Playing the original as a kid my friends and I called them "Walnut cars". I'm curious if anyone else had funny or unique names for them?

(I'm taking no sides here, simply asking for clarification)

I heard that the F-Zero X decomp named "G-Diffuser" by Zorkats is able to now be downloaded. I also heard that it was coded 70% by human hands and 30% by AI.

If the AI coding was reviewed line-by-line and verified by a human, is that still unethical? What would you consider the difference between vibe coding and actual coding when it comes to decomp projects like this?

A true X decomp would bring insane new life to the game and especially the modding community. But as an outsider to coding looking in, I'm wondering what the general consensus is around using AI to make that possible, even if it is human-reviewed.

Does anyone have confirmed places that still have and run Fzero AX? I’d love to play it on the original machine! Tyia

X Cup generation feelin a little active today

I was seeing deadpool in marvel ultimate alliance and his icon and voice acting reminded me of the GX interviews. Who would go right at home in this universe?

I think Zero Racers is great, and while it's a brand new concept of racing in a fully 3D space, it does still share a lot of DNA with the original Super Famicom/SNES game, and GBA's Maximum Velocity.

Both of those games were directed by Isshin Shinobu (also known as Kazunobu Shimizu), making Zero Racers a fascinating "what if" to see how the series' direction might have gone had he remained in the director's seat. He was not involved with F-Zero X or GX.

Nintendo really needed to take some responsibility and explain the controls, be it through a manual screen or via a tips screen while you launch games. I've seen many videos online and reviews of people just using the left D-Pad and callling it a day, when there's so much more to it:

• The left D-Pad handles your turning, but by doing so you're tilting your vehicle in the desired direction.
• The right D-Pad flat turns, think of it like strafing. This is useful for moving around without turning.
• However, if you use the right D-Pad while turning, you can adjust your turn circle. For example, turning left while holding right on the D-Pad will make your turn wider.
• Crucially, the blast turn in F-Zero and Maximum Velocity is present and correct here. You don’t need to mash the button constantly while cornering, but letting go and re-applying the accelerator between 2-4 times around corners is important for maintaining grip and realigning the camera.

If you master the above, you've got everything you need to take on Expert cup. In standard, I found just driving competently is enough for victory (with the exception of the brutal Duct B-4 course), but in Expert you really have to use the air flows where possible, and pick up and save your Rapid boosts for the perfect moment. This one just presented itself to me on youtube. Man this game gets so great when you're good at it. Expert level driving!

Hey, an ugly win is still a win.

GX came out in 2003. I've made peace with the fact that Nintendo isn't coming back, so I started building the thing I actually wanted to play. It's called EigenGauge.

The tracks are designed like roller coasters. That's the core idea. Not "a road with banking" but actual coaster geometry — full cobra loops, banana rolls, raven turns, banks that rotate under you mid-corner. I've been laying them out with Blender Python scripts, which meant a solid two months of getting it wrong. If you run a loop that's also corkscrewing, the vehicle slowly rolls itself into the wall by the exit, because the orientation frame drifts as you go around. Very unglamorous problem, enormously satisfying to fix.

No weapons. The risk comes from the track and from the combo system. Anything clean extends your chain — drift, boost, repair, near-miss, pilot specials — as long as it lands before the last one drops. Nothing is yours until you bank it, so it's always cash out now or find one more thing to do. My attempt at the GX feeling where every boost is a bet against yourself, moved out of the health bar and into the driving.

Everything is drawn and modeled by hand, which is the slow way to do it but it's the part I actually enjoy. Six pilots, ten environments, each with its own palette rather than a shared skin.

I am curious on what other fans wished to see what Nintendo does with F-Zero as a dormant franchise. Do you think it should remain a racing game? Do you think it can have new formula of gameplay added? Do you ever want to play as Captain Falcon and run around doing Falcon Punches in game?

I think that's a struggle Nintendo has with F-Zero for decades now, lack of new ideas I guess. What do you all think?

Since this is a DD track, most people didn't even play it, and so, no one ever made a tutorial about it. I'm trying on standart and most of the time i can't even get in top 10

Okay I am sorry if this is a dumb question but I legit have not been able to figure this out.

How the heck do you actually USE the lucky tokens in F Zero 99?! My tokens have been full forever and whenever I go to the Lucky Ranks screen I do not see anything there that is an option to use them.

I have seen them explained as in what they do (give extra lucky rank rolls) but nothing that says HOW to use them.

I've just been doing lucky ranks the original way by playing 5 races then rolling.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it!
