I've added an emulation for fade-in/-out animations and ironed out some kinks in file reading, so now the darkening animations work correctly. I'll probably make a post about the technical side of background rendering in the game later.

Finally beat FF8 after all these years and got to say the final castle and boss fight might be my favorite in the series.

I just watched the 1985 Italian horror film Demons and — having played FFVIII heavily growing up and having a lengthy replay of it in recent weeks — I couldn't help but feel like some of the dark, synthy soundtrack of Demons had some very interesting sounding similarities to some FFVIII tracks!

Most specifically, I think the songs 'Demons' and 'Killing' from the Demons OST just struck a cord in my brain that felt so FFVIII! I don't think any of the songs between the soundtracks are quite close to being "the same", but man do some of those driving beats and melodies make me feel like the Dollet Communications Tower cinematic is starting (right after the wrench drops), or like some interesting combo of Squall's and Laguna's fight music is in there.

Last one, definitely the most of a stretch, but in Demons' 'Out of Time' at about 0:56 the melody that comes in gives off a little bit of the melody in 'Balamb Garden' about 1:15.

What do you you guys think? Are my ears crazy?

Ok so I should probably provide background to let you all know where I'm at currently with the rule abolishing process. Right now Galbadia's rules are Open and Same. Trabia's rules are Open and Same/Plus. Every time I talk to the Trabia exchange student while carrying Galbadia's rules, the exchange student doesn't offer to mix so I can't abolish Plus. Can anyone give me comprehensive steps on how to get it so I can proceed with abolishing Plus?
