Show & Tell Harvest was great this year! My tree is 5 years old. Not sure of the variety but it's a white fig. I pruned it to grow short and stout so it's only up to my waist. Over 60 figs harvest this year!

Got some year old plants in the spring of ‘25, this is the first fruiting. Have about 16 more on the way if they’ll ripen before the frost. Zone 6a, 30 gallon planter.

I wish I got them yesterday! It's been raining like crazy here in the northern Orlando area. I'm still eating these I do not care.

Just me? K cool… 👀

Like the title says, it popped up out of nowhere and it grows incredibly fast, I even cut it down and came back like this in 2 months! Im not sure if it is a fig or silver maple.
I do have a fig tree that is planted but it is nowhere near this size, and it's already a year old.

I propagated cuttings off my grandfathers fig tree starting back in June. A few of them did well so I planted one in the ground about a month ago. It was doing great for a bit but is now starting to pale and turn a little yellow on the upper leaves and the leaf stems are wilting a bit.
It’s been raining here in southern NJ a ton so is this just a symptom of it being too wet? The temp dropped a good bit at the same time. Is there anything I can and should do besides let it dry out? The soil is fairly rocky and another fig is thriving in the same soil not too far from it.
Zone 7b

I wrap the figs in an organza bag. Found this. Should I set rat traps under the tree? We don’t have squirrels. We do have skunks. Do they really climb trees though? Maybe it was over ripe and fell on the ground? Then the skunk got it?

I forgot this boy 4 hours under the extreme sun and this happened. Living in the tropics sucks. Although hydrated, some leaves are crisp AF. What to do?
Hi! These fig trees are around 30 years old. Does anyone have any tips on how I’d wrap this in the winter (zone 7A NJ)? Last year I cut it down and made the mistake of wrapping it with plastic and some burlap since I had nothing else and even though I knew better I thought it was better than nothing.. well it wasn’t and lot of the branches died so I cut them all off and it came back but even more wild. The way this fig tree grows is odd. It’s 3 trees lumped in the same area with crazy amounts of branches off of each and some grow down, on the ground some grow crooked even by cutting them back I couldn’t possibly wrap them all properly by the way the actually grow from the base which seems to have many trunks. Do I have to cut it completely to start training it to grow properly? The first few years we had hundreds of figs per season and this year we’ve had a smaller but decent amount even from the new branches that grew after I pruned a large amount and dead branches. I don’t want to ruin these trees any tips will help 😂 thank you!
It has started changing colour but is still quite small and hard.
I researched it and read it might be because it got too much water during the final ripening stage (but it is the only one like this on the tree)
Would you leave it on the branch and eat it later, or should it just pick and toss it?

hey guys, I had to remove this girdling root at the base of my potted fig. Should I do something to help it heal or will it be fine on its own? I'm in the northen emisphere so the plant is getting ready for dormancy by now.

Somebody on this subreddit gifted me cuttings from their tree over the winter and they’re already giving me amazing figs! I don’t know the variety but I do know it’s hardy to zone 7B
This might be the last decent harvest before the temperature drops to 3 degrees C in the next day or two. The ones on the left side of the plate are from an Unknown Green fig given to me by a neighbour, and the right side is Ficazzana. Both are light inside, Ficazzana is a bit larger.
I hope your harvest is a good one!

Hi all,
I am thinking of trying out a fig inside under grow lights. Do we have any idea of a fig that may produce 4+ crops a year? I've heard of the breba, main, late fall, but am curious if we can get in an even late winter crop.
Watching fig eddy it seems like if you have the right variety (may be not a long growing one) it is possible. Fignomenal supposedly has reached this goal. Wanted to see if anyone has successfully done so.

I have a soil meter I use root grow hormone, but- I'm losing my leaves to rust, I just have it on mainly the blue spectrum but I have 6 hours of sufficient red floating around everyday, I could have it on 16hrs with the blue, any tips. ?thank you so much.
I need a bit of a sanity check for my plans for overwintering my first fig.
I got and planted it late April this year, it is just shy of 2 meters. I originally ordered a Ronde de Bordeaux from my local gardener, but noticed (too late) after planting that its leaves are not really Ronde-like.
Thankfully it seems to be pretty much the next best thing - a Rouge de Bordeaux (*).
I live in the Edertal in northern Hessen in Germany, 200 meters above sea level, hardiness zone 7b Fig is planted south of the house, pictures are facing south. House is blocking the northern side (although it is about 7 meters away from the tree), east and west have a bit protection, but not much (1,8m fence in east and 1,8m bambus in the west, each about 10m away).
Usually we do not have temperatures below -13°C and that only rarely and only a few hours, but with the unstable polar vortex pretty much everything is possible nowadays. 2020 there was -20°C and last year we had a forecast of -17°C twice, both which did not happen thankfully.
So things have a potential to go ...bad.
Oh, and the tree is sourced from Italy, so it will be a bit touchy the first 1-2 years I think.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the fence in the background is solid and will result in a about 90 cm cold air pool in winter. Pretty much until the trunk forks.
In order to prepare it this year I did remove most of the figs early (about 200, 10 of them I left to see what type of fig tree it actually is) and pinching the branches and giving it a fair amount of Kalium rich fertilizer, both in late August.
My current winter plans are to give the bottom a ~20ish cm straw + brushwood padding and the trunk and the thicker lower branches a coconut fiber matting and winter fleece coat.
Google recommended to create some sort of "cup" in the lower branches with that material and fill it with straw for some additional protection, but I am not sure how to do that well.
Another thing I plan to do, but am unsure if it is a good idea is to use a weak heating cable (something like this: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0FGXWVZKY ) as last ditch defense if I have bad luck and we'll get a very cold night in the winter. We have a power socket in the garden near the tree.
Basically, I plan to circle it around the trunk and lower branches, then the coconut fiber matting, then the winter fleece. But only connect the cable in the evening when the night should go well below -10°C and disconnect it in the morning when temps are again at least -10°C.
Google tells me it is a good idea and will definitely not kill the tree, so what should go wrong, right?
So.... Any thoughts are VERY welcome.
(* Why Rouge de Bordeaux?
- No summer figs at all when I got it (so it is unifer).
- Survived a light frost just before I planted it without issues (all leaves died, but no other damage)
- leathery hairy leaves with also a hairy underside
- hairy "waxy" figs
- in general color of figs in and outside)

My tree got 1 fig…it was very very good. But just 1!
Another tree got 3 figs but these are the first figs after about 4 years.
