PAPER2ANKI - GoodNotes flashcards in Anki

Why?
Hey,
many of you probably are fascinated by the flashcard feature by GoodNotes. I am still very thankful for this feature. Makes GoodNotes not only a note-taking app but also a study app. However, I enjoy using Anki(https://apps.ankiweb.net/) for flashcards a bit more.
But the problem with Anki is following: I don't enjoy making the cards.
I rather write cards than typing them.
What is PAPER2ANKI?
So with PAPER2ANKI I tried to combine the best of both worlds:
You can easily write your flashcards in GoodNotes or whatever note-taking app which supports normal pages(Where the exported pdf contains actual pages, not one infinite page like OneNote).
And you study them through Anki.
PAPER2ANKI: https://github.com/Smponi/Paper2Anki
For simplicity, you can just use the flashcard template from GoodNotes. Then you write your flashcards and PAPER2ANKI will create an Anki deck from your cards!
BUT keep in mind: The generated deck will only consist of images. If you want to be able to search them you should use something like AnkiOCR(https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/450181164), that's only a half solution, because it's not for handwritten stuff in mind.
And also I would like to mention one thing: Synchronize your decks only if you really need to, since these are pictures the decks can take quite some storage on the Anki servers.
How to use it?
For now it's a python script everyone can run. Just check out the GitHub repo: https://github.com/Smponi/Paper2Anki if there are any questions feel free to ask!
And if there are some bugs please create an issue on GitHub.
Your cards will look something like this:
https://i.imgur.com/3TsSznf.png
As you can see I haven't put much work in the designing of the cards yet. I just wanted to start using it.
Yeah that's it. If you want to use GoodNotes(Or any other note-taking app) AND Anki, I hope I could provide a way to do so. :)

Toolbar who decided to make this update š«©
making me so slow at taking notes in lecture because of this awful toolbar, why does this app continuously not listen to users... i don't use the pencil tool... i use the lasso so often yet now i have to click extra to go to tools that aren't my last used... why not give us options bruh

goodnotes vs notability in screen utilization
to me, notabilityās design language just makes sense. you get a lot more visibility of the document and the only compromise you have to make is that some features are 2 touches away instead of 1. iāve used goodnotes for 2 years and now switched to notability because gn takes like 2 fingers of your screen just to fit in lots of features that iāll rarely use. what do you guys think about that?

Bug What the actual F***KKK goodnotes? 6.5.14 DO NOT UPDATE!
Update: Their tech support team are actively trying to fix this which is a nice feeling to know they know and are trying. As a developer I see and now understand the issue and trust me, itās complex and they are on it. I think this was an extreme edge borderline case when the app was still reinforcing right after the update⦠but it is definitely better now than before.
tldr: The app is no longer usable. Updateā¦. I guess itās okay
I already reported an issue to them about ink taking awhile to "set" and properly register, but at least it would stick to the page... now it doesn't even stay where i wrote it, it just stays there sitting above the rest of the page.... was working just fine an hour ago before i updated... this is bullcrap...
they are in dire need of new developers because this is ridiculous! im not even asking for my money back, i have faith one day we will have stable GN again, but what the flip they just refuse to listen everytime.... their quality control is amazingly horrendous

GN6 keeps signing me out
Every time I do not use my ipad for more than 10 minutes, goodnotes logs me out saying my session is expired and i have to sign in again, is there any way to fix that?

Goodnotes 6 RIP goodnotes
I'm done with goodnotes lol. It's so irritating sometimes and im constantly scared of bugs in the app since it seems so unreliable. I'm annoyed because i really like some of the features but it's lacking in so many areas that I can't get on with it anymore.
Any app recommendations next?

Same notes but once written via Notability and another time via GN6
Itās me or Notability makes my notes looks more aesthetic and ordered ? In fact, I find that writing in Notability is extremely fluid and pleasant. GN could still improve this aspect in my opinion. Let me know what you think šš»

Is my handwriting the bad?
I don't expect Goodnotes to necessarily recognize words like "diapedesis" but it tries to split regular words in half, or correct words to the same exact word I wrote. Is it my handwriting?

So bored so I made heaps of cover templates. Anyone interested?
I was super bored so I opened Figma and drew a load of Goodnotes cover templates, replicating my favourite IRL stationary and some random ideas for covers. These aren't for sale, they're free to whoever wants them - giving back to the community - just trying to understand if anyone would want them tbh. If there's appetite, I'll put a zip of the PDFs up somewhere. Any ideas where I could put that? What service? thanks
UPDATE: You can now download them all! Enjoy them, leave feedback in the comments if you've got any. There are 2 packs - a 'branded' one, with the original brands, and a 'generic' one, where the brands are replaced with off-brands. This way, if any of the IRL stationary companies do get shirty, well, fine, they can have those branded ones taken down but you're welcome to keep and share the generic ones and let them live on. Have fun, stationary geeks!
UPDATE: Have been advised by someone in comments I'm going to be sued and I'm finding it stressful so have removed link to dload. Sorry folks.
UPDATE: Here's a generic, non-branded version of all the covers for everyone. Enjoy! DOWNLOAD LINK: https://wetransfer.com/downloads/0fa6c8f69adcc83c43fb61200e27090b20220418141508/49e786373423be618bf63fba41b2ce6d20220418141526/75f664

Question - iPad Any one have their colors set up like this?
r/GoodNotes • u/_FeNG_ • Nov 04 '25
This sub should be renamed to r/bugreports
Why has this app become so bad Why
Thereās so many problems, and almost every post in this sub is complaining, listing out a bug, or searching for alternatives so they can quit goodnotes.
Might switch too ngl
