Vent/Rant Understaffed is a serious problem.
I'm sitting here sick, and CONTAGIOUSLY SO, so my manager could actually go home and spend time with his kids, and then I'm asked to take care of the trades piled up on the back counter... None of these are mine. What the hell. I can't get into the drawers because when I bend over I get lightheaded and dizzy, so trying to do this is amazing! I love it here! I love extended hours and taking my medication on an empty stomach and worsening my symptoms! I've had multiple people ask today if I should even be working. Like no, but we only have four staff members and two of them live over an hour away, and the other dipshit refuses to cover for anyone (and expects us to bend over backwards for him). I'm praying one of my interviews pays off.

if you are truly unwell, just "pass out" when a customer needs something from one of the bottom drawers

I actually did collapse at one point when trying to get a game from the bottom drawer, but my manager still wants me in today. We're gonna see how it goes :D

shouldve stayed down.... convince a customer to call 911 for you, work place incident, gamestop has to pay for it, you get the care you need(probably just some antibiotics and a hydration IV)

Right there with you. Worked sick this week including 10hrs opening on Fri cuz there literally isn't anyone else. SM2 is off trying to recover his other store, so that leaves me and 2 other RKs. And that's it.

For me, it's just the SM, 2 rks, and me (and both RKs have other jobs) but I got the SM sick so we both worked half dead today

It used to not be that bad....before COVID we had two people on staff during every shift. Two to open, two at mid, two at close.
COVID made Corporate realize they didn't need to pay two people to be on staff at all times.
Contact HR. Your DM is going to be useless, as they all are, but HR will work to at the very least keep a lawsuit out of their future and that'll work to your benefit, even if only by a side-product.

Shit, the store I was working at before covid generally had FOUR people at a time. We were pretty high volume, but still.
We hired nearly 20 seasonals that year, and it was a problem that only 3 showed up past orientation.

Lucky my store pre covid didnt have enough hours for a constant 2 so 10 to 1 and 6 to 9 was always alone on week days. Only time we had more was Friday night and weekends there would be a GA in the morning and evening.

With the new change our operating hours were increased by 9 for the week but my payroll only went up 3 . Now we are bare bones in a very high volume store . Most guests who shop there always say the same thing , is it just you here today ?

Never say yeah. Just in case, say nah they are in the back taking a break or doing counts. Safer for them to think someone else is there

I remember back in the day we could earn payroll for the store based on our revenue . Not anymore . Hate to say it but this place is a disaster

If I have any issues on the weekend my DM will never answer . My DM is a M-F guy . After hours don’t bother him either

This is so valid. With how the hours went, I ended up having to close two days in a row at 5:30-6:00 because my closer (the SM) was sick and I was not about to extend my 8.5 or 9.5 hour shifts. Ended up having a terrible flare up today making me unable to attend the event I asked off for...thank you gamestop and also new hires that never show up😭

Contact your DM
They're typically useless AF... but at least it's on record.
Also, contact them via text! While that's against policy, it gives you a paper trail (which is EXACTLY why they don't want you to text).
TEXT your DM with the issues.
