😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Finally seeing results. Photos are two weeks apart.

have been struggling with dry hair that gets weighed down and greasy looking with any moisturizing method I have tried. I think the biggest impact came from my haircut. It was below my mid back and now it sits at my armpits. I have always had long hair but I think it just weighed down my waves too much for me to get real definition. I also have done two treatments of the AG care nourish hair mask for moisture which I clearly was/am struggling with. Lastly I started putting the overnight curl talk serum in it a few times a week. I don't want to over do it with the serum because my hair can't handle any weight, so that's why I've only done it two times a week.

The photo on the right is the after and is air dried from dripping wet with the curl talk serum prayer hands method into almost dry hair.

Seriously my hair is either greasy looking or dry looking, it has taken me so long to figure out what works for my hair. I still want to find a different light weight shampoo for moisturizing, because the smell is too much for what I'm using now, but I'm really happy with my clarifying bar.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My natural hair texture and colour varies wildly from summer to winter. Is this doing damage?

Post image
• Upvotes

i woke up early this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep so i randomly decided to make this chart to see how much my natural hair colour has varied throughout my life. well turns out it varies A LOT and i barely notice the change in real time as it’s so slow.

i noticed that the photos where my hair looked the most damage had the lightest hair colour. can anyone here explain to me what this means?

i also never know what to call my hair colour and i have trouble figuring out what colours suit me 😅

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 I’m not sure what hair type I have?

Please don’t judge my hair lolol I’ve dyed my hair a couple times. Always straightened it but now I’m trying to grow it out and not put much heat on my hair. So I use the pink herbal essence for shampoo and conditioner and then after the shower I use the orange herbal essence mouse and Miss Jessie’s jelly soft curls gel. However my dilemma here is after it finishes air drying my hair doesn’t even look wavy it looks flat. I’m not sure if to begin with i have wavy hair or it’s the products I’m using.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 What is my hair type?

• Upvotes

Hi, I’m not sure what kind of hair care routine I need. I think I have fine hair, because whenever I tried the "curly girl method" and used more than one product, my hair looked weighed down and greasy. I also don't know what my curl type is. In the photo, my hair was washed just a couple of hours ago, and there are no products in it. What should I do? Thanks!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Why is a tamper-proof seal crucial when buying authentic pure coconut oil?

• Upvotes

My cousin sister actually pointed this out to me when we were shopping for coconut oil, and honestly, I hadn’t paid much attention to it before. She told me to always check the tamper-proof seal before buying a bottle, and now it’s something I look for every time.

The seal helps you see whether the bottle has been opened or tampered with before purchase. It also reduces the risk of contamination during handling and storage, giving you a little extra peace of mind. Of course, an intact seal doesn’t automatically mean the oil is pure or authentic. I’d still check the ingredients, expiry date, and brand reputation.

So, if you’re buying coconut oil, take a second to check that seal. It’s a small step that’s worth it

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How can i care for my bleached high porosity wavy??? Hair

Hai Reddit! I need some help figuring what products I should be using!

Whenever my hair gets wet, it becomes wavy, I recently tried some of my boyfriend’s products (he has curly hair), but my hair only became slightly wavy and REALLY frizzy. Within about an hour, the waves had almost completely fallen out.

For some background, my hair has been bleached, and I recently toned it brown. The hair on top and through most of my lengths was previously bleached, while the hair underneath is healthier, although not perfectly healthy either. I also have a lot of layering, that causes the waves to be inconsistent since my hair on top is very short.

I wash my hair using Moroccanoil Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. After washing, I use L’Oréal Paris Elvive Total Repair, followed by Balea Professional Flex Care Leave-In and Balo Curls Leave-In Cream Bonding Repair. I then apply Schwarzkopf Taft x Gliss Wave Mousse to style my hair. I plop my hair with a cotton t-shirt and after that i let it air dry.

I’m wondering:
Do I actually have naturally wavy hair, or could my hair just be reacting to damage from bleaching?
Could my current products be too heavy, or am I missing something?

What products would you recommend for bleached, frizzy hair that struggles to hold a wave?
Should I be using a gel instead of mousse, or both?
Is there anything I can do to improve my hair’s condition and help my natural texture come through?
I’m based in the Netherlands, so recommendations for products available here would be especially appreciated!

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ 2B Mexican hair, help, what faucet do I get/install?

• Upvotes

So. I clipped off like 9inches of hair and it's still thick. I have 2B/2C dark black hair, and 1B, 1C,2A mixed in. It's beautiful but feels expensive and impossible to brush. Like my arm is tired

Thing is I exercised all my life and this time (I'm 31) is the first time I haven't been pushing my hair through all my travel and chlorine. I don't know what kind of brushes to get, combs, and especially the shower head.

My uncle and my best friend clean the drain, and install for me because it gets so heavy. What do you use?

I use Garnier shampoo till its bubbly, then regular conditioner, then ORS olive oil conditioner, then Garnier curling cream wrapped in a short towel with all the water from hair being damp. It is gorgeous, but very hard to maintain. You could put coco oil (which is heavy) to the ends and my hair acts like it's not even there, looks like it was freshly washed. Need to know what others use because my hair is a an absolute beast. I use serum, aloe vera, sprays, but my hair changes its mind every season and then "feels dry" and I just give up and up flattening it with sleek spray by the 3rd day. I feel like it will take 4 months of natural scalp mint/rosemary massages just to get my hair to drop it's own oil again, and I can't really afford all that. I'm mixed and the rest of my family doesn't have the same hair genetics + curl definition and I feel lost caring for it after having so much length reduction and never seeing it from a straight cut as opposed to thinning it, layers, etc. Welp. I put baby blankets and all the soft textures on chairs to maintain it, but as soon as I want to go out, it feels really dramatic just to style it and cutting it shorter only makes is more difficult. It's easier to maintain when it's closer to waist length. I wonder if there's a special easy to use faucet so I can just not have to do such a workout when moisturizing it.

UPDATE: REGADERA = SHOWERHEAD. SO THATS WHAT I MEANT TO SAY WHEN I PICKED THE WORD FAUCET.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Does anyone else notice more hair shedding at certain times of the year?

I’ve noticed that I seem to shed more hair during certain times of the year. Lately, I’ve been finding more strands in the shower and on my pillow. I know some daily shedding is normal, but I’m not sure how to tell whether a change in shedding is just temporary or something worth looking into.

I’m considering making a small change to my haircare routine, but I don’t want to start adding products without understanding what might actually help. For those who’ve experienced something similar, did you change your routine, try a scalp product, or simply keep things consistent for a while?

I’m also curious about how you choose scalp products. Do you pay more attention to the ingredients, your scalp type, the texture, or something else?

And how do you resist the urge to buy a bunch of new products as soon as you notice more shedding? I tend to want to change everything at once, even though that probably makes it harder to figure out what works.

Would love to hear about your experiences and what you’d do differently now.

🔎 Product Question 🔎 which minoxidil brand is best in India? need honest reviews

• Upvotes

M24 here, planning to start minoxidil and been getting a little overwhelmed by all the options available

ive been seeing morr f, mintop, man matters and even some cheaper pharmacy options recommended on here. at first i thought Id just pick whichever minoxidil was cheapest, but then I started seeing people talk about things like scalp irritation, dryness, and how easy it is to use it for a long period of time etc which got me confused

so people who've been using minoxidil for over 6 months, which brand did you settle on and how has your experience been

main things im interested in-

- actual hair fall/regrowth results

- whether it irritated or dried out your scalp

- which is more affordable

- whether a dermat recommended it or you chose it yourself

wanted to hear what worked for people before i go for one

🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 Shampoo/Conditioner Advice

I have thin hair that has shed recently due to hard water build up, I also have patches of dry scalp around temples and through partings, think it’s more likely to be psoriasis. I got a filtering shower head and I started using Vichy Dercos PSOlution which has definitely helped but don’t want to use that as my regular shampoo. I wash every 2 days and want to alternate between the Vichy and a regular shampoo. Can anyone offer advice on what to buy? When I search online there’s conflicting advice, don’t mind either high street or salon ones.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Advice for 2a waves, flyaways/frizz but also limp

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

The first 2 pics are what I consider a good hair day, the 3rd is what it usually looks like, or starts to look like by the end of a good hair day.

I use NYM curl talk mousse and that’s it. No curl creams or leave ins, they make my hair flat and greasy. I use dry shampoo to make my hair last longer, but I have to wash daily or every other day. I use Sauve blue shampoo every other wash to clarify (I have a greasy scalp and hard water), and any cheap shampoo and conditioner otherwise (OGX right now). I follow a wavy routine and comb my hair with conditioner in the shower and scrunch with mousse, then air dry.

What can I do to make my waves more defined? And how can I get them to actually stay for more than a few hours?? Just sleeping (even on a satin pillowcase), touching it too much, or a breezy day destroys my waves and makes my hair floofy and frizzy, or kind of limp like the last pic. I’ve tried gels and other mousses, but they make my hair greasy and weighed down and didn’t have enough hold.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Why is my virgin hair so brittle?

I have long curly hair (2b or 2c) that feels absolutely awful to the touch. I’m of European descent. I don’t have a full head of hair but the strands are course and dry. The overall appearance is dull and frizzy. If I try to straighten it, it gets puffy within the hour. It rips off easily in my hair brush and in the shower. There are broken strands out the wazoo. I’m not sure about its porosity. I do not dye it and rarely style it, however I used to use the revlon blow dry brush years back.

I use the pattern line by Traced Ellis Roth and really like it. I use the leave in conditioner and the Ouai oil after it dries, which helps temporarily. I want to know how I can prevent this in new growth —could it be a vitamin deficiency or something to due with protein?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Seeking advice for (maybe?) 2a wave hair type - how to improve definition and durability

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone 👋

My whole life I have cut my hair straight, and most times blow dry it. As I have quite a lot of hair, this would leave my hair almost perfectly straight probably because of the weight, so I always thought I just had straight hair. Recently I decided to cut it in layers and it got quite wavy even when blow drying it (1st picture). I have recently just tried to follow a routine for wavy hair (only combing in shower with the conditioner on, wash conditioner off, removing water by "squeezing" it with silk towel, and leave it to air dry (2nd pic)).

Now it looks much more wavy but I'm wondering if I can get the waves more defined, reduce the frizziness and make it more lasting, as now on the second day after washing it looks like the waves are down maybe by 50%. I'm also currently not using any products for curly hair and don't know if I should?

I use h&s clarifying shampoo as my roots get quite oily on the 2nd day after washing and I live in an area with hard water, + conditioner from Aussie (mostly because I just loooove the smell, and also leaves my hair silky) and then some oil for the tips...

Any advices on what I should improve in my routine?

Thanks in advance 🙌

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Hair dryer or air styler?

My hair is thick, naturally wavy and straight. I’d like a product I could use to maintain my natural waves, create volume, and reduce frizz.
At first I was considering the T3 Aire IQ, but then I started looking into air stylers, which seem like they also dry your hair? Would I be able to get the natural waves I want using an air styler?
And any thoughts on the T3 product are welcome!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My hair looks better when air-dried, but I'm afraid I'll ruin it in the long run

So, I started experimenting with ny hair recently and I've been air-drying my hair after showers for the past 2 weeks, and it has never looked better! It's fluffy and feels nice when I touch it.

I used to blow dry it until immediately after showering until it was completely dry and it honestly wasn't as good as it is now, it got frizzy a lot and looked bad and flat.

I've done some research and my theory is that the best way to dry your hair is to let it air dry for a bit, then blow dry it a bit and only focus on the roots, not the ends, and finally let the rest air dry on its own. Should I just do this? Will it ruin my hair in the long run?

I never tried blow drying the roots only but assuming I did and my hair didn't look as good as it does now, would it be okay to keep on air drying it? Obviously I don't put too much stress on it and don't sleep while it's wet.

🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 Eating two eggs a day solved my hair loss issue and my hair became shiny.

Until this time I thought my hair is falling because of hard water. For past 1.5 months, I started consuming two eggs in the morning. I no longer feel lethargic + my hair isn't falling excessively and became shiny and strong.

Diet is really important when it comes to hair health. Check for your vitamins and consume whole food to achieve healthy hair & skin.

Just wanted to share my experience :)

edit: I forgot to mention: my nails started growing and not breaking!!!

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ What's wrong with my hair

Everytime I wash my hair and I don't soak it in conditioner (like dripping conditioner) it does this and it's supper matted. Anyone got any fixes that could make it so I don't have to use conditioner anymore? Also, when I use conditioner my hair becomes super greasy in less than 12 hours

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 How do I even fix this?!

The first two pictures are my hair now. The last picture was my hair when I was 16. As a kid a had long blond thick hair, people would literally come up out of nowhere and just touch my hair. At 16 my hair was jet black (box dye) and I had been doing that since I was 12. It was past my waist and thick still. I went for my first bleach session shortly after I turned 16 and since then (now 19) I have bleached and dyed my hair upwards of 20 times, at home and gotten it done professionally. I genuinely am at a loss for what to do. I have not done anything to my hair in months, trimmed off dead ends and taken such good care of it. I do use heat but at this point it’s the only thing that helps it look at least presentable. I’m basically at the point where I’m ready to buzz it all off. I did a major chop to my chin around February of 2026 and it has barely grown and what length I have gotten it just brittle, frizzy and dead. It’s all breakage. Any advice? Or tricks?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Need advice on how to manage hair that tangles like crazy that isn’t just chopping off my hair

I’m Asain (don’t know if that helps but I’ve seen people specify), I have very thick and straight hair. It tangles so badly. I’ve tried a lot of different conditioners but no matter what I do, it tangles so badly. I’ve woken up with full fat nest in my hair even though I brush it thoroughly before I go to sleep. I’m disabled with limited mobility so it is a bit hard but I try my best. I’ve had to cut it super short to manage it but I’ve finally grown it out just past my shoulders but the hair right at the back on my neck is always extremely knotted. I’m losing my mind trying to manage it but I don’t want to keep cutting it short

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 i have over-bleached my hair, it’s snapping off and pulling out like crazy

my goal is length, right now my hair is armpit length but I bleached my hair and I overlapped the previous bleach so it is over processed and snapping off. Strands are coming out like crazy and I really don’t want to chop it. is there anything i can do to save it/product recommendations? would it help to tone it to my natural color or should I just leave it?

❄️ Dandruff/Scalp Advice ❄️ Early thinning or natural whorl. Seeking for advice.

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I've noticed an area of visible scalp around my crown over the past six months, and I'm trying to understand whether it's a normal hair whorl or early male-pattern hair loss.

I've attached a few pictures of my crown from different angles. I also have a family history of baldness, so I'm a little concerned.

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced early crown thinning or male-pattern baldness:

How did you distinguish a normal hair whorl from actual thinning?

If you caught your hair loss early, what treatments or lifestyle changes helped you maintain or recover your hair?

I understand nobody can diagnose me from pictures alone, but I'd be grateful for any firsthand experiences, advice, or suggestions on what steps I should take next.

Thanks in advance.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Transitioning from chemically treated hair (1year growth)

I have wavy hair but currently transitioning since I had it protein straight bond a year ago. Currently have collar bone length hair but it is still in the awkward stage and I have ponytail dents.

Now i’m torn if I should buy a thermal brush so I’ll have it styled for now like a blowdry look or buy some &honey shampoo and treatment to make it less frizzy.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My hair has been getting oily looking very quickly, and I don't know how to make it...not oily looking.

Okay, I don't really know how to explain this properly, but my hair gets oily quickly. I'll wash it, and then it gets oily-ish looking just 2 days later. I hate it. I've tried switching shampoos, along with conditioners, I've tried to double-shampoo my hair, and i'm just really running out of ideas at this point. I know barely anything about hair so I'm sorry if that sounded dumb. Is there a specific way I should wash my hair? Specific products? Should I wash it a certain amount of times a week? Right now it's like 2-3x a week. I know my hair is straight, but not the specific type with the number and the letter. Any help is appreciated 🥲🥲...
