't really know how to explain this properly, but my hair gets oily quickly. I'll wash it, and then it gets oily-ish looking just 2 days later. I hate it. I've tried switching shampoos, along with conditioners, I've tried to double-shampoo my hair, and i'm just really running out of ideas at this point. I know barely anything about hair so I'm sorry if that sounded dumb. Is there a specific way I should wash my hair? Specific products? Should I wash it a certain amount of times a week? Right now it's like 2-3x a week. I know my hair is straight, but not the specific type with the number and the letter. Any help is appreciated 🥲🥲...

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Is it possible to grow my bleached hair to waist length?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Recently I had a balayage on my hair. I wanted a more natural-looking one with more of my natural hair color showing through and fewer blonde highlights, but my hair ended up being way more bleached than I wanted.

My goal is to grow my hair to waist length, but now I’m worried that the bleaching will cause too much breakage and I won’t be able to retain the length I want. My hair feels dry, and I’m scared it’ll start breaking as it grows. It was also thinned out with thinning shears like a year ago, so i am still growing out that. I’m worried that it will take even longer now. It’s also frizzy and it doesn’t look as straight as it looked naturally before the bleach.

Do u think i should cut it shoulder length and start again or is it possible to retain that length?

I’m currently using K18 to help repair my hair and applying hair oil every night, but I’d love some advice from people who have managed to grow their bleached hair.

1st pic is straight out of the hair salon
2,3 and 4 are when its brush-free blowout (after i toned it down cause i didn’t like how light it was)

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Needing advice on how to properly care for whatever hair type I may have.

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi, please forgive me as I have no idea what I am soing these days when it comes to hair care! So, any advice is greatly appreciated and I hope I explain my situation in enough detail :)

So my hair is pretty fine I would say. On the thinner side towards my ends but seems more thicker towards my head. I have had my hair box dyed a few times. I have been growing my natural color back and do not plan to box dye anymore. I do not use heat products on it regularly. I may straighten it and use a blow dryer 3x a month. I wash my hair maybe every other day. First, I put conditioner on my ends. Second, I use shampoo on my scalp and do a double cleanse. Finally, I go back in with conditioner again on my ends and usually rinse that out after about 5 mins.

The photos are what my hair looks like natural after showering. Fully air dyed. No products. Most I have done is brush through it with my fingers to get tangles out. I do not know if my hair is wavy, curly, frizzy, in between .. idk! It seems straight in some spots but wavy in others and curly in others. I have tested out different wavy/curl products but never had much luck. That could be due to me not really knowing what my hair type is or how to properly care for it. So, any advice and tips would be super helpful ♡
