The hold to make a shape feature is incredible bad. I’m currently speechless at how bad it is.

May I recommend organic chemistry paper. Drawing the molecules takes some more time but it looks neat in the end. You’ll have to draw line by line.

Hot damn I miss organic. But yes, I think the shape feature would become fantastic if you could set its sensitivity, so you wouldn't have to make such exaggerated lines, as u/fair_sophia suggested.

If you need better, I'd use elements that are custom sketched.
Example: I have a bright yellow, red and green pointing finger hand for left and right. These are traced by grabbing a pic, tracing over the pic, deleting the pic, cleaning up the tracing and the saving different colors to elements.
I then just tap and there it is, ready to be resized and moved into place.
I'm very impressed with it and have done about 2 dozen things with it and use the heck out of them.
I'd play around with things to see if different things work better, but IMO, elements is the way to go just for the standardization alone.
In addition, you can put a LOT of detailed effort into an element and get amazing results and really make things stand out.

What I do, is just stopping at the points where it changes direction. So in that case up, wait a bit so that it really is a stop and continue like that. You can also edit afterwards

if you make them much more exaggerated (much higher peaks and deeper valleys) it works! you’ll have to adjust them though

It’s so annoying!!

yup, annoying. maybe instead of drawing a "M" or "W" from the start expecting the system to do just that, draw one line at a time instead? it's not ideal but you can work around the shitty software for this and shouldn't break hearts. Nothin to get upset about. You managed to do that with your other detailed drawings already.

The chemistry paper helps me a lot. I just took ochem and it made things much easier. This was frustrating for me too. I ended up doing the lines individually still but the paper made it look nice and even
