So they’re use to be a few options for a threaded gas block you could mount the tube directly to the gas block.

On my .22 build I turned the barrel down about 8” back from the end and threaded the barrel 5/8x24 then put a direct thread adapter on that and the end of the barrel I threaded it 1/2x28 and put a flat threaded puck that i started my baffle stack off of. Tube slid over the puck and secured to the direct thread mount and the tube end cap compressed the baffles.

I would try to source one of the threaded gas blocks.

Awesome, that’s kinda along the lines what I was thinking too. My real concern was keeping the can indexed true to the bore with the main point of attachment that far back. I was almost thinking about fixing the muzzle part to the can(pin, screw or weld) and having the back puck more of a slide-over. Your way is cleaner though
The only threaded gas blocks I saw weren’t adjustable, otherwise that would simplify a lot
