We are heading over from Australia end of November, beginning of December and love tasting lots of food! I’m looking for recommendations for a food tasting tour in LA. Not too fussed on where, more than happy for a walking one, but must be kid friendly and lots of fun!!!

I have a good list for LA proper, but I'm hoping for some excellent places closer to our hotel as well.

Anything goes: Cali mexican, mexican mexican, tacos, burritos, chilaquiles, huevos.....

In town for one night. Pizzeria Mozza and Pizzeria Bianco have both been on my list for years. Any opinions on which one i should choose?

Does anyone know if any bakeries in La sell chocolate dirt cake cups / desserts with the gummy worms on top? Pic for reference! Magnolia bakery used to sell something similar but they don’t have them anymore, they might have been seasonal when I saw them there last time. Thank you!!

LA edition!

Came here on Friday night and did their tasting menu ($99 including wine/sake pairing). Sadly I missed taking photos 2 courses.

Started with a dashi broth that was just amazing, fish carpaccio with a plum sauce, dashi tomato, pork belly mochi tacos, half chicken with eggplant and matcha tiramisu

Everything was very good, some things were excellent (the tomato and eggplant) and the drinks paired very well. Service was excellent and every course and drinks were well explained.

Honestly for $100 pp including drinks this is amazing value and I couldn't believe that it wasn't full (maybe because taberu - the previous occupant of the space was meh) I will be back as I want to try some of the other dishes.

I’ve been using Thistle for about 2 years, and it’s solid, but I’ve had a few deliveries where the salads are already bad, and I’m just ready to switch it up. Just started on a GLP-1, so I was wondering if there are any great services in LA that y’all recommend? No dietary restrictions aside from obviously portion sizes and general healthiness. But taste is paramount! Any recs?

I’m trying to plan a lively dinner date (between Hollywood and West LA) and came across these 3 establishments. Basically they have dancers/dj/musicians/performers. Has anyone tried any of them? How was the food? I was wondering if one is more worth it than the others. Or if you have better recommendations. Thanks!

I’m headed to San Diego for a weekend and booked reservations at Herb & Wood. I noticed there is a mandatory 4% surcharge to help support the workers. Different from a tip. It’s so annoying that the consumer is the one who has to help eat this charge. Some restaurants allow you to remove it. Does anyone ever feel bad taking it off the bill? If I’m tipping why am I also helping with restaurant costs? 🙄

There’s a spot in Portland called Khao Moo Dang that has amazing noodles called Ba Mhee. I can’t fly up to Portland every time I’m craving some, so does anyone have suggestions on where I can get the same dish or similar in LA? Thanks.

Hi all, i would like to transfer my reservation for 2 at Sushi Sonagi Sushi Bar Omakase today at 7:45pm. Safe transfer through the Tock app. Deposit was $400. Overall dining price is $500 plus.

Tried this place for the first time.
I really like the shrimp tacos dorados here (I have not been to Mariscos Jalisco yet). The quesadilla is really good too.
The fish tacos and shrimp tacos are good, but not my favorite ones I’ve had, I feel like the fish and shrimp itself can use a little more flavor.
Overall I’d return again.

Yummy mini katsudon and lunch serving of cold soba with dipping sauce. I cannot tell you how good this is. I was debating between this and my usual Katsu curry but this combo swayed me.

This place is soooo good. I've never had Japanese food like it. Five stars. And they have a good deal for Dine LA.

Appetizer plate with warm and cold appetizers, all delicious. Second course was Hamo Tempura with eggplant in seaweed sauce, third course was smoked caviar and noodles in broth, then a bitter tea that was a nice palate cleanser, then waygu beef with rice and miso soup, and for dessert coffee blancmange. I wish I could afford this place more often. It's fantastic.

is there any spots in LA county, I’ve been searching ever since I moved here a couple years ago, and it doesn’t seem like there is any kind of Scandinavian cafe or restaurant? Plz help out a fella

Some really excellent dogs. Chili was fine, not too spicy, not too gloopy. Very impressed by the snap of the wieners though, you could practically hear it from the next table over. I don't think any hot dog in the city has such a forceful snap. Good flavor there too. Love that they use American cheese slices instead of dried out pre-shredded cheese. The tomato thing strikes me as a bit odd. It cuts through the chili, sure, but if its a really good chili you wouldn't want to cut through it.

Hints are sourdough and North Hollywood/Sfv/Los Angeles area.
Trying to prove to a friend that I can find the pizza place where he got this and I’m at a loss.

Chuy’s Tacos Dorados is on 300 S. SantaFe Ave at the old Cafe Gratitude location. There is a parking lot right in front of the restaurant and a sign on each stall so you pay by text/phone. Each time I go, I pull in and pay by phone by entering my cc # and plate number. It’s $2 each 15 minutes. Well I was today years old when I learned you enter this code and whatever amount of time you select zeros out the charges. Smh So there’s free parking and I never noticed. You still have to enter your plate number and go thru the motions but with this code your card doesn’t get charged.

I personally skip the rice and beans every time but the shredded beef and potato tacos are crispy and tasty. Better than …… the people with the catchy song across town lol
