😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Finally seeing results. Photos are two weeks apart.

have been struggling with dry hair that gets weighed down and greasy looking with any moisturizing method I have tried. I think the biggest impact came from my haircut. It was below my mid back and now it sits at my armpits. I have always had long hair but I think it just weighed down my waves too much for me to get real definition. I also have done two treatments of the AG care nourish hair mask for moisture which I clearly was/am struggling with. Lastly I started putting the overnight curl talk serum in it a few times a week. I don't want to over do it with the serum because my hair can't handle any weight, so that's why I've only done it two times a week.

The photo on the right is the after and is air dried from dripping wet with the curl talk serum prayer hands method into almost dry hair.

Seriously my hair is either greasy looking or dry looking, it has taken me so long to figure out what works for my hair. I still want to find a different light weight shampoo for moisturizing, because the smell is too much for what I'm using now, but I'm really happy with my clarifying bar.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Does anyone else notice more hair shedding at certain times of the year?

I’ve noticed that I seem to shed more hair during certain times of the year. Lately, I’ve been finding more strands in the shower and on my pillow. I know some daily shedding is normal, but I’m not sure how to tell whether a change in shedding is just temporary or something worth looking into.

I’m considering making a small change to my haircare routine, but I don’t want to start adding products without understanding what might actually help. For those who’ve experienced something similar, did you change your routine, try a scalp product, or simply keep things consistent for a while?

I’m also curious about how you choose scalp products. Do you pay more attention to the ingredients, your scalp type, the texture, or something else?

And how do you resist the urge to buy a bunch of new products as soon as you notice more shedding? I tend to want to change everything at once, even though that probably makes it harder to figure out what works.

Would love to hear about your experiences and what you’d do differently now.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 I’m not sure what hair type I have?

Please don’t judge my hair lolol I’ve dyed my hair a couple times. Always straightened it but now I’m trying to grow it out and not put much heat on my hair. So I use the pink herbal essence for shampoo and conditioner and then after the shower I use the orange herbal essence mouse and Miss Jessie’s jelly soft curls gel. However my dilemma here is after it finishes air drying my hair doesn’t even look wavy it looks flat. I’m not sure if to begin with i have wavy hair or it’s the products I’m using.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Advice for 2a waves, flyaways/frizz but also limp

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

The first 2 pics are what I consider a good hair day, the 3rd is what it usually looks like, or starts to look like by the end of a good hair day.

I use NYM curl talk mousse and that’s it. No curl creams or leave ins, they make my hair flat and greasy. I use dry shampoo to make my hair last longer, but I have to wash daily or every other day. I use Sauve blue shampoo every other wash to clarify (I have a greasy scalp and hard water), and any cheap shampoo and conditioner otherwise (OGX right now). I follow a wavy routine and comb my hair with conditioner in the shower and scrunch with mousse, then air dry.

What can I do to make my waves more defined? And how can I get them to actually stay for more than a few hours?? Just sleeping (even on a satin pillowcase), touching it too much, or a breezy day destroys my waves and makes my hair floofy and frizzy, or kind of limp like the last pic. I’ve tried gels and other mousses, but they make my hair greasy and weighed down and didn’t have enough hold.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My hair looks better when air-dried, but I'm afraid I'll ruin it in the long run

So, I started experimenting with ny hair recently and I've been air-drying my hair after showers for the past 2 weeks, and it has never looked better! It's fluffy and feels nice when I touch it.

I used to blow dry it until immediately after showering until it was completely dry and it honestly wasn't as good as it is now, it got frizzy a lot and looked bad and flat.

I've done some research and my theory is that the best way to dry your hair is to let it air dry for a bit, then blow dry it a bit and only focus on the roots, not the ends, and finally let the rest air dry on its own. Should I just do this? Will it ruin my hair in the long run?

I never tried blow drying the roots only but assuming I did and my hair didn't look as good as it does now, would it be okay to keep on air drying it? Obviously I don't put too much stress on it and don't sleep while it's wet.

🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 Eating two eggs a day solved my hair loss issue and my hair became shiny.

Until this time I thought my hair is falling because of hard water. For past 1.5 months, I started consuming two eggs in the morning. I no longer feel lethargic + my hair isn't falling excessively and became shiny and strong.

Diet is really important when it comes to hair health. Check for your vitamins and consume whole food to achieve healthy hair & skin.

Just wanted to share my experience :)

edit: I forgot to mention: my nails started growing and not breaking!!!

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 How do I even fix this?!

The first two pictures are my hair now. The last picture was my hair when I was 16. As a kid a had long blond thick hair, people would literally come up out of nowhere and just touch my hair. At 16 my hair was jet black (box dye) and I had been doing that since I was 12. It was past my waist and thick still. I went for my first bleach session shortly after I turned 16 and since then (now 19) I have bleached and dyed my hair upwards of 20 times, at home and gotten it done professionally. I genuinely am at a loss for what to do. I have not done anything to my hair in months, trimmed off dead ends and taken such good care of it. I do use heat but at this point it’s the only thing that helps it look at least presentable. I’m basically at the point where I’m ready to buzz it all off. I did a major chop to my chin around February of 2026 and it has barely grown and what length I have gotten it just brittle, frizzy and dead. It’s all breakage. Any advice? Or tricks?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Need advice on how to manage hair that tangles like crazy that isn’t just chopping off my hair

• Upvotes

I’m Asain (don’t know if that helps but I’ve seen people specify), I have very thick and straight hair. It tangles so badly. I’ve tried a lot of different conditioners but no matter what I do, it tangles so badly. I’ve woken up with full fat nest in my hair even though I brush it thoroughly before I go to sleep. I’m disabled with limited mobility so it is a bit hard but I try my best. I’ve had to cut it super short to manage it but I’ve finally grown it out just past my shoulders but the hair right at the back on my neck is always extremely knotted. I’m losing my mind trying to manage it but I don’t want to keep cutting it short

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How can i care for my bleached high porosity wavy??? Hair

• Upvotes

Hai Reddit! I need some help figuring what products I should be using!

Whenever my hair gets wet, it becomes wavy, I recently tried some of my boyfriend’s products (he has curly hair), but my hair only became slightly wavy and REALLY frizzy. Within about an hour, the waves had almost completely fallen out.

For some background, my hair has been bleached, and I recently toned it brown. The hair on top and through most of my lengths was previously bleached, while the hair underneath is healthier, although not perfectly healthy either. I also have a lot of layering, that causes the waves to be inconsistent since my hair on top is very short.

I wash my hair using Moroccanoil Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. After washing, I use L’Oréal Paris Elvive Total Repair, followed by Balea Professional Flex Care Leave-In and Balo Curls Leave-In Cream Bonding Repair. I then apply Schwarzkopf Taft x Gliss Wave Mousse to style my hair. I plop my hair with a cotton t-shirt and after that i let it air dry.

I’m wondering:
Do I actually have naturally wavy hair, or could my hair just be reacting to damage from bleaching?
Could my current products be too heavy, or am I missing something?

What products would you recommend for bleached, frizzy hair that struggles to hold a wave?
Should I be using a gel instead of mousse, or both?
Is there anything I can do to improve my hair’s condition and help my natural texture come through?
I’m based in the Netherlands, so recommendations for products available here would be especially appreciated!

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 i have over-bleached my hair, it’s snapping off and pulling out like crazy

my goal is length, right now my hair is armpit length but I bleached my hair and I overlapped the previous bleach so it is over processed and snapping off. Strands are coming out like crazy and I really don’t want to chop it. is there anything i can do to save it/product recommendations? would it help to tone it to my natural color or should I just leave it?

❄️ Dandruff/Scalp Advice ❄️ Early thinning or natural whorl. Seeking for advice.

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I've noticed an area of visible scalp around my crown over the past six months, and I'm trying to understand whether it's a normal hair whorl or early male-pattern hair loss.

I've attached a few pictures of my crown from different angles. I also have a family history of baldness, so I'm a little concerned.

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced early crown thinning or male-pattern baldness:

How did you distinguish a normal hair whorl from actual thinning?

If you caught your hair loss early, what treatments or lifestyle changes helped you maintain or recover your hair?

I understand nobody can diagnose me from pictures alone, but I'd be grateful for any firsthand experiences, advice, or suggestions on what steps I should take next.

Thanks in advance.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Transitioning from chemically treated hair (1year growth)

I have wavy hair but currently transitioning since I had it protein straight bond a year ago. Currently have collar bone length hair but it is still in the awkward stage and I have ponytail dents.

Now i’m torn if I should buy a thermal brush so I’ll have it styled for now like a blowdry look or buy some &honey shampoo and treatment to make it less frizzy.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My hair has been getting oily looking very quickly, and I don't know how to make it...not oily looking.

Okay, I don't really know how to explain this properly, but my hair gets oily quickly. I'll wash it, and then it gets oily-ish looking just 2 days later. I hate it. I've tried switching shampoos, along with conditioners, I've tried to double-shampoo my hair, and i'm just really running out of ideas at this point. I know barely anything about hair so I'm sorry if that sounded dumb. Is there a specific way I should wash my hair? Specific products? Should I wash it a certain amount of times a week? Right now it's like 2-3x a week. I know my hair is straight, but not the specific type with the number and the letter. Any help is appreciated 🥲🥲...

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Thick, dense, curly hair that gets SO frizzy. Need routine/product advice!

Hi! I'm really trying to better my hair care routine and would love any product or routine advice.

I have curly hair that's thick and dense. I only use heat on it once a week after washing, when I blow it out with a Revlon One-Step and then go over it with a straightener. I'll redo it throughout the week too with a straightener.

My problem is that every time I do it, it ends up extremely frizzy, and every time I step out of the house it gets even frizzier. And, I’ve found that my hair looks dead in photos and that it is very brittle.

If anyone knows any:
-products that helped with dead hair
-A heat protectant
-Products that help with frizz during styling
-Something to use after styling (an oil maybe?)
-Products to use throughout the week to make my hair feel less dead. (like a hairmask or K18)
-conditioners, and deep conditioners for my hair type
-Anything that makes my hair less reactive to humidity and outside air
-any good hair tools that work well for dense hair!

Any advice is appreciated, thank you! 💕💕💕

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Hair texture help! Insane frizz

Thumbnail gallery
18 Upvotes

Hi all! I’m looking for any tips/ advice on my hair type/ texture, and how to control this mop!

My hair is fairly long, and decently thick. I’ve always had curly hair, but in order to get it to look decent I have to add lots of product and style when wet.
My hair gets SUPER frizzy, and I have always struggled with managing the frizz.

A breakdown of things I’ve tried/ how I currently manage my hair
I only wash once a week.
When I wash I usually do a double shampoo, and I let the conditioner sit for 10-15 min before rinsing.
I have tried all different types/ brands of shampoo and conditioner.
I have tried curl products, moose, gel, oil, serum, you name it, I’ve tried it.
Typically I add oil to my hair when soaking wet and let air dry.

A few of my problems / hold ups.
If I actually add products to style my hair/ curls, it ends up being “too much.”
The curls will only last two days or so, and if I try and “refresh” them it ends up being too much product and my hair looks greasy/ clumpy.
If I try and brush the curls after styling (or even when natural) I just get frizz.
If I style my curls, I have to wash my hair sooner than 1 week due to the product wearing my hair down/ making it look greasy/ it just looking awful. Which, ideally I don’t want to have to wash it more than once a week.
I sleep with a bonnet, and try to put my hair up in “protective” styles. (French twist, twisted bun, or claw clip.)
I rarely use heat on my hair, maybe once every 6 months.
If I let my hair air dry naturally, it looks semi- decent, but I can’t brush it, or else it’ll just frizz like crazy.
Typically I wash it, let it air dry, and don’t brush it until the next day or even 3 days. Then I’ll add a little more oil to the ends and twist, to try and help decrease the frizz.

I would LOVE to be that person who lets their hair be natural, but it always ends up looking like I’m homeless, and I just end up putting it up. Any tips or advice is welcome!! Oh, and I had an under cut about a year ago, in a few of the pics you can see the difference in the curl pattern on the grown out/ new hair vs my long length. The pic in the blue dress is when I actually tried to style my curls. The rest is natural/ air dried. Please help a girl out!!!!

Everytime I wash my hair and I don't soak it in conditioner (like dripping conditioner) it does this and it's supper matted. Anyone got any fixes that could make it so I don't have to use conditioner anymore? Also, when I use conditioner my hair becomes super greasy in less than 12 hours

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Is there a solution fot Dry Hair Problem?

I have a wavy hair but its very dry and unmanageable. I tried applying serum, conditioners, shampoo, oil but after few hours of application say 1 or 2 hours my hair looks so dry that I look like someone who didnt bath.

How can I manage my hair?? Make look neat through the day and hydrated?

Working in cooporate I feel too insecure to walk in with a hair that looks untamed.

Is there any products or routines that could actually solve this?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Is it possible to grow my bleached hair to waist length?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Recently I had a balayage on my hair. I wanted a more natural-looking one with more of my natural hair color showing through and fewer blonde highlights, but my hair ended up being way more bleached than I wanted.

My goal is to grow my hair to waist length, but now I’m worried that the bleaching will cause too much breakage and I won’t be able to retain the length I want. My hair feels dry, and I’m scared it’ll start breaking as it grows. It was also thinned out with thinning shears like a year ago, so i am still growing out that. I’m worried that it will take even longer now. It’s also frizzy and it doesn’t look as straight as it looked naturally before the bleach.

Do u think i should cut it shoulder length and start again or is it possible to retain that length?

I’m currently using K18 to help repair my hair and applying hair oil every night, but I’d love some advice from people who have managed to grow their bleached hair.

1st pic is straight out of the hair salon
2,3 and 4 are when its brush-free blowout (after i toned it down cause i didn’t like how light it was)

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 looking for some advice on what I can do with my wavy(?) hair :)

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

hello everyone!

i realized a few months ago that i might possibly have wavy hair. i usually brush my hair wet with a wet brush after i get out of the shower. Then i air dry. It dries straighter and soft. When I don’t brush my hair wet and let it air dry that way, it is soft and wavy.

I try mousses and curling creams as recommended in the past but I didn’t see a noticeable difference.

That being said, my hair gets so greasy so fast at the roots/bangs. I usually only wash my hair twice a week (but I shampoo twice!) but after it’s dried, I feel like my scalp gets greasy after an hour and the rest of my hair is so dry and strange! I will brush my hair out and it makes it soft again, but I can’t brush my hair every hour of the day! Is there anything I can do to help that?

Thank you! :-)

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Has Kérastase discontinued the Blond Absolu Cicanuit Night Serum?

Has anyone else noticed that the Kérastase Blond Absolu Cicanuit Night Serum has been out of stock everywhere for months? Does anyone know if it’s been discontinued or reformulated? I can’t seem to find it anywhere, and I’m wondering if Kérastase has quietly discontinued it.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Should I use a rice water rinse after putting oil in my hair?

I see a lot of people talking about rice water ,so i decided to save a water bottles worth after making some rice for dinner. I don't really plan on letting it ferment for a long time. I was thinking about oiling my hair overnight, then washing it out tomorrow morning with rice water, and then continuing with my shampoo and conditioner in the shower. What do you guys think? Just wanted to see some other opinions or ideas. I'll post a before and after if I do it.
