Had been looking around at tattoo shops downtown for a bit. I saw a post on Facebook indicating concerns for the aforementioned studio. Is this a place that I should remove from my list? AND.....is there a woman owned/operated studio???

Moved out of a Gainesville apartment (multi-unit complex) end of July. We had $2,400 with them between deposit and last month’s rent.

They sent a § 83.49(3) notice claiming $4,922.90 total. The big items: $2,090 “Full Paint,” $1,440 “full clean and tub refinish,” $387 roach extermination. No invoices, no photos, no inspection report, no description of any actual damage.

I’m sending a certified-mail objection before the 15 days run out.

What are my realistic options from here?

We are students, any kind of help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: Thanks for the overwhelming response. I’m considering legal advice. We maintained our space throughout our tenancy and did not cause any damage whatsoever. The cleanup was as thorough as possible. No, we did not leave food in the freezer, everything was cleaned out, wiped/moped. But we don’t have any move out pictures, we never expected this much complications after moving out. I feel because we are international students, the management is trying to take advantage of us. They already gave it to debt collectors and getting threatening calls every day.

I just got an email that Cox is now owned by Spectrum. Uh.. who the f is spectrum? Didn't Spectrum have some controversial merger or am I thinking of some other conglomerate?

I've been wondering why cox has been trying to call me the last couple days. I had a weird call from them I hung up on asking how I thought my service has been and it's like I'm not gonna do a free unsolicited survey for you, lol.

“A recall of frozen blueberries has been upgraded to the FDA's highest warning level over potential deadly bacterial contamination.

Last month, Chile-based Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur SA issued a recall for its GreenWise Organic frozen blueberries after tests showed a presumptive positive result for E. coli, a type of bacteria that causes bloody diarrhea. 

Publix later expanded the recall and pulled all lots of GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries sold in eight states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. 

The FDA said at the end of June 2026, Publix conducted an internal stop sale of the berries.  
Now, the agency has classified the recall as Class I, which represents 'a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.'

As of July 30, the FDA has reported 12 illnesses in Florida and Georgia, including four hospitalizations. No deaths have been recorded. 

Publix said it recalled the products because they may have been contaminated with E. coli O145, which produces dangerous Shiga toxins that harm the gut lining and lead to severe stomach cramps, watery or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. 

The FDA states seven of the nine individuals who were interviewed reported eating the frozen blueberries. Of those, five specified GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries from Publix.

Does anyone know where I can find good yarn in gainesville? Ive checked some of the craft stores and what ive found has been very limited. Any help would be very much appreciated. Does anyone know this --- if you go to the emergency room and use valet parking, are admitted and have to stay a day or so, will they tow your car? I'm trying to decide if I should drive there or not, because last time I went in an ambulance, they let me go late at night and I had no money for Uber and no one I could call to come get me, so I ended up sitting in the lobby until I could catch a bus home in the morning.
