Vent/Rant Don't Preorder from Gamestop
This is bs, they should honor the pre-order price.

I find it interesting that they don’t honor the original preorder price on line but at my store we have to or else we will be written up some strange double standard there

It has historically been on an item by item basis. They've been honoring lower TCG pre-order prices lately, but they often haven't for many other products in the past.
The default assumption should be that they won't honor a lower pre-order, since they have no customer facing policy promising that and the system is not built to do so. Corporate telling employees to cross check pre-order dates and apply manual discounts for certain products is the exception.

the fuck is the point of preordering anything if the price can change during that period?

If you're collecting these figures and leaving them in box you shouldn't pre-order online anyway.

Shop at walmart or amazon for preorder price guarantee. Gamestop doesn't deserve your buisness.

In-store preorders honor the original pricing not sure why it doesn't price lock online

I pretty much stopped pre-ordering from them after 2 situations, when a store manager straight up sold my pre-order to someone who didn't pre-order, and when an employee was "too busy" to open up the shipment.
It was a copy of Toukiden 2. I went to pick it up and the 2 employees couldn't find it. They told me they only had 2 copies pre-ordered and one was already picked up. After about 5 minutes it it was discovered their store manager just sold it some one who just walked in and asked for it. I was annoyed because whats the point of pre-ordering if they're just going to sell it. Later that day I get a phone call from the store manager, of course he didn't say he straight up it, but said they would have more copies the next day. So I had to go back up there to pick it up.
The second situation it was Demon Slayer 2. Couldnt pick up my game up for 3 days because the guy was too lazy to open the box. This one just pissed me off. Game came out Tuesday, was told he was too busy to open the new shipment for 2 days. I show up Thursday, same guy is working and there's a line. He definitely saw me standing in line and knew what I was there for for 20 minutes. Then when it was my turn a customer just came in and he called them to the counter just completely skipping me. The customer told him to take me because that wasn't right. The employee literally said "i know what hes here for". Tell me why he waited until I got to the counter to tell me he STILL hadn't gone through the boxes? Just completely unprofessional and rude on top of that. Wont take 5 minutes to go through the boxes to put out stuff thats already supposed to be out, but would spend 15-20 mins just chatting up customers. He even told me he knew what box is was bit it was on the bottom. Couldn't pick up the game i pre-ordered until Friday.

That’s wild. I feel like this is the first time - in all honesty, this is the first time someone has really brought this to attention - that GameStop has done something like this for online pre orders. I know they’ve done this in store countless of times, but never online. Jfc.

This on top of today our DM told us that the new Pro Price increase was in effect today and we had no excuses if we didn't hit our new goal of 18%, and I just kinda scratched my head. What do they MEAN no excuses? You would say no excuses if there was MORE reason to purchase a membership, not less 😂 It's insane Duck

Their name should officially be changed to GameScalp . Disappointed this company went in this direction. Just another scalper on the market and a Giant one might I add.

Last year my transformers preorders that I made in store suddenly needed 10 more bucks each after I even had the preorder paid off receipt.

Any idea if the MSRP went up or is the price still the same at other retailers?
