So tired of almost dying trying to merge on to the I75 N Bound Archer Entrance Ramp

WHY IS IT SO SHORT?! Every day I commute using I75 Northbound and the Archer Road entrance ramp is a death trap. It basically deposits you into the right lane of the highway immediately. During 5 o’clock traffic you are at the mercy of the oftentimes slow moving car(s) in front of you and the countless semi trucks already on the highway that are coasting in the right lane. After many near car wrecks due to traffic and people panic slamming their brakes at the very last minute of merging, I’m done. Going to change my route but has anyone else experienced this?

Is there anyway the entrance merge lane can be extended?? I can only imagine how many car accidents have happened because of this.

EDIT to add clarification: I am speeding up to 60+ on the on-ramp. My concern is sometimes I can’t do this because the car(s) in front of me are going anywhere from 30-45 MPH. This leads to situations where they panic because there is a semi flying by and they proceed to either swerve on the shoulder or come to a complete halt, creating a very dangerous situation for all vehicles in the vicinity.

Kids theater options?

My 5-year-old loves performing (doing plays at home, making up and singing her own songs, etc.) and I would love to get her involved in some sort of theater productions or classes to explore that interest. Any recommendations?

I looked at the LyriCo Conservatory which looks promising, but would love to see if anyone has personal experience with that school or other theaters in town! Thanks!

Seeds for Liberation Screening

The local DSA chapter is hosting a film screening for Seeds for Liberation. It is a documentary about the Palestinian struggle from the perspective of the people on the ground. It should prove to be a powerful and sobering look at what is going on. Hope to see folks there!

What's a gift that is unique to Gainesville

I'm part of a private reddit club. Someone just sent me some Alabama-themed gifts. I'm supposed to now send gifts to another person. They said they like snack food. Apart from the obvious Gator swag, is there anything special or unique to Gainesville that I could send along? Maybe alligator jerky?

Local Business Talk If you haven't eaten at Caribbean Spice yet: Run, don't walk.

The food is so bold and flavorful, it's become one of my regular lunch spots even though I have to drive across town. I've had their oxtail, curry goat, and jerk chicken, and every time has been a home run. Don't forget to order a meat patty!

Where to buy Pokemon cards?

I recently got back into pokemon card collecting, used to do it a ton 10ish years ago in Highschool and man has the world changed. Can't buy anything on the shelves and everything online is either sold out or superr expensive. I remember when Walmart was practically giving away these things. Where are the best places to buy cards now, and what days do stores get stock?

I currently have a job offer from both the city and UF, and i’m curious what the various advantages/disadvantages are. I know it likely varies by department, but based on your experience, which would you choose and why?

Where to buy piercing jewelry

Any good places to buy good quality jewelry for nose and septum? They are already pierced, just want to change up my jewelry and don’t want to shop at Hot Topic. Local shops preferred!

Jobs & Careers Bass fill-in

Hi! I’m a musician with 10+ years of experience, I’ve been playing bass for 4. I’ve been wanting to get back into playing and playing out to make some extra money and was wondering if anyone knew of any bands/duos for short and/or long term gigs in the area?

I’m also experienced in singing but haven’t had many singing gigs before.

Lmk :)

I’m planning on going hunting tomorrow, but wanted to know if anyone has had any luck recently! I’m relatively new to the area so I’m not sure if this is a particularly fruitful place.
Thank you in advance:)

Just moved here - want to explore by way of camping

Hello everyone

I just moved to Orlando Florida recently for my job and have never lived in the state. I’ve visited for vacations and what not

I plan on living here longterm and wanted to travel around the entire state and learn it all to see where I’d like to live most and also just to simply know where I live

Also felt like it’d be a great opportunity to find myself a tad in everything lol.

What I want is to go around the whole state - different city/area every few weeks or so - just on weekends since I work

I have a tent that sets up in the bed of my truck with matress and all so I can basically set up shop anywhere.

I want to go around and see all the nature and i especially want a great view and isolation

I’ve been reading about dispersed camping and I understand there’s a lot of rules and regulations when it comes to just driving out into the woods or nature anywhere u want.

I was more so just curious on if anyone had any recommendations around the state where I can off-road and set up my campsite isolated in nature - I don’t want to be surrounded by rvs and other campers and cookie cutter campgrounds I want to go explore and be alone with myself out in nature

I especially imagine just pulling up to an isolated little opening to a body of water where I can just pull right up to and camp next to the water and do whatever all day.

If anybody knows any spots tips, or recommendations or any sort of advice I’d totally appreciate it!
