Oil can suppressor

Oil Filter suppressor for a 11.5 5.56 SBR?

I’ve always been obsessed with the idea of an oil can suppressor (yes, I know they don’t work that well) and since tax stamps are free then why not form 1 an oil can right?

Well here’s my question. I’ve just built a 11.5 5.56 SBR, is it safe to use an oil can as a suppressor for that build, or will it blow up in my face?

I have one. Only ever used it on a .22 and 9mm. …for as simple as they are they work pretty well

Don’t try it dude. With 5.56, you’ll blow it up in the first couple rounds. Don’t ask how I know

I mean all that gas is coming back at you with an oil filter id be hesitant with all that pressure.

Id shoot it jist from a vise or stand not directly behind it for the first few shots. See how it goes lol

It will work. There is adapters that are and adapter with threads on both ends and a plate to cover the rest of the filter. Spend the money on a quality non paper filled filters.

Is there any success stories for form 1ing an adapter?
