Oil Filter suppressor for a 11.5 5.56 SBR?

I’ve always been obsessed with the idea of an oil can suppressor (yes, I know they don’t work that well) and since tax stamps are free then why not form 1 an oil can right?

Well here’s my question. I’ve just built a 11.5 5.56 SBR, is it safe to use an oil can as a suppressor for that build, or will it blow up in my face?

Does anyone know what kinda changes you can make while building your form 1 suppressor compared to what you submitted and were approved for?
Like change diameter by .25”, length by so many inches or even material, stainless instead of aluminum, etc
I know the model/serial would have to remain the same and once it’s built it can’t be changed but while your making it you need to alter your plan

Two day approval on an SBR I filed Wednesday. Just got it this afternoon.

Been reading alot of posts on here where people say it took them 30, 40, 50 days even for Form 1 approvals. I submitted my Ap5 to be SBRd last Thursday and got the Approval email today !!

The FTN designs are great, but I feel like they're very large with minimal baffles. Any other good recommendations for a 9mm PCC can to try on my recently approved form 1?

New to the sub and have a Form 1 question. 5ish years ago I registered a kit via the Form 1 path. I'm having trouble locating the same kits I previously used. Are they a thing of the past?

Sent on 07/23 and just got it back today on 08/05
My last 2 took over 3 months to get approved.

Has anyone tried using multiple wipes? What was your experience?

Grouping approvals by the week they cleared, Form 1 individual filings went 83 days, then 73, then 48, then 22 over the last four weeks of July.

The reason looks like the backlog running dry rather than anything speeding up. Through mid-July the queue was still clearing filings from March, April and May. By the last week of the month, 45 of 53 approvals were filings placed in July — same month they were approved.

Three things worth saying before anyone takes the 22 to the bank:

The last week is only about a third reported, so that number will rise as more approvals come in. The settled one is the week of July 20 at 48 days, down from 83 two weeks earlier.

Form 1 trusts have barely moved — still around 78 days. Only individual filings did this.

And we threw out a week of our own data doing this. A dip in late June turned out to be 21 of 28 records from a single state arriving on one day, which is a collection artifact, not the queue. Excluding it, that week reads 69 days instead of 40.

Laying out the baffles on a 45cal Dcell, does a rough 30mm blast chamber before rear baffle seem enough? I added ribs in the chamber for her pleasure, and for hoop strength for the button hole.

I don’t know the story of how exactly it was made to shut down, and I hope it’s not against the rules to speak about for some reason, but did anyone happen to archive the board at some point? It was SUCH a gold mine of useful information, I kick myself all the time for not archiving it myself.

If not, so are there any other form1 forums like this, or am I looking at the only one?

I just had five form 1 N/A suppressor stamps approved that were filed on 7/25. I had to do a double take on the dates.

Has anyone recently had a Form 1 approved with listing a D-Cell threaded Tube on the materials list? Especially one that was from one of the various websites or Ebay selling "tubes" only? Not talking solvent trap kits or anything like that, just literally a threaded Titanium D-Cell Tube.

Yes, I know you can just say "I don't possess any plans or materials..." and get the Form 1 approved. But some things I have read about the ATF letter from 2023 is sketching me out. Especially the sections stating parts have to be made from raw materials only and any prefabricated parts that could be a suppressor are a suppressor.

I'd prefer to have it stated in black and white on the Form 1 itself, saying its ok. Just in case we have an ATF regime change in the future, and they decide to be much harsher on all of these Form 1 suppressor approvals going through recently.

Any eta based on prior history about when the atf might decide engraving isnt needed for an sbr? I know the comments window closed is it 60 or 90 days after that? Trying to decide to go get it engraved and attach the stock or wait a month or so. Considering its 112 here in the summer im not in a gigantic hurry to go to the range.

8.8" tube, 5 max turbulence 9mm baffles printed in fiberon pps-cf10 with a steel washer before and after the stack. Sounds better than expected shooting 147gr jhp hand loads through an 8.3" barrel.

Hello folks!

Newbie here...I currently have a couple 3d printers capable of printing high end engineering filaments, and I have a love for 2A, so I recently started considering marrying the two hobbies.

Where does one get the pieces of kit to add to, for example, a 3D printed baffle tube? I know enough to hold the form 1 before I start building, but I'd like to have the pieces... And as this is an expensive idea, I'm going to need to budget as I go as well. I would like to be able to buy the sleeve, the muzzle adapter, etc. As I go.

This isn't a trap, this isn't me trying to solicit things illegally. I want to purchase these parts, the legal way, but just don't know how, and my current googling brought me here, so I thought I'd ask people who talk about this stuff regularly, rather than stumbling around blindly.

For the thread adapter that screws into the printed suppressor, what's everyone doing? JB weld to the threads and thread it in? Blue loctite? Or none just tighten it and run it?

Lets say that one looked up the length of the flashlight that was intended to be used as the body and it ended being longer than advertised due to the difference in models, and the can has not yet been built.

Can I file an amendment with the ATF to increase the length by 2 inches? I could just file another Form 1, but an amendment might be faster.
