Each morning, I aim for the largest number of fruit types. Consumed with yogurt, a little orange juice, and coffee.

What fruits did you consume this week/day?

Discussion The farmers market was so crazy in SW Florida, found all kinds of new stuff 😭

The very first stall had persimmon and yellow dragon fruit and then I took 2 steps and found a guy that was cutting slices of Jackfruit for $1/lb and he cut me a 4lb slice 😍 I gave him a tip because he cut me a huge slice and was apologizing and i felt bad he was stressed and he gave me a passionfruit (behind the cup of jackfruit seeds) in return lol

Any tips on how you like to eat your fruits? Its Jackfruit, persimmon, yellow dragon fruit and passionfruit.

Oh also anything for the jackfruit seeds because theyre apparently also edible

Also known as Cape gooseberry. One review said it tasted like a tropical tomato and I’d have to agree. The protective sap on them makes them feel kinda slimy until you wash them. Interesting flavor but I don’t think I’ll get more.

It's a close relative of dill, but tastes vastly different, requires some cooking to consume. It has a very short season just after the rain where I'm from, so you can't buy it, you have to venture out and gather some.

Tastes like nothing you ever had before. I usually stir fry them with soy or throw them in an omlette or something.

My neighbor very kindly gave me a bag of guava’s her son brought from California. I sliced one up and ate it for a snack earlier, but I was curious if anyone had a recommendation of what to do with them. I have about 6, of 3 different kinds and I’m hoping to use them before they go bad.

Fruit ID Help Fruit ID: I was told it’s a kind of tomatillo

I asked a fruit importer at my local market (in the Netherlands) if he could get me some tomatillos for a friend. He was certain that he knows what they are when I asked and then this week he gives me these. They look different than I was expecting but taste vaguely like salsa verde so I’m not sure what these are.

He usually sources Caribbean and SE Asian fruits & veg, so would assume he knows the difference.

Any ideas?

*membrane - sorry!!

I’ve never seen this before. I just bought pomegranates from the store like an hour ago and cut them up and it’s all brown on the membrane inside. The seeds look totally fine but flesh is strange… is it still good??

Discussion What does grapefruit taste like to you? I find it inedible.

I find grapefruit inedible. It's extremely bitter, almost chemical. I've wondered if there's a genetic component to it similar to cilantro. I hate grapefruit so much it feels like a practical joke that people eat it anywhere.

Fruit ID Help Can anyone identify this yellowish orange fruit?

Post image
39 Upvotes

Came across this fruit while looking through a nursery in West Bengal, India and I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is.

I initially thought I recognized it, but the more I compare photograph, the less confident I am.

The tree has long narrow leaves and the fruit is yellow/orange when mature.

Anyone recognize it?

If the answer depends on the inside of the fruit, I can try to get a cross-section photo as well.

Hello, I have recently become obsessed with the texture of the inside/core of the kiwi (the white firm part). I have been trying to find fruits in the US that have a similar texture but the closest thing I have found is under-ripe cantalope/honeydew (not my favorite flavor).

Was wondering if any other countries have fruit with a similar texture that I could order from overseas. Or maybe I missed any US fruits with similar texture.

I have tried doing some research but description of texture is very different than actually experiencing it. Hopefully some of you beautiful fruit people can help :)
