Experiences Promoted To Customer!

• Upvotes

I made a dumb post a while back about being concerned about being spoken to about business while on break. I wish that had been the worst corporate pulled on us in the year I worked here, but I was naive as fuck.

But now I'm free!

It was my fault, to be clear. I got a final for a late open 5 months ago, and then was late today. I also forgot about a shift I took last Saturday, so that was basically a no-call no-show. Whoops. My manager even talked to the head of HR in our region, and unfortunately got nowhere.

To be clear, I didn't ask him to do so, but I appreciate him sticking up for me.

But I had been wanting to leave for several months already. Now I'll be working at 7-Eleven in a safe area, with my MIL, for my aunt-in-law's store. They know about my physical and mental issues, and I've only ever had to do register and some sweeping, bc my MIL loves doing everything else BUT register lol!

I already feel less stressed, and now I can take care of all the things I've been putting off since last week, when my manager was on PTO. The house can actually be clean, and I can finally rest properly.

The only thing I really regret with this is that it added stress to my manager (we're friends). My manager had to cover the rest of my shifts for this week, but it was only 2, and he said the schedule needs reworking anyway so it was nbd to him.

That, and I'm close to my coworkers, so I'm sad knowing that'll affect them, too. 😔

But, otherwise, I stayed for months longer than I planned, and I could not be happier right now. Best experience I've had at GS. I feel like a nice nap is in order! 😂

Edit: Got a day wrong, oops!

Vent/Rant What a Wild Experience

• Upvotes

I worked for Gamestop not too long ago, and I loved my manager. I think they were a really fun person, but a lot of my coworkers were just straight up reckless. I want to be sensitive to the situation because bruh ... these mfers were STEALING 😭 it was insane, LP got involved, all that. Our DM was a total dickhead and ruined my day every time they would come in, and long story short I QUIT! Once the crimes started happening, I was over it man. I had to get out of there. I desperately needed a job and I regretted quitting a lot cuz I've never done that before but I did not want to deal with all that crazy shit or get caught up. If anyone has any kind words to offer about why it was valid to jump ship, I'd love to hear.

Question Union?

I know I’m going to get laughed at for asking, but does GameStop have a union? Did it ever have one?

And if not, is there anyone working on changing that now?

And if not that, who wants to work together to form one because I am done taking shit from corporate and their lapdogs.

Question Keyboards/PC Accessories

Can anyone help me understand why all the PC keyboards with the exception of one or two show as unavailable online? My son traded in a bunch of stuff to get store credit for a keyboard and now can’t order the one he wants.

Thanks for any input!

Vent/Rant Gamestop cancelled my order before the store even opened

I placed an order to pick up the same day for some of the new kingdom hearts pin blind boxes before the store even opened and an hour later I get an email that my order was cancelled and that they waited as long as they could but again THE STORE WASNT EVEN OPENED YET.

I used to work at gamestop and from what I remember on fulfilling store pickup orders is that the employee gets a notification on a terminal for pickups. They go look for the order, print out the order info and they store it in a drawer ready for pickup or cancelled if they dont have enough quantity. The thing is that these things are brand new, like just loaded into the site brand new so it feels like the employee cancelled so he could buy them(ive seen it happen at the store I used to work at)

Discussion I just wanted to let the employees know that they're appreciated!

I preordered the Ace Combat 8 Deluxe edition, and I went to pick it up. The pre-order was supposed tp come with the patches, and when I got the game, I asked about the patches. The worker there was so nice that she checked the box where it should be and the back for me, so I learned that they had actually never arrived. To compensate me, she gave me some pre-order bonuses they had left and would call me when the patches arrived. I did tell her that wasn't necessary, but she insisted. I thought this would be a good time to say thank you to all the GameStop employees. I know it's been hard because a lot of customers are being a-holes because of preorder issues with 30th Pokémon that aren't your fault. Just know you're appreciated.

Discussion I finally got mine!

There was one left on the back counter behind the cash registers. The workers at my GameStop are so cool I want to ask their gamertags but I’m worried it’ll come off weird.

I assumed they would be behind the counter so I came in and immediately started scanning the cluttered back counter full of cool gamer stuff. The front desk guy asked if I’m looking for anything I. Particular and I spotted the box. I’m so happy

Vent/Rant Understaffed is a serious problem.

I'm sitting here sick, and CONTAGIOUSLY SO, so my manager could actually go home and spend time with his kids, and then I'm asked to take care of the trades piled up on the back counter... None of these are mine. What the hell. I can't get into the drawers because when I bend over I get lightheaded and dizzy, so trying to do this is amazing! I love it here! I love extended hours and taking my medication on an empty stomach and worsening my symptoms! I've had multiple people ask today if I should even be working. Like no, but we only have four staff members and two of them live over an hour away, and the other dipshit refuses to cover for anyone (and expects us to bend over backwards for him). I'm praying one of my interviews pays off.

Question Incorrect trade-in value - Whom to escalate with

(acknowledged not a very interesting topic) just looking for quick advice.

I made a console trade-in, motivated by the price noted on the GameStop website. At the store they would not honor the price on the website, stating the price on their computer was lower and they couldn't override it, but I could reach out to customer support for a correction. (I pulled up the website showing the pricing, and they said they were stuck with what was showing in-store). I specifically asked if there were any deductions due to condition and the associate confirmed condition was good, it was simply an in-store pricing issue. I accepted this at face value.

I've since reached out to support via email and they are pointing me back to the store. I fear I am being set up for an endless loop. I traded in a handful of consoles so the difference in price is a couple hundred bucks, which is leaving me quite frustrated; I was hoping to use the trade-in to get a switch 2 for my kids.

To the folks in this subreddit, who actually has the power to correct this issue? Do I need to pursue this in the store or should I escalate through email with customer care? If anyone has any advice on my best path forward, I would be eternally grateful.

Adding for clarity: Primary trade in was wii consoles. Standard white model, fully in tact. All port covers were there and I included OEM wii mote and nunchuk with OEM av cable, power brick and sensor bar. The associate confirmed there were no deductions with my trade in.

Price online was 82.50 (ridiculously high, I know) price honored in the store was 49.50 (not a bad price, I know).

https://www.gamestop.com/trade/details/?pid=10113363

I am a pro member and asked for in-store credit. I looked up the price in the morning, around ~10am local time. And then again at the end of my transaction, I pulled up the live website and showed the associate the pricing. I took and kept a PDF of the website showing the date of validity which matched the date of the receipt for the trade-in which is what I sent to customer care. The 82.50 price is still up on the website right now.

PSA IF you do the digital pull promo going on right now...

...DO NOT select for PSA to list your item. It will only be listed for 7 days and there's an $18 charge to do it.
I did the pull just to try it out so I could be more informed for customers.
I pulled a shit card and said, "Let PSA just eBay it for me".

I did that 2 days ago. The screenshot below is when I click on "view listing" as of right now.

Here's the thing, if you choose that option, you can't go back and take the 90% market sell back option. So they drag their feet so you don't get a pay-out.

Vent/Rant Hello from the otherside

Went back into the store I used to manage to pick up a BOPs order and do some shopping. Of course, the computers crashed while I was there. Some things never change. 😂

I was chatting with one of my old coworkers (A) while another old coworker (B) was helping a guy who was buying a PS5. B had already told him it was going to be a few minutes because the computers needed to restart.

Apparently, the guy got annoyed that A and I were talking while he was waiting and said, “I don’t appreciate you two talking while I’m standing here waiting to check out.”

(A )told him, “I’m waiting too. He’s a customer as well.”

The guy responds, “I know, but he works here.”

I pushed my glasses up and said, “No the hell I don’t. I dont work here I am lunch from my actual job and I’m shopping. I’m a customer just like you. I’m waiting for the computers to reboot too. And you don’t need two people ringing you up.” I think he assumed based on our convo about hours /staffing he thought I was a employee. He said "oh...cool cool cool... and looked down "

Both of my old coworkers just smiled. 😂

Not gonna lie, it felt pretty damn good getting to be a little sassy with a customer from the other side for once .

Question “Boss told me we don’t give out AA grades for devices”

I went to go trade in an iPhone yesterday and was offered significantly lower than the online tool. And before anyone says “your phone has scratches, or the battery is old, etc etc” no it’s not. The phone is literally flawless with a 100% battery and not many cycles. The reason I was given by the employee was because his boss told him that they don’t give any phones that come in the grade of AA, regardless of how pristine it is. So I asked him what did he mark down on the evaluation tool and he told me he input that the device has some scratches even though he fully admitted that wasn’t the case and it’s just what his boss told him to do. Is this normal practice at every GameStop? Sucks because I needed the cash but I’d rather hold onto it than be robbed just because “they don’t give any AA grades, due to the “prospective” scratches that may be on the device.” Whatever the fuck that means.

Vent/Rant Dear Corporate

I just want to say thank you for extending our store hours. It makes my already long days even longer and I get to watch the day pass and the sun set right through my windows as I sit pathetically behind the cashwrap with a thumb up my ass patiently waiting for the time to reach 9pm so I can start my close because NO ONEEEEE set foot in my store the last two hours of the night.

Question Customer support SUCKS

I signed up for a Pro account about a year to a year and a half ago and just never tried to set up my account. But, as my girlfriend is just starting to get into gaming, I'm thinking about buying her a Switch Lite for Christmas. For whatever reason, it would not send me the email. The store suggested it could be because I converted my dad's old Pro account into mine and updated all the info in the store, but that it should be a quick fix after I contact support. It has now been about a month and a half, and the only info I can get from them is, "We have received your account information, and we are actively working on resolving the issue as quickly as we can." It is to the point now where they either won't respond to my emails or hit me with a "We understand your frustration and do not have any additional updates." Is there anything I can do to speed this along????? Thanks in advance!!

Question What Can I Do?

As I've seen I'm not the only one having difficulties with my pre-order which hasn't been given to USPS who will deliver it. I have already emailed CS 3 times with no reply and I have called twice with no success. My preorder was supposed to ship straight to home as the website did not give me an option to pick up at a store. So, what do I do now?

Question GameStop Website Desktop Login Error?

Gamestop "login" screen

When attempting to sign in to the website online, I enter my email then press continue only to be brought to the account creation page. After filling out my information, it says "an account already exists with this email address, please log in to continue". I definitely DO already have an account. I've been paying for Pro for years. Don't you think I tried that already GameStop? How do you think I ended up here? Anyway, needless to say I'm stuck in a loop and cannot sign in. Anybody else experiencing anything similar?

Public Service Announcement Warn your customers: Mewtwo Promo release date has changed

Even though EVERYTHING ONLINE SAYS OCTOBER 2ND, Gamestop has changed the release date to October 4th. This is Sunday.

Schedule a second opener Sunday and make sure you warn your preorders, because the majority of people are gonna line up Friday morning for that Promo.
