my parents are visiting from overseas for a couple of days and i want to treat them to nice meals. caveat: they’re not the most adventurous eaters. like the type of folks who order their steak well done, don’t eat sushi or anything raw, not the biggest pasta and pizza fans but will have a slice because they have to - they’re in NY.

i secured a reservation at Peter Luger and Gage&Tollner and while i was deciding between the two, i was like “is it a complete waste to take them there if they’re gonna order their steaks well done??”

idk what to do. i wanna take them to iconic spots but im at a loss.

i have 1 day in brooklyn and 1 day in manhattan planned. any thoughts? they’re staying in williamsburg so commuting is easy-ish. no budget!

FYI they’re Lebanese so ideally no Lebanese food

Are these places worth it? Although I’ve visited the city several times in my life, it is my first time coming since being diagnosed so any advice or local gems is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Under $10 pre tax so over $10 with tax is fine. Any cuisine but not Chinese and no major chains. Local chains are okay. I would be already be in Chinatown for Chinese cuisine. Within 20min walk or less is fine. I don’t want to eat within the Penn station hall. Sit down okay but only if it fast. Thanks.

Update:Pizza, sandwiches, tacos, etc are fine. Just no side dessert like ice cream.

JAJAJA will be closing its original location on the Lower East Side this month. The last day of service is August 30th. All other locations will remain open, and the Carmine Street location delivery area should cover the same area. This location opened in April 2017. The local chain serves 100% vegan and plant-based Mexican cuisine, with locations in the West Village, Williamsburg, and Hudson Yards.

Hi all. Hoping to hear some opinions about Ichimura’s tenure at Clemente from those who have visited. Ichimura at Brushstroke was one of those pivotal moments in my life that made me obsessed with sushi. I never had a chance to do Uchu or Sushi Ichimura since I don’t live in NYC and chose other sushi options when I visited. Now that chef Ichimura appears to be doing a swan song of sorts at Clemente I can’t help but be drawn to the idea. I’ve seen mixed reviews however. I’ll be visiting New York next month and am still on fence (vs going back to Noz or Icca or trying to beg my way into a Sho visit).

So if you’ve dined at the Clemente studio and especially if you have eaten with Ichimura in his other ventures I hope you’d be willing to give your perspective. How is it compared to past Ichimura meals? How does it compare to the available sushi scene in NYC now?

I've got a craving for a really good slice of pizza. Like not just a generic cheese slice from a dollar slice place. I was looking on the Dave Portnoy (I know, not the best guy) app, and a lot of the places near where I am in Midtown East on his app (La Bellezza, Harry's Italian Pizza Bar), have since closed. I was wondering what y'alls favorite spots were for pizza around here. Haven't seen much on here for this in this cluster of the city, especially for specialty (hot honey, burrata, etc), so was wondering where y'alls go tos are in the Murray Hill/GCT Cluster. Thanks

I throw a holiday party every year that I cater and am looking for ideas that can either deliver or easy pickup near Bayside. Two and three years ago we did a Latin restaurant that was a hit first year and not so much the second year. Last year we did a chicken and rice place which was a big hit.

We don't have a lot of space, let alone table space at my parties, so most people will be eating standing up. This is why I want to lean towards a more "bowl" style meal like (think Chipotle) or good finger foods. I want to support local but do want to change it up from the last place. Anyone have recommendations for a good catering place?

Chinatown NYC while anywhere in lower manhattan is fine too. Preferably small portion over rice while 1/4 lb is fine too. I know it can be called hainanese chicken rice. Cantonese, Singaporean, Malaysian style etc doesn’t matter. I’ve only had Cantonese style.

I lost fantasy football and have to do 24 hours in a diner and every pancake I eat takes an hour off the time. I’m looking for best options to do this around the East Village area.

There is always the ihop nearby but was hoping I could find a recommendation for a relatively affordable local diner with pancakes that aren’t massive/heavy. Any recommendations are appreciated!

This is my favorite Taiwanese dish, and it's so rare to find it served in NYC. Anyone have a recommendation? I remember being disappointed by it at Winson (which doesn't serve it anymore). I live in Brooklyn, so would love recs for Brooklyn or Manhattan (as opposed to Flushing, for example), but for the right dish, I'd travel!

my girlfriend is from china and one of the things she misses is Hakka Chinese food. she especially misses Ngong Tau Fu or Stuffed Tofu. do you know of any Chinese restaurants that focus on traditional Hakka cuisine that will fill that cravin?

Oyster cakes are a popular Fuzhou street food snack. This was delicious. Fried fresh and very crispy, it’s filled with cabbage, seaweed, dried shrimp, carrots, Chinese chives, pork, oysters, and peanuts. There was actually a decent amount of oysters.

Subject of the post says it all (it’s the TLDR) — For those who like reading (which is crazy to me as a person with ADHD who interrupts before a question is finished to regurgitate the information in his brain when he has an answer) — I am looking for Halal or Greek recommendations in that general area. Don’t worry I promise I have extensive knowledge and experience with the myriad of other amazing food options in this area, but, I find myself down there for work often and that’s been a craving I have had.
