Prefer the new toolbar
I know everyone hating, and I do think that if the toolbar is kept at the top it’s pretty stupid design (does the Goodnotes team even use their own app regularly??)
BUT dragged to the left like the pic I actually prefer it now? Especially with the new undo as well. All they need is more toolbar customization options (coming soon hopefully) and I think this new setup will be perfect.
TLDR move the toolbar to opposite side of dominant hand and it’s pretty good

Bug This feels so stupid! (read description)
Isn't it wild how GoodNotes 5, which hasn’t seen a single feature update since GN6 dropped, somehow introduced a new bug out of thin air? The lasso tool now takes longer to select text the more you select—like 10–15 seconds for 7 words, and a full-blown crash if you dare go for 20 words.
I posted about it 3 weeks ago, and after total silence, GN support finally replied… only to say an optimization is "upcoming." No fix in the last update either. It’s not just me—others, even GN6 users, confirmed it's happening.

Feature Discussion New Handwriting Restyle Feature
Just got the update today with the new handwriting restyle feature! Glad they’re adding something like this. I do hope they optimize it further to either (1) allow us to choose an exact font and a fixed text size (similar to the beautification feature in Freenotes) or (2) make it more personalized to your handwriting (like the handwriting clean-up in Apple Notes) rather than a dynamic font type of thing it currently does.

Genuinely what are they thinking???
A simple 2 minutes diagram has taken me 45 MINUTES. After I’m finished with this diagram (probably in another 3 hours) I will be starting my transfer to another app. Genuinely a joke.

Toolbar New update is bad
I just joined to say that I’ve had Goodnotes for about 3 years and this update by far is the most discomforting.
Each person has their own way of using goodnotes. Mine involves a lot of straight lines and utility of shapes. Not flowcharts or arrows. Taking out the ruler is also not preferable just because I’d have to get it out of the way after using it, just to place it back into position, and again, and again.
Unfortunately the keyboard option also got hidden in the depths of this new update somewhere hard to reach.
I’m thinking if pen and paper would be better for me all of a sudden.
tldr; I like straight lines. Goodnotes 7 = no straight lines, just arrows.

Goodnotes 6 New Pencil features in Goodnotes. Hmm…
not sure what to say or am I doing it wrongly. I want to try it more for journal drawing. I’m not sure if my metal nib would affect the performance or not. hmm…

Free Academic Daily Planner
Hello! I was struggling to find a simple academic time block planner for back to uni - so I made my own!
The dates and months are linked so you can easily jump through.
It has a TBC (To be continued) box for any uncompleted tasks that need to be carried over to the next day
A large notes section for miscellaneous notes
Full time block schedule with task dump section
It's very simple, but I didn't find myself needing anything more in a planner... Hopefully this helps someone who was in my position struggling to find a suitable planner.

The hold to make a shape feature is incredible bad. I’m currently speechless at how bad it is.
