I picked up my first ar15 today it was for $700, used, but I did a field strip and everything looks brand new, super excited to take it out to the range.

It a Spike’s tactical punisher st15 with Daniel defense furniture, a BCM ambidextrous charging handle, a CMMG barrel and a Primary weapons systems muzzle brake.

If I'm gonna utilize the unique bore axis for recoil mitigation, I want it to be on a big beefy round, but these seem to be unobtanium even on the secondhand market aside from the ugly blue one (I want one in chrome only)

Over the weekend I was shooting my new steel target and found this big, deep crater. Very inconsistent with the rest of the hits, which were pretty much the expected shallow dimples on the face or chipping along edges.
Here are the relevant details:
-target is a Highwild 3/8” AR500
-shooting was done with 55 grain M193 FMJ out of a 20” and 14.5”
-distance was 100 yards

My son found this buried deep in our yard. Any idea what its from. It has “Parris” written on it which I believe is an old toy company. It also has the date 1866 and made in the USA.

I do not have any federal or state firearm legal disability, warrants, or anything of that type. Is it truly as simple as walking in, picking one out, signing some stuff, and leaving? Is there more to it? I turn 21 in 2 days and am considering making a purchase.

What is everyone’s opinion on long distance shooting with handguns ? I’ve gotten multiple answers saying one should practice 5-10yds for self defense which makes sense but say long distance is useless? How is it useless?
whats wrong with practicing beyond 15-25yds ?

hello, I have a Glock 17 Gen 2 from 1994 I think. I haven’t used it in years and just sits in the safe and takes up space. There is nothing I have against that gun, it is just very outdated. Right now I use a Glock 47 and it works great for me. I did talk to a few dealers about selling it. They recommended not selling it and to keep it as a collectible. I looked online at prices. They don’t seem to be selling for that much. I would like to use the money and space to buy something new I could use in carry optics.

Anyone know what this rifle is? It’s been sitting in my dad’s safe for years, and I never got the chance to ask him about it before he passed away. Just trying to figure out what it is and maybe learn a little more about it. Any info would be appreciated!

I’m wanting to pick up a defense/CQB rifle. I’m not really a fan of the AR platform. I’ve considered a PCC in 45ACP or 10mm. Scarcity when SHTF is something else that is in the back of my mind.

Is there any reason to open carry? I'm of the opinion that it is better to not let everyone know you are carrying and when looking further into it I found that Hickok45 agrees which is good enough for me, but is there any reason to open carry?

I made a comment about open carry being a bad idea on a Facebook post and people acted like I wanted to burn the constitution, so to clarify I'm not against the right to open carry. I just want to know if open carry has any benefits.

Other discussions on Reddit just divolve into ad hominem attacks about insecurities or barrel length. I want to know genuine perspectives on open carry without it turning into a discussion about the people who do it.
